About

MFI Roofing is a Dallas based residential and commercial roofing contractor operating from 5124 Sharp Street, in the industrial belt north west of downtown Dallas. The MFI initials come from McMahan's Flooring, Inc., the legal entity behind the brand. The company's Better Business Bureau record lists McMahan's Flooring, Inc. and M.F.I. as alternate business names and names Brandon McMahan as owner and director. The public facing brand, used on the website, the Facebook page and the Owens Corning directory, is simply MFI Roofing. The company describes itself as family owned and operated and works across the Dallas and Fort Worth area. Its core work is residential and commercial roof replacement and repair, with an emphasis on storm damage restoration and on guiding homeowners through the insurance claim process. It also offers financing. Its BBB record shows the business registered under commercial roofing and roofing contractor categories alongside fence installation and window replacement. MFI Roofing appears on Owens Corning's own contractor directory as an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which is a manufacturer credential and not a government licence. It has been a BBB Accredited Business since May 2017 and holds an A+ BBB rating, with a business start date of July 2005 on file. Texas has no state roofing licence, so the meaningful checks on a Dallas roofer are insurance, that Owens Corning directory listing and the company's RCAT standing.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0435 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Do not use this company for installing floor tiles. These guys were contracted to do floor tiles in my home, through our builder and did a horrible job. There is a lot of tile lippage which is not within tolerance limits, inadequate grout between tiles and varying levels of grout line thickness throughout out the house. Our feet hurt walking on the tiles. The field operations manager Chris came in one day, said he sees the issues and asked us to mark the tiles which are problematic and I spent an entire day marking the tiles only for him to come back and say that they are within limits. You could measure the lippage with a scale and it’s almost 1/8in on some tiles I showed to him. Avoid them at all cost.

Colton Eller was amazing throughout the entire process to work with. I am completely satisfied with this company for the amazing job they did on my roof. MFI and Colton took the family into consideration, worked with us and our budget. The project was completed quickly and better than I imagined. The customer service from this company was amazing. I seriously dreaded the entire project but they made it easy and as painless as possible. I highly recommend working with Colton as the point of contact if possible.

Couldn't recommend this company enough! The only company (out of 5 estimates) we had that didn't ask how much insurance money we were getting up front. Jason worked with us on our roof, fence & covering our skylights. They were quick & honest throughout our entire process.

Had MFI Roofing install new roof after the big storm hit in Keller/ Ft Worth area on 8/29/20 and couldn’t be more pleased with level of professionalism, customer service, and the new roof looks excellent! Jason took great care of us from start to finish, the crew was very professional as well and actually cleaned up afterward to the point where you’d never know they were even there. I’ll never use a different company, thanks MFI.

Frequently asked

What does MFI stand for?
The initials come from McMahan's Flooring, Inc., the legal entity behind the brand. The company's BBB record lists McMahan's Flooring, Inc. and M.F.I. as alternate business names and names Brandon McMahan as owner. The public brand you will actually deal with is MFI Roofing.
How long has MFI Roofing been in business?
Its Better Business Bureau record gives a business start date of 14 July 2005, so roughly two decades. It has been a BBB Accredited Business since May 2017 and holds an A+ BBB rating.
Is MFI Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas issues no state roofing licence, so no Texas roofing company holds one. The real checks are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, any registration your city requires, and voluntary credentials such as RCAT standing, BBB accreditation and manufacturer certification.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
An RCAT Member belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas and pays dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is separately earned through the association's own requirements and is the stronger of the two. The terms are often blurred in advertising, so ask which one a contractor actually holds.
What does Owens Corning Preferred Contractor mean?
It is the entry membership tier of Owens Corning's contractor network, above unaffiliated but below Platinum Preferred. MFI Roofing is listed on Owens Corning's own contractor directory. The tier is worth confirming because it governs which extended Owens Corning system warranties a contractor can offer.
Is Dallas a high hail area?
Yes. Dallas County sits in the heart of the North Texas hail belt, and hail is the single biggest driver of roof replacement in the region. Impact resistant Class 4 shingles are worth pricing on any Dallas replacement, and many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for them. Confirm the discount with your carrier before paying for the upgrade.
Can a roofer handle my insurance claim for me?
Only up to a point. In Texas a roofing contractor may not act as your public insurance adjuster or negotiate a claim on your behalf. A roofer can document the damage, provide a scope and meet the adjuster on site, but the claim itself remains yours to file and settle.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Dallas?
Texas has no statewide building code that settles permitting, so it is set city by city. The City of Dallas requires a permit for roof replacement and inspects the work. Confirm the requirement for your address and put in writing which party is responsible for pulling the permit.
Where is the company based?
5124 Sharp Street, Dallas, TX 75247, per its Better Business Bureau profile and its Yelp listing. Published phone numbers are (214) 631-0600 and (817) 304-2373, the second reflecting the Fort Worth side of the metroplex.
What should I ask before signing a contract in Dallas?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent to you directly by the insurance agent rather than a copy from the salesperson. Then get the written scope, the exact shingle line, the Owens Corning warranty tier being offered and the tier the contractor is certified to offer, the workmanship warranty in years, and the payment schedule. Never pay in full before the work is finished and inspected.
