About

X Roofing & Solar is a Dallas-Fort Worth roofing company that also sells and installs residential solar. Its live website states the business has been operating since 2018, while BBB records the LLC behind it (listed under the alternate name X Roofing And Restoration LLC) with a date of incorporation of 12/20/2021. The company is BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, accredited since 11/27/2023. The roofing side is the substantive half of the business and is described in detail on the company's own pages: new roof installation, full roof replacement, shingle repair, roof repair and maintenance, emergency roof service, gutter systems, attic ventilation, and commercial roofing. The solar side is presented as solar panel installation. It is worth being precise about what that does and does not imply. Texas issues no state roofing licence at all, so no government licence exists to cover the roofing side. Solar photovoltaic installation is a different matter, because the electrical interconnection is electrical work that in Texas must be performed under a Texas Electrical Contractor Licence (TECL) issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. A TECL is an electrical credential, not a roofing credential, and it says nothing about roofing competence. We found no TECL number published by this company on its own site, on its BBB profile, or in its RCAT record, so homeowners considering the solar side should ask for the TECL number of whoever will be doing the electrical connection and verify it directly on the TDLR licence search. Addresses are worth reading carefully here. The RCAT record and the company's Yelp listing both give 8500 N Stemmons Fwy, Suite 5032, Dallas 75247. BBB and the live website give 940 N Belt Line Rd, Suite 121, Irving 75061. The website also advertises an Austin office at 305 E Huntland Dr, 5th Floor, which is a multi-tenant executive-suite building, and we found no independent evidence of resident staff there. Published hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Mark Davila truly cares about his customers. Out of 3 contractors, he was the only one who got Allstate to approve my roof replacement. He promised me the best-looking roof in the neighborhood, and he delivered. My black gutters look amazing, and I was updated with drone pictures and videos throughout install day. Communication was top tier. I highly recommend Mark and X Roofing!

Mark Davila was a joy to work with. He definitely goes the extra mile and is so polite. Came back and painted our chimney so we didn't have to get on the roof. THANK YOU!Totally coordinated with our insurance adjuster. The roof looks amazing. I definitely recommend Mark to all our friends and family. Wish he could do our roof at our Utah cabin!

I called Mark to discuss starting a claim due to hail damage last fall 2025. Mark came to my house, and not only inspected my roof, fence and gutters, but took the time to sit down with me and go over in detail his findings and how the process would go. He made time to be on the phone with me when I made the first report of claim. When the Insurance adjuster came in the weeks to follow, Mark made sure he was there and walked my property with the insurance adjuster. When given the green light by my insurance company, my roof was replaced in about a day and a half. I had my gutters replaced as well and this was done a few days later. Mark's crew made repairs to my patio, painted the out side of my house and made some minor repairs to my fence. It was re-stained as well. One thing that I remember that stood out was a night or two after painting my patio, Mark came back himself with caulking to cover the little nail holes that were there on the ceiling from when the patio was installed. He caulked each and evey one and then hand painted the patio area. He was there till after midnight. I may not have noticed, but that just goes to show how much he cares about making sure his customer(s) are satisfied and stands behind their workmanship. Mark suggested class 3 shingles and a different GAF Z ridge cap. Mark gave me a certificate to provide to my insurance company which considerably lowered my premium. I also have the best looking roof in the neighborhood. Thanks Mark!!

I can’t say enough good things about working with Adrian Gutierrez as the project manager. He took the whole claim process off my plate, met with the insurance and communicated with them. Because of Adrian we we ended up getting almost $11,000 in extra coverage from items the insurance had missed off the initial payment , which allowed us to get a new roof and pay to replace the rotted decking. For the entirety of the install Juan their Quality control manager was present, he made sure everything was perfect and up to their above standard.he constantly provided me updates through out the entire process . I’m truly grateful they made a stressful process so easy. I would 100% recommend working with x roofing and their team.

