About

United Roofing & General Contractors is a Dallas roofing and exterior contractor at 4215 Munger Ave, Dallas 75204, in Dallas County. The Texas entity, United Roofing and General Contractors LLC, was incorporated in January 2021 according to its BBB profile, which lists Stanley Knappen as owner and managing member and Cody Koziol as managing member. The Dallas operation is part of a wider multi state United Roofing organisation whose site also shows offices in Lombard, Illinois and Kalamazoo, Michigan, and whose about page dates the overall brand to 2005. The service list is residential and commercial roofing plus most of the rest of the exterior: roof repair, replacement, inspection and installation, TPO and EPDM commercial systems, gutters and downspouts, siding, fencing, garage doors and exterior painting. The company markets free roof inspections and says it works directly with insurance carriers, which fits a North Texas market where most roof replacements start as a hail claim. On verifiable trust signals, the company has been a BBB Accredited Business since June 2021 and holds an A+ rating on its Dallas BBB profile. Its own about page displays Owens Corning, GAF, CertainTeed and ProVia brand marks, but no manufacturer contractor directory profile for the Dallas entity was located during this research, so those are recorded as stated by the company rather than as verified certifications.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

The city does not publish an expiry date for these registrations, so ask the company to confirm its registration is still current.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0594 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

A coworker recommended Marshal from United Roofing after a storm blew thru with hail and wind. My coworkers roof was covered via insurance and Marshall was onsite when my adjuster came and helped get my roof covered as well! He was very thorough and very responsive!! Who does that these days? He dealt with my insurance and made the process painless for me. If you suspect storm damage or just need a new roof I’d highly recommend this company!! What a blessing they were to my family and I.

I’ve had excellent results on 2 big projects working with United Roofers and Stan Knappen! In the summer of 2023, a major storm damaged my roof, fence and backyard deck. Stan’s crew worked on several nearby homes and I checked with my neighbors who gave them outstanding reviews. The team was very skilled, worked efficiently and professionally. Stan’s communication skills were excellent and he helped me with everything my insurance company needed. Within the year I was notified my dilapidated garage was considered a hazard and needed to be torn down on a short deadline. I immediately contacted Stan who, once again, did an excellent job with the demolition and cleanup in the space of one day. He also researched to find the best deal for me on the rental of the large dumpster required for the job. I plan to work with Stan and his outstanding United Roofers crew to build a new garage. Highly recommend hiring this 5-star company for the highest quality work they provide!

Frequently asked

Is unitedroofers.co a real website, or a typo for a .com?
It is real and it is theirs. The .co address resolves to the company's own site, and the same unitedroofers.co domain is the website recorded on the company's RCAT record and on its Dallas BBB profile, alongside the same (469) 783-8064 phone number. It is a deliberate short domain, not a mistyped .com.
Is this the same company as United Roofing & Sheetmetal in San Benito or Bryan?
No. They are three separate and unrelated Texas businesses that happen to share the word United. This listing is United Roofing & General Contractors of Dallas, at 4215 Munger Ave in Dallas County. United Roofing & Sheetmetal in San Benito and United Roofing & Sheetmetal in Bryan are different companies with different owners, addresses and credentials, and nothing on this page applies to them.
Does Texas issue a state roofing licence?
No. Texas has no statewide roofing contractor licence, so no Texas roofer can truthfully claim to be state licensed for roofing. What is verifiable is current general liability and workers compensation insurance, trade association standing such as RCAT, BBB record, and city contractor registration where it applies.
What is the difference between RCAT membership and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas offers plain membership, which means a company joined and pays dues, and a separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (RRL, CRL or CRRL) obtained through examination and continuing education. They are not the same and one does not imply the other, so check which status a listing actually shows.
Is United Roofing & General Contractors BBB accredited?
Yes. Its BBB profile with BBB serving North Central Texas shows the business as a BBB Accredited Business since 6 June 2021 with an A+ rating, filed as United Roofing and General Contractors LLC at 4215 Munger Ave, Dallas.
How long has the Dallas business been operating?
The BBB profile records the Texas LLC as incorporated on 24 January 2021, so roughly five years locally. The company's own about page dates the wider United Roofing brand to 2005, which reflects the multi state organisation rather than the Dallas entity. Both figures are reported here so you can judge for yourself.
Where else does the company operate?
Its own site presents United Roofing as a multi state operation with offices listed in Lombard, Illinois and Kalamazoo, Michigan in addition to Dallas. The address shown in the site footer is the Illinois one. Only the Dallas location is covered by this Texas listing.
Are impact resistant shingles worth it in Dallas?
Dallas County sits squarely in Texas hail country and most local roof replacements begin as a hail claim. Class 4 impact resistant shingles are rated against a steel ball impact test that cracks standard shingles, and most Texas insurers offer a premium discount for them. Ask your own carrier what the discount is worth on your policy before you pay the upgrade.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Dallas?
Generally yes, and it is a city matter. Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so roofing permit and inspection rules are set by each city and county. The City of Dallas runs its own permitting process for reroofs. Ask the contractor to confirm what is required and to pull the permit under its own name rather than yours.
What should a Dallas homeowner ask before signing after a hail storm?
Ask the insurer to send certificates of general liability and workers compensation directly. Get a written scope covering shingle line, underlayment, decking replacement rate and price, flashing and ventilation. Understand that under Texas law a contractor cannot act as your public insurance adjuster or negotiate your claim on your behalf, so be clear about who is doing what. Separate the manufacturer material warranty from the workmanship warranty, and do not hand over your full insurance cheque before work is complete.
