Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Maze Construction, Kyle Lawrence, and the whole team were absolutely amazing to work with! We would highly recommend them to anyone and everyone for any project, big or small. The guys showed up on time every day and never left us wondering what was being worked on or when it would be completed. We always understood our timeline and any changes that came up. The attention to detail and the quality of work they provided was the best we've ever experienced and they were great to work with from start to finish!

Maze did over a 100k remodel at my business. They did a great job. Brad communicated well and did what he said he would do. The crew was also very good. Thank you to Victor, David, Juan and the rest of the crew, they are definitely top notch.

I’ve used Maze for several different projects at a high rise community in Uptown Dallas (stucco or concrete repairs, access gate repairs, power wash and re-striping, City of Dallas Code repairs…you name it!). Kyle is the kind of guy you want to do business with. He’s honest, fair, has attention to detail, dependable and works hard to ensure the project goes smooth and without issues. I will continue to use Maze for all of my projects in the future! They’re the BEST!

Frequently asked

Is Maze Roofing & Construction licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor licence, so no Texas roofer holds one and any company claiming a state roofing licence is misdescribing itself. The verifiable signals are insurance, city registration where required, BBB accreditation and manufacturer directory listings. Maze Roofing & Construction LLC has been BBB Accredited since January 27, 2020 and appears in GAF's commercial contractor directory.
What does the RCAT Member status mean here?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Member simply means the company has joined and pays dues. RCAT separately awards a Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) that is earned through its own qualification process. The two are not the same thing, and this listing shows Member status.
How old is the company?
BBB records show incorporation and business start on July 19, 2019. The company's marketing pages describe over a decade and in one place 15 plus years of experience, which most likely reflects the team's individual experience rather than the registered entity. Treat 2019 as the verifiable formation date for Maze Roofing & Construction LLC.
What is a roof coating or restoration system and when does it make sense?
A coating is a fluid applied membrane rolled or sprayed over an existing low slope roof to seal seams and add a reflective top surface. It suits a roof that is weathered but structurally sound with dry insulation. It is not a fix for saturated insulation or widespread deck damage, so ask for a moisture survey or core cuts before agreeing to coat rather than replace.
Does a Dallas commercial building need a WPI-8 windstorm certificate?
No. WPI-8 certificates are issued through the Texas Department of Insurance only for structures in the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties covered by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. Dallas County is inland and outside that zone. Hail resistance, wind uplift ratings and city permitting are the relevant Dallas concerns.
How does hail affect a flat or low slope commercial roof?
Hail on a membrane roof usually shows as bruising or fracture of the membrane and crushed insulation beneath, which is not visible from the ground and often not obvious walking the roof either. Insurers commonly require core cuts or an infrared scan to document it. Get the damage documented before a claim is filed, not after the adjuster has already scoped it.
Which manufacturer certifications can be confirmed for this company?
GAF lists Maze Roofing & Construction LLC in its commercial roofing contractor directory at gaf.com. The company also states on its residential page that it is factory certified for several major manufacturers but does not name them. If your warranty depends on a particular brand, ask for the current certificate for that brand rather than relying on a general claim.
Who pulls the permit for commercial roofing in Dallas?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so permitting runs through the local jurisdiction. In the city of Dallas that is Development Services. Commercial reroofs typically need a permit and inspection, and on tenant occupied buildings the permit trail also matters for the landlord's records. Get the permit responsibility written into the contract.
What should be in a commercial roofing proposal?
The membrane type and thickness, the insulation type and R value, the attachment method, the deck condition allowance and unit price for repairs, the flashing and edge metal detail, the manufacturer system warranty term and what it covers, the contractor workmanship warranty term, and a schedule with weather contingency. Anything left as an allowance should show a unit price.
Is it legal for a contractor to cover my insurance deductible?
No. Texas Insurance Code Chapter 707 makes it an offence for a contractor to pay, rebate, waive or promise to absorb an insured's deductible. Separately, Chapter 4102 bars a person from acting as both the contractor and the public insurance adjuster on the same claim. Both apply to commercial and residential claims alike.