We had an amazing experience with Manny and X Roofing. From the roof inspection to the finished installation we never felt in the dark. Manny was present through multiple inspections, the insurance process, and finished install. We were kept updated with photos and videos while the crew was working on the roof which we thought was really neat. The cleanup was amazing and they even protected my plants! Our experience with Manny and X Roofing proved there are still honest companies that exist. Thank you for all your hard work and clear communication!

Frequently asked

Does X Roofing & Solar hold a Texas roofing licence?
No Texas roofer is. Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor licence, so there is no government roofing licence for any company in this directory to hold. Trust is built instead from insurance coverage, RCAT standing, city or county registration where it is required, and manufacturer credentials. Anyone advertising a Texas state roofing licence is describing something that does not exist.
The company installs solar. Does that mean it holds an electrical licence?
Not automatically, and this is an important distinction. Solar photovoltaic installation involves electrical work, and in Texas that work must be carried out under a Texas Electrical Contractor Licence (TECL) issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. A TECL is an electrical credential. It is not a roofing credential and it does not certify roofing workmanship. We found no TECL number published by this company on its website, BBB profile or RCAT record. Before signing for solar, ask who holds the TECL for the job and check the number on the TDLR licence search at tdlr.texas.gov.
What is X Roofing & Solar's RCAT standing?
This directory records X Roofing & Solar as an RCAT Member. Member status means the company joined the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas and pays dues. It is not the same as the separately earned RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (RRL, CRL or CRRL), which requires testing and experience. Both are legitimate, but they mean different things and should not be described interchangeably.
Which address is the real office?
Sources differ. The RCAT record and the Yelp listing give 8500 N Stemmons Fwy, Suite 5032, Dallas 75247. BBB and the company's own website give 940 N Belt Line Rd, Suite 121, Irving 75061. The site additionally advertises an Austin location at 305 E Huntland Dr, 5th Floor, a shared executive-suite building where we found no evidence of resident staff. If where the crew actually dispatches from matters to you, ask directly.
Should I replace the roof before installing solar panels?
Usually yes, if the roof has less than about ten years of life left. Removing and reinstalling an array to reroof underneath it is an avoidable cost that typically runs into the thousands. A contractor who does both trades can sequence the work in one mobilisation. Ask for the roof and the solar to be quoted as separate line items so you can see what each actually costs and compare each against specialist bids.
Do solar panels void my roof warranty?
They can. Roof penetrations made by a third party are a common exclusion in manufacturer system warranties, and a workmanship warranty from your roofer may exclude damage traced to mounting hardware. Get written confirmation of how the panel mounts are flashed, who warrants the penetrations, and for how long. If the same company does both, that answer should be simple, so ask for it in writing.
How relevant is hail damage in the Dallas area?
Very. Dallas County sits in the North Texas hail corridor and takes damaging storms most years. Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, the top rating under the UL 2218 impact test, hold up better than standard architectural shingles and often qualify for an insurance premium discount in Texas. Hail also damages solar panels and racking, so check whether your homeowner's policy covers a roof-mounted array or whether it needs a separate endorsement.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Dallas or Irving?
Texas has no single statewide building code for reroofing, so this is decided locally. The City of Dallas and the City of Irving both administer their own permitting and inspection, and solar installations additionally require an electrical permit and a utility interconnection agreement. Confirm in writing who pulls each permit, who schedules inspections, and who handles the interconnection paperwork with Oncor.
How does a North Texas hail claim usually run?
You report the date of loss, the carrier sends an adjuster, and a scope and estimate follow. Most Texas policies pay actual cash value up front and release recoverable depreciation once work is complete and invoiced. Under Texas law a roofing contractor may not act as a public insurance adjuster on a claim they are also contracting to repair. Anyone offering to handle your claim and the repair should be asked to explain how that is permitted.
What should I ask before signing?
Request a certificate of insurance sent directly by the insurer or agent, showing general liability and workers' compensation. Ask which address the crew dispatches from. Ask for the TECL number covering any electrical work. Get the workmanship warranty and the manufacturer warranty in writing as separate items. Confirm the shingle line, colour and any impact rating on the contract. Do not sign anything that ties your obligation to whatever your insurer eventually pays.
