About

Pitts Roofing is a family and veteran owned roofing contractor at 3917 Broadway Ave in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, working across the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex. The company was founded in 1992 by Dan Pitts Sr and Dan Pitts Jr, and BBB records give the same 1992 start date, making it one of the longer established roofing firms in North Texas. Its stated motto is integrity, service and excellence. The business runs a substantial commercial division alongside residential work. On the commercial side it installs and services TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, metal, shingle, coating and vegetative roof systems, with work covering churches, cold storage, industrial, retail, multifamily, educational and manufacturing buildings. Services include maintenance and repairs, roof replacements, emergency repairs, flat roof work, new construction roofing, steep slope roofing, roof inspections and storm damage repair. On credentials, GAF's own contractor directory lists Pitts Roofing as a GAF Master Elite roofer, which is GAF's top residential certification tier and is renewed annually. The company additionally states GAF Premium and GAF commercial contractor status, a DaVinci Roofscapes affiliation and NTRCA membership on its own site. One point of accuracy: Pitts Roofing Company, Inc. is NOT a BBB Accredited Business, although BBB does assign it an A+ rating. Any listing should report the A+ rating without describing the firm as BBB accredited.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0187 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I am pleased to provide a recommendation for Pitts Roofing and Construction of Fort Worth. I have hade 2 roof replacements due to hail and could not be happier with the results. The protection of the landscaping, efficiency of the crews and the gutters installed were better than the originals! Recently Dan Pitts sent over technician to inspect the roof after a storm. I asked him to also finish installing a sheet metal roof on my new shed. Dan said "no charge". Dan Pitts is an award winning member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. He is excellent in accommodating any issues or requests.

Working with Dan and his team was the easiest process EVER! He was always so responsive, scheduling was easy fast and details happened just as he said they would each time. He also dealt with my claims specialist (which can be frustrating dealing with the insurance company - esp mine) taking that off my plate. He is a quality man of character, honesty and dependable - on top of top quality work. I highly recommend Pitts Roofing Company!

Dan and his team did an exceptional job. They did a thorough inspection of my home to identify and troubleshoot any potential problems prior to the install. They completed the roof in one day and it looks great. HIGHLY recommend Pitts Roofing.

From our first contact with Pitts Roofing, we were impressed with their professionalism and their work. Andrew oversaw the project and was responsive through every step. All work was done in a timely manner, and both the roofing and gutter installation crews did excellent work.

Nina Donovan· 4 years ago

Pitts Roofing provided a roof for my primary dwelling and for the house of my son. Thy installed a high impact shingle which enabled us to receive a discount from our insurance provider USAA. Dan also stopped by to to insure we were satisfied and make several suggestions on the air flow which increased the overall productivity of the air conditioner. I would suggest you consider Pitts Roofing when receiving bids for your roof. This company also supports veterans in every way.

Frequently asked

Is Pitts Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofing contractor is, because Texas issues no state roofing licence. The credentials that do exist are the voluntary Licensed Roofing Contractor designation from the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, manufacturer certifications such as GAF Master Elite, proof of insurance, and any registration your city requires. Fort Worth homeowners should check those rather than looking for a state licence.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
RCAT membership means the company pays association dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (RRL, CRL or CRRL) is separately earned through testing and continuing education and has to be maintained. They are not interchangeable, and a company can be one without the other. Pitts Roofing is listed with the RCAT licensed credential.
What does GAF Master Elite actually mean?
Master Elite is GAF's highest residential contractor tier. GAF states it is extended to a small minority of roofers in North America, requires at least seven years of trading, proper insurance and licensing where applicable, and is renewed annually. In practical terms it also unlocks GAF's longest enhanced system warranties. Pitts Roofing appears as a Master Elite roofer on GAF's own contractor directory.
Is Pitts Roofing BBB accredited?
No. The BBB profile for Pitts Roofing Company, Inc. shows the business is not a BBB Accredited Business, while BBB assigns it an A+ rating. The A+ reflects complaint history and other BBB factors. Accreditation is a paid programme a business opts into, so its absence is not itself a mark against a contractor, but it should not be claimed either.
Why does hail matter so much for a Fort Worth roof?
Tarrant County sits in the North Texas hail corridor, and hail is the dominant cause of roof insurance claims across the Metroplex. Hail bruising crushes the shingle mat and strips granules without necessarily leaving an obvious hole, so damage can go unnoticed until leaks start. A photographed post storm inspection is the sensible response after a significant hail event.
Should I pay extra for Class 4 impact resistant shingles?
In Fort Worth it is usually worth pricing. Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 steel ball impact test, and most major Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a qualifying roof. Ask your carrier for the exact credit first, then have the specific Class 4 product named in the contract so you can prove the rating later.
Does a commercial building need a different contractor than a house?
It needs different systems and different experience. Low slope commercial roofs use TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen or coatings, and they fail at seams, flashings and drains rather than at shingle tabs. Pitts Roofing runs both a commercial and a residential division and lists all of those systems plus metal and vegetative roofing.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Fort Worth?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so it is set locally, and the City of Fort Worth generally requires a permit for roof replacement with an inspection afterwards. Suburbs across the Metroplex each set their own rules. Make sure the contractor pulls the permit under their own name and that the final inspection passes before you make the last payment.
How do I verify a roofer's insurance before work starts?
Request a certificate of insurance for general liability and workers compensation sent to you directly by the insurance agency, not forwarded by the contractor, and check the dates cover your project. Workers compensation is optional for most private Texas employers, so if a contractor does not carry it, get in writing who is liable if a worker is injured at your property.
What belongs in the contract before I sign?
The detailed scope (tear off versus overlay, decking replacement rate and price, underlayment, ventilation, flashing), the exact product and colour, the total price and payment schedule, the workmanship warranty term, confirmation that the manufacturer warranty will be registered, permit responsibility, and cleanup including magnetic nail sweep. Also confirm your deductible: in Texas a contractor cannot lawfully waive or absorb it.
