About

Prestige Metal Roofing Systems is a locally owned residential and commercial roofing contractor based at 170 E Zipp Road in New Braunfels. The company describes itself as a pillar in the roofing industry since 2007. New Braunfels straddles the Comal and Guadalupe county line, and this address sits on the Guadalupe County side, near Lake Dunlap, so the Guadalupe County assignment is correct. As the name says, metal roofing is the specialty. The company installs standing seam, corrugated and metal shingle profiles, and points to high solar reflectivity, Class A fire resistance, wind resistance rated above 140 mph, lightweight panels that can often be installed over an existing roof, and fully recyclable material. It states that its metal roofs are available in 30 colors and can cut cooling costs by up to 40 percent. Shingle roofing and commercial roofing are offered alongside metal, so metal is the focus rather than the only option. Marco A. Pena is the primary contact on the RCAT directory, which lists the company as a member since 2022. BBB records list Marco Pena as president and Linda Pena as vice president. The company offers free inspections and quotes, financing, insurance claim assistance, and a $500 discount on new roof installations for military veterans.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Just had them put a new metal roof on my house as the old one was probably, literally, a hundred years old. They knocked it out super quick. Priced right. GREAT looking roof. The whole team was great from front desk to field. The only regret i have is that I waited so long to contact them to get the new roof. No more leaks and changed the whole appearance of the house. We should have done this way earlier, it's awesome work.

Marco and his team did a great job - professional, nice, respectful. From start to finish, they made us feel like we made the right choice - they did what they said and more and the roof looks great!

Frequently asked

Does Texas require a state roofing license?
No. Texas has no state roofing license. The company describes itself as licensed and insured, which in Texas means local registration where a city requires it plus liability and workers compensation cover, not a state credential. Ask for a certificate of insurance sent to you directly by the insurer.
What does RCAT Member status mean here?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Plain membership means the company belongs to the association and pays dues, and the RCAT directory shows Prestige Metal Roofing Systems as a member since 2022. It is not the same as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires testing and documented experience.
Why would I choose a metal roof over shingles in Central Texas?
Metal panels last far longer than asphalt, reflect a large share of solar heat, and shed hail and debris well. The company cites Class A fire resistance, wind resistance above 140 mph and up to 40 percent lower cooling costs. The trade-off is higher up front cost and the need for a crew that details flashings and penetrations correctly, since metal is unforgiving of sloppy work.
What metal roofing profiles does the company install?
Standing seam, corrugated panels and metal shingles. Standing seam hides its fasteners under the raised seams and is the premium residential choice. Corrugated is exposed-fastener and lower cost. Metal shingles are designed to look closer to a conventional shingle or tile roof while still being metal.
Can a metal roof go over my existing roof?
Often yes. The company says its lightweight metal systems can be installed over an existing roof in many cases, which saves tear-off cost and landfill. Whether it is allowed depends on the deck condition, the number of existing layers, and the local building department's rules, so it has to be confirmed on site.
Which county is New Braunfels in?
Both. New Braunfels straddles the Comal and Guadalupe county line. The company's own address at 170 E Zipp Road sits on the Guadalupe County side near Lake Dunlap. That distinction matters for permitting, appraisal district records and county inspection requirements, so confirm which county your property actually falls in.
Does hail damage roofs in the New Braunfels area?
Yes. Central Texas gets significant hail, and it is one of the main reasons roofs are replaced here. Hail bruising is often invisible from the ground, so book an inspection with photo documentation after a serious storm even if nothing looks wrong.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement?
Texas has no single statewide building code enforcement, so requirements are set city by city and county by county. Check with the City of New Braunfels for in-city properties, or the Guadalupe or Comal County office for properties outside city limits, and confirm in writing who pulls and pays for the permit.
Can the contractor cover my insurance deductible?
No. Texas law prohibits a contractor from paying, waiving, rebating or absorbing a homeowner's insurance deductible. Any offer to do so is a red flag and can carry criminal penalties for the contractor.
What should I check before signing?
Get the panel gauge, coating, profile and color in writing, along with the manufacturer warranty and the separate workmanship warranty. Confirm the certificate of insurance comes from the insurer. Ask who pulls the permit, what the payment schedule is, and what happens if rotten decking is found once the old roof is off.
