About

Cable's Roofing (listed with the BBB and Owens Corning as Cable's Roofing & Construction) is a family owned roofing contractor at 13033 State Highway 155 South in Tyler, working across East Texas since 1999. The company brands itself as The Most Trusted Roofing Company in East Texas and takes on both residential and commercial work. Shingle options listed on its own site include architectural, designer, and Class 4 impact resistant products, which matter in East Texas where hail drives a large share of roof claims. The company also states on its BBB profile that it is certified by most manufacturers as one of their premier installers in Texas. We could not verify any manufacturer certification other than Owens Corning, so treat the broader claim as stated by the company.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0520 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Cables installed our roof four years ago and we had a great experience. Fast track to now, and their service and customer commitment continues shine. We’re in the midst of selling our home and the buyers wanted a couple minor items repaired on the roof. We called Cables immediately. They were responsive, quick to help, communicative, and provided excellent documentation of the repairs for our buyers. Cables will be there when you need them again! Highly recommend.

We had a great experience with every worker in this company. They gave us an estimate right away, went over the contract thoroughly with us, helped us through the insurance side of things to get as much covered by our insurance as possible, and completed our job in one day. I can’t say enough good things about the team. They are absolutely wonderful. The communication with this company has been the best part. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Great team to work with! Always very responsive to any question we had. They took care of all paperwork with our insurance company and kept us very informed thru each stage of the process. They did a great job and cleaned up before they left each day. Would definitely use them again!

We researched and interviewed 3 different companies as we began the process of getting a new roof. Both my husband and I feel truly blessed to have chosen Cable’s to replace our 20+ year old roof. Tommy stayed with us through every step of the process - the highs AND the lows. He was the absolute BEST, most supportive, customer service rep. He had our back through it ALL. While we were anxiously waiting for the funds to be released, they were so patient with us. Every time we had a storm, Tommy would check in and ask if he needed to come by and make any repairs for us while we were waiting to get our new roof! What a guy!! Once we finally had the money in hand, and the weather cleared, Cable’s had the new roof on in half a day. The price was a serious blessing. (Thank you for fighting for that, Tommy!) Dalen & his install crew painted the exhaust vents to match the color of the roof! It looks so swank! They even noticed a vent with heavy lint, so they pulled the lint out before putting on the new vent. THAT is customer service! (Thanks, guys!) We really felt loved and well taken care of the whole time. We would recommend them to anyone needing a new roof on their house or business. They made us feel like a part of the Cable’s family. Thanks, y’all. ♥️

Highly recommend! They have done many jobs for our company. After a storm this past weekend, I reached out in regard to my personal home and they were able to get to my home and check everything out. Caleb checked my roof and promptly responded with photos and other information the same day! All around great company!

Frequently asked

Is Cable's Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No, and neither is any other roofer. Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor licence. What you can check instead is real insurance (general liability and workers compensation), a BBB record, city or county registration where it is required, and voluntary industry credentials. Cable's is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating and is listed as an RCAT Member.
What does RCAT Member actually mean?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, a voluntary trade body. A Member pays dues and agrees to the association's code. That is different from RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires testing and experience. Cable's is recorded here as a Member. Do not read Member as a government licence.
Are they certified by a shingle manufacturer?
Cable's Roofing & Construction appears on the Owens Corning contractor directory as an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which we verified on Owens Corning's own site. The company separately states on its BBB profile that it is certified by most manufacturers as one of their premier Texas installers. We could not confirm that broader claim, so ask to see the certificate for whichever brand you plan to install.
Should I put Class 4 impact resistant shingles on a Tyler roof?
It is worth pricing. Class 4 is the highest UL 2218 impact rating and is designed to survive hail that would crack a standard shingle. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, though the discount is not automatic. Cable's lists Class 4 impact resistant shingles as an option. Ask your insurer what the discount is before you commit to the upcharge.
How soon after a hail storm should I have the roof looked at?
Promptly. Hail bruising often does not leak straight away, and most Texas policies require you to report damage within a reasonable time. Get a documented inspection with photographs, keep it, and file with your own insurer. A roofer's report is evidence, not an approval, and the carrier's adjuster makes the coverage decision.
Can a roofer pay or absorb my insurance deductible?
No. Under Texas law it is an offence for a contractor to pay, waive, rebate or absorb an insurance deductible on a property insurance claim, and an offer to do so is a warning sign about the rest of the deal. You are expected to pay your deductible. Any roofer offering a free roof by covering it is exposing both of you.
Do I need a permit to reroof a house in Tyler?
Texas has no single statewide building code office, so permitting and inspection are handled city by city and county by county. In Tyler, that goes through the City of Tyler, and addresses outside the city limits fall to Smith County. Ask your contractor in writing who pulls the permit and confirm it is done before work starts.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in East Texas?
Ask for current certificates of insurance for both general liability and workers compensation sent directly by the insurer, the full scope in writing including underlayment, decking replacement rate and ventilation, the manufacturer warranty and the separate workmanship warranty in years, who pulls the permit, the payment schedule, and how change orders are handled if rotten decking is found.
Do they handle commercial and flat roofs as well as houses?
Yes. Cable's lists commercial roofing, silicone roof coating systems and modified bitumen for low slope decks alongside its residential work, plus metal roofing and its own metal fabrication. If you have a low slope or metal commercial roof, ask for photographs of comparable jobs in East Texas.
How do I avoid a storm chasing roofer after an East Texas hail event?
Storm chasers arrive within days of a hail event and leave before warranty claims start. Check for a permanent local address, a multi year BBB record, a listed local phone number, and a workmanship warranty from a company likely to be around to honour it. Never pay in full up front, and do not sign anything that assigns your insurance benefits without reading it carefully.
