About

Roofer Chicks is a woman-owned roofing contractor based at 808 W County Line Rd in New Braunfels, Comal County, with a second appointment-only office in San Antonio. Founder Ami Feller came into roofing through her brother's crews during college, worked her way from ground crew to foreman, spent time in logistics roles at Caterpillar and DHL, then returned to the trade and launched Roofer Chicks under its own name in 2016. The company presents itself as "built different on purpose" and has made increasing the number of women working in the trades an explicit part of its identity, launching what it describes as its first all-female roofing crew in 2020. The work covers residential and commercial roofing, replacements and repairs, storm damage, Velux skylight installation, and FORTIFIED Roof certification, which is the IBHS standard for stronger roof-deck attachment and sealed decks. Materials run across asphalt composition shingles, metal, tile, low-slope systems and roof coatings. The company offers a lifetime workmanship warranty and puts weight on a transparent, no-pressure sales approach rather than door-knocking after storms. On credentials, Roofer Chicks appears in GAF's own contractor directory as a factory-certified contractor and states on its own site that it holds GAF Certified Plus for both residential and commercial. It is a Malarkey Emerald Premium Pro installer, holds Tile Roofing Industry (TRI) certification, and is a Better Business Bureau Accredited Business with an A+ rating, accredited since September 2016. It serves New Braunfels and a wide arc of the I-35 corridor between San Antonio and South Austin.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0361 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We Love Roofer Chicks and they have replaced 2 homes of ours with 50 year roofing and their work and craft is the best here in the State of Texas. We needed our chimney fixed as well and no one outside a chimney company would consider. We called Roofer Chicks and instantly had an estimate and date of repair. If you love your home and want it right, just call them!

First of all, this review is way overdue. I was blessed to have been given a very positive recommendation to use this company from a patient of mine. I had scheduled 4 roofing companies to come to my home and give me an estimate. The first three were very disappointing to say the least. Then coming in to save the day was Megan Smith, senior sales for ROOFER Chics. She showed up five minutes early. She went up and down that ladder to inspect the situation like she was born to do it! Four skylights had been improperly installed 3 times in the past causing leakage issues. By that afternoon, I had received two bids from Miss Megan via email. One for the type of skylights I had asked about and another for the highly recommended VELUX solar skylight. I could write a book about how smoothly and professionally this entire experience ran! From my initial meeting with Miss Megan followed by multiple correspondence, all went smooth as silk. Owner, Ms. Ami Feller was on board as well making sure of my complete satisfaction. I always hesitate to give a recommendation. However, I could not recommend any company more highly than this one! ROOFER Chicks will be Disneyland for your roof! A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO THE CREW! Francisco (a rooster) arrived followed by 2 amazing chicks, Ms. Liz and Ms. Kendall on 03/13/2026. They worked together like poetry in motion! The teamwork and camaraderie between this awesome trio was unparalleled! This trio of professionals were so polite and respectful of my property. The preparation and cleanup was incredible! You will not regret choosing this company!

I had a very pleasant experience with Roofer Chicks! From first contact through through initial inspection, estimate/quote, explanation of work they were very thorough and clear about what needed done, how much it would be and exactly what we were getting. Their price for the work felt very fair and the job itself from their crew was great, the work was done well and quick and clean was exactly as promised. Roof looks great, very very happy with it all. Thank you!

Roofer Chicks are awesome and their service is excellent and have used them for our own roof and for our clients roofs. From inspections to repairs to new installations, always a 10+++ experience. And show up on time and do what they say they're gonna do and honor their estimates. Working with them is always easy and worry free and they are nice and the work clean up after.

Roofer Chicks was professional, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. They completed the inspection within an hour, and we had a detailed estimate with all documentation within four hours. On the day of service, they arrived with a large team and finished everything quickly, exactly as promised. Megan answered all of my questions, was very knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable choosing Roofer Chicks, even though they were not the cheapest bid. For us, quality mattered more and their warranty was outstanding. We would definitely recommend Roofer Chicks for your roofing needs.

Frequently asked

What does woman-owned mean in practice here?
Roofer Chicks was founded and is owned by Ami Feller, who worked on roofing crews herself before starting the company in 2016. The company treats female representation in the trades as part of its purpose and states it launched its first all-female roofing crew in 2020. It is how the business presents itself publicly, not a marketing label applied after the fact.
Is Roofer Chicks licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no Texas roofer holds one. What matters instead is current general liability and workers' compensation insurance, RCAT status, manufacturer certifications, and any city-level contractor registration required to pull a permit in New Braunfels, San Marcos, Seguin or San Antonio.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and RCAT Licensed?
RCAT membership is a paid association status. RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, CRL or RRL) is separately earned through examination and continuing education, and is not automatic with membership. When comparing quotes, ask each contractor which of the two they actually hold and for the designation letters.
What is a FORTIFIED Roof and should I want one?
FORTIFIED is a resilience standard from the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety. A FORTIFIED Roof requires ring-shank nailing patterns, a sealed roof deck and specific edge detailing, all verified by an independent evaluator, and it is documented with a certificate. Some insurers recognise it. Ask the contractor to confirm the evaluator and whether your carrier gives credit before you pay the premium for it.
Which GAF certification level does the company hold?
Roofer Chicks is listed in GAF's own contractor directory, and its own website states GAF Certified Plus for residential and commercial. Certified Plus lets a contractor offer the GAF System Plus and Silver Pledge Limited Warranties. Tiers can change, so look the company up directly on gaf.com and ask which warranty they can register on your specific roof.
Does hail matter in Comal County?
Yes. The I-35 corridor between San Antonio and Austin takes regular severe thunderstorms and hail, and hail is the most common driver of roof claims in the area. Wind-driven rain and falling limbs from Hill Country oaks are a secondary cause. A post-storm inspection is sensible even if there is no visible leak.
Are impact-resistant shingles worth the extra cost?
Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, rated under UL 2218 or FM 4473, hold up better to hail and often earn an insurance premium discount in Texas. Malarkey and GAF both make Class 4 lines. Ask for the exact product name and rating in the written scope, and check the discount with your own insurer, because the credit varies a lot between carriers.
Which areas does Roofer Chicks serve?
Its own service area pages list New Braunfels, Canyon Lake, Bulverde, Cibolo, Schertz, Converse, Universal City, Garden Ridge, Marion, San Marcos, Kingsbury, Seguin, Spring Branch, Wimberley, Buda, Kyle, South Austin, San Antonio, Luling, La Vernia and Geronimo. The San Antonio office is by appointment.
Who pulls the permit for a roof replacement?
Texas has no single statewide building code office, so permitting is handled locally. The City of New Braunfels, San Marcos, Seguin and San Antonio each run their own permit and inspection processes, and unincorporated Comal County has its own rules. Get it in writing that the contractor pulls the permit, and ask for the inspection sign-off at completion.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract?
Ask for certificates of insurance sent straight from the insurer, a written scope naming the shingle line, underlayment, ventilation and flashing, the length and terms of the workmanship warranty, which manufacturer warranty tier they can actually register, and who pulls the permit. Do not pay a large deposit up front, and walk away from anyone who offers to cover or waive your insurance deductible, which is illegal in Texas.
