About

Pilot Roofing is a Texas residential and commercial roofing contractor whose RCAT listing gives a New Braunfels address at 190 Center St. The company runs a multi region operation with offices it labels as Houston, San Antonio and Victoria headquarters, and its site carries dedicated pages for a long list of Hill Country and Greater Houston towns including Gruene, Seguin, Boerne, Bulverde, Wimberley, Blanco, Fredericksburg, Comfort, Katy, Cypress, Tomball and The Woodlands. The service mix is residential roof installation and repair, commercial roof installation, new roof construction, and storm mitigation work including emergency tarping and leak stopping. The company advertises free roof inspections and help with insurance claims. On materials, the site names asphalt shingle lines from Malarkey and CertainTeed, standing seam metal, stone coated tile and TPO for low slope work. BBB records for Pilot Roofing, LLC show the business started on 4 May 2022 and it has been a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating since 28 October 2022, filed under the BBB of Greater Houston and South Texas with James Travis Huddleston as owner. Its own accreditations page states CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster status, Malarkey Emerald Pro certification, IBHS FORTIFIED installer training and Attic Breeze installer status. Those four are stated by the company and were not independently confirmed at a manufacturer directory during this research, so treat them as company statements. The RCAT directory lists the company with Zane Blandford as contact.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Casey and his crew did an EXCELLENT job at getting a new roof on my home. I really appreciated the time and extra attention for selecting the shingle, doing the work, and clean up. Post job being completed, they came back and made sure everything was working perfectly.

Working with these guys was a great experience overall. We discovered some roof damage by a home inspector while selling our house. That process is stressful enough let alone having to make last minute unanticipated repairs. With having said that, Pilot Roofing was contacted and someone come by in less than 24 hours to evaluate the damage. And 24 hours after that, the damage was fixed! The customer service was top notch and their pricing was very reasonable as well. If and when I need roof repairs in the future, Pilot Roofing will most definitely be my first call!

I can’t say enough good things about Casey Crow. From start to finish, he was a true professional and a stand-up guy. He stayed in constant communication with me throughout the entire roofing process, always answering my calls and making sure I understood what was going on every step of the way. That level of reliability and honesty is hard to find. Not only is Casey incredibly hardworking, but he’s also the kind of person you can trust and genuinely enjoy working with. Over the course of the project, he even became someone I’d consider a friend. He’s a dedicated family man who clearly takes pride in his work, and it shows in the results. I can’t recommend him enough — he’s truly a standout guy and Pilot is lucky to have him on their team.

I called Pilot asking if they would help after a bad storm and they were onsite within 24 hours. Their team did their best to try and help me fix my situation quickly and with my pocket book in mind. They were open to providing options with the pros and cons for me to evaluate. There was no pressure, open communication, and they got the work done in a timely manner. They made sure no one knew work had happened and I am so thankful for their PMs and ownership that does business the right way. I highly recommend them and will use them on all my projects moving forward.

Frequently asked

Which county is this company actually in?
New Braunfels straddles two counties. The address on the company's RCAT listing, 190 Center St, New Braunfels TX 78130, geocodes to Guadalupe County rather than Comal County, so Guadalupe is correct for this location. If you are checking permit rules, confirm which county and city jurisdiction your own property falls under, because the line runs through the city.
Is Pilot Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofer is, because Texas does not issue a state roofing licence. The relevant signals are proof of insurance, RCAT status, and any city or county registration your jurisdiction requires. Pilot Roofing is listed in the RCAT directory as a member and describes itself as fully insured.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
RCAT membership means the company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas and pays dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (RRL, CRL or CRRL) is a separate, earned qualification with testing and continuing education behind it. Pilot Roofing appears in the RCAT directory as a member. Membership and the licence credential are not the same thing and should not be read as interchangeable.
Do I need to worry about hail in the New Braunfels area?
Yes. Central Texas along the I-35 corridor gets regular spring hail, and hail is the leading cause of roof insurance claims in the region. Damage often shows as bruising and granule loss rather than obvious holes, so a post storm inspection by someone willing to photograph the roof surface is worth having even if the roof looks fine from the driveway.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles a good idea here?
They are worth pricing. Class 4 is the top rating under the UL 2218 impact test, and many Texas insurers give a premium discount for a qualifying roof. Ask your own carrier what the credit would be before committing, and make sure the specific product and its Class 4 rating are written into your contract.
What does CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster mean?
It is CertainTeed's top credential tier for shingle contractors and it can allow the contractor to offer extended manufacturer warranty coverage. Pilot Roofing states this credential on its own accreditations page. It was not independently confirmed at CertainTeed's contractor directory during this research, so ask the company to show its current credential and warranty eligibility in writing before you rely on it.
What is the IBHS FORTIFIED program?
FORTIFIED is a construction standard from the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety that specifies a sealed roof deck, better edge attachment and improved fastening so a roof holds up under high wind. Some insurers recognise a FORTIFIED roof for premium credit. The company lists FORTIFIED installer status on its accreditations page; confirm current standing and what documentation you would receive.
How should I handle a roof insurance claim?
Document the storm date, photograph any interior damage, and report the claim to your insurer yourself. A contractor can meet the adjuster and provide a scope, but in Texas a roofer must not act as your public adjuster or negotiate the claim on your behalf. Be cautious of anyone offering to waive or absorb your deductible, which is not lawful in Texas.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement here?
There is no statewide Texas building code enforcement, so permitting is set locally. The City of New Braunfels and the counties around it generally require a permit for a roof replacement. Confirm your contractor is pulling the permit under their own name and that the inspection is signed off before the final payment leaves your hands.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly by the insurance agent, a written scope covering tear off, decking replacement pricing, underlayment and ventilation, the exact product name and colour, the workmanship warranty length, whether the manufacturer warranty will be registered, who pulls the permit, and the payment schedule. Get every verbal promise added to the written contract.
