About

Miller Storm Roofing and Reconstruction is a family run roofing and storm restoration contractor at 1953 Golden Heights Road, Suite 1401 in Fort Worth. The BBB records the business as started on 14 October 2019, and the company's own About page says founders Taylor and Jay Miller set it up in 2019 after roughly a decade each in storm restoration at larger firms. The BBB lists Mr. Jason Miller as owner and Ms. Taylor A. Miller as director. The work is broader than roofing alone. The company covers roof replacement, repair, inspections and maintenance across asphalt shingle, metal, standing seam, stone coated steel, tile and TPO or flat systems, and adds gutters, garage doors, window screens, fence re-staining and solar panel installation. Storm damage restoration and insurance claim guidance are central to how the business is positioned, which fits Fort Worth's place in the North Texas hail belt. The company references Class 4 impact resistant shingles on its site. Miller Storm has been a BBB Accredited Business since April 2020 and holds an A+ BBB rating. Its RCAT status is Member, meaning association membership rather than the separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential. The company says it sources materials from manufacturers including GAF, Owens Corning and CertainTeed, but no manufacturer certification for the company could be confirmed on any manufacturer's own contractor directory. A second office is listed in Round Rock, and the site also references Lubbock.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0559 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Michael Karns is a great local roofer, and I’m honestly so glad I went with him. From start to finish the experience was smooth and stress free. The finished product looks great, and the quality of the work really shows. What stood out most was how easy Michael was to reach any time I had a question and he was quick to respond and explain everything clearly. I was originally denied, but Michael stayed on it, helped get the denial overturned, and got me approved for a full roof replacement. That alone made a huge difference for me and I’m extremely grateful. Great dude, great communication, great work. If you’re looking for a reliable local roofer who will actually go to bat for you, Michael will get you right.

Quinton Hill was absolutely phenomenal throughout the entire process. From the initial inspection to working directly with our insurance company, he was thorough, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable every step of the way. He took the time to explain everything, assisted us through the insurance claim process, and made sure all of the damage was properly documented so that everything that should have been covered was paid for. What could have been a stressful experience felt simple and organized because of his guidance. We are beyond excited to have a brand-new roof installed and couldn’t have done it without Quinton’s help. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares, communicates well, and advocates for his customers, we highly recommend Quinton Hill. Thank you again for making this such a smooth experience!

I honestly thought we were going to lose our deal because of roofing concerns, but then we found Quinton Hill! From the first conversation, he was knowledgeable, transparent, and incredibly responsive. He educated us on the roof’s condition, explained our options, and helped create a solution that kept both the buyer and seller comfortable. It was clear he wasn’t just focused on replacing a roof he was focused on helping us reach the closing table. If you need someone you can trust during a real estate transaction, Quinton Hill is the person to call. I highly recommend him and will gladly refer him to anyone I know. Thanks Quinton!

I have 3 no soliciting signs posted, one on each side of my driveway and the 3rd on the path up to my house. All are the correct height and clearly visible. Im not sure if this guy didnt see them and is thus not very detail oriented, which I wouldn't want working on my roof, or maybe he cant read, which again I'd want the guys working on my house to be able to do. Not to mention that ANY no soliciting sign is legally enforceable in Arlington so I wouldn't trust these guys to follow codes either. Would not recommend and will not consider in the future.

Frequently asked

Is Miller Storm licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no Texas roofer holds one and any advertisement implying otherwise is misleading. What you can check is current general liability and workers' compensation insurance, RCAT status, BBB accreditation and city registration where it applies. Miller Storm is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating and is an RCAT Member.
Is Miller Storm an RCAT Member or RCAT Licensed?
Member. That means the company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas and pays dues. It is not the same as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires testing and additional insurance requirements. Both are legitimate, but they mean different things, so ask which one a contractor actually holds.
Does Miller Storm hold a manufacturer certification such as GAF or Owens Corning?
None could be confirmed. The company states it sources materials from manufacturers including GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, Roser and Varitile, but buying a manufacturer's product is not the same as being certified by that manufacturer. No company profile was found on GAF's, Owens Corning's or CertainTeed's own contractor directories. Ask directly if an enhanced manufacturer warranty matters to you.
How does the company help with a hail insurance claim?
It offers inspection, damage documentation and guidance through the claim process, and coordinates repairs across roof, gutters and garage doors. Note that under Texas law a roofing contractor cannot act as your public insurance adjuster on a job they are also contracted to perform. They can document damage and meet your adjuster on site, but they cannot negotiate the settlement on your behalf.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles a good idea in Fort Worth?
Generally yes. Tarrant County is in the heart of the North Texas hail belt and sees repeated damaging storms. Class 4 shingles are tested to survive a two inch steel ball drop without cracking, and most Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a verified Class 4 roof. Get the discount quoted by your carrier in writing before you commit to the upgrade.
Do I need a WPI-8 windstorm certificate in Fort Worth?
No. WPI-8 certificates issued through the Texas Department of Insurance apply only to the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties covered by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. Fort Worth is far inland in Tarrant County, so WPI-8 does not apply. For this market, hail rating and correct installation are what protect the roof and the warranty.
Who is responsible for the roofing permit?
Texas has no statewide building code covering this, so permitting and inspection are handled city by city. Fort Worth requires a permit for roof replacement, and the contractor normally pulls it. Confirm in the contract that the permit is included in the price, and do not release final payment until the city inspection has been passed.
How long has Miller Storm been in business?
The BBB records the business as started on 14 October 2019, and the company's own About page also gives 2019 as the founding year. It has been a BBB Accredited Business since April 2020. The founders describe roughly a decade each of prior storm restoration and roofing experience at larger companies before starting this one.
What should I ask before signing a storm restoration contract?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer. Ask whether the price is fixed or contingent on the insurance settlement, and what happens if the claim is denied. Get the workmanship warranty length in writing, confirm who pulls the permit, and check the deposit terms. Be cautious about any door to door pitch that pressures you to sign the same day.
How do I reach them and where are they based?
The listed phone number is (817) 309-7663 and the main office is at 1953 Golden Heights Road, Suite 1401, Fort Worth, TX 76177. The BBB also lists a second location at 2261 Gattis School Road, Suite 135, Round Rock. The company advertises 24/7 emergency availability, though published day to day office hours vary between sources.
