About

RHR Roofing Co is a family owned and veteran owned roofing contractor operating from 23690 FM 3009 in Garden Ridge, in Comal County just north east of San Antonio. The company markets itself across the greater San Antonio area and the Hill Country corridor, and its own pages describe more than 30 years of combined roofing experience passed down through the family. BBB records show the business itself was formed in February 2021. The work is mostly residential: roof replacement and installation, roof repair, leak and broken shingle work, and hail, wind and storm damage. RHR Roofing Co also takes on commercial roofing and new construction, offers gutter work and a maintenance membership, and assists homeowners with roofing insurance claims. Roofing systems listed on its site cover shingle, metal and tile. The company's published service map is unusually wide for a Comal County operation, reaching from San Antonio, Schertz, Cibolo, Converse, Live Oak, Universal City and Kirby out to New Braunfels, Seguin, Bulverde, Spring Branch, Canyon Lake, Boerne, Kerrville, San Marcos, Kyle, Lockhart, Floresville, Pleasanton and Hondo. RCAT lists RHR Roofing as a Member, and the company has been BBB Accredited with an A+ rating since August 2021.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

RHR Roofing LLC absolutely rescued us during one of the worst stretches of rain we’ve seen in San Antonio. It felt like a hurricane with nonstop storms, and unfortunately our rental property started leaking in multiple places throughout the house. Our tenants contacted us letting us know water was coming in, and we immediately reached out to RHR Roofing LLC. Rhett and his team responded quickly and came out to patch the roof right away. The roof was leaking in about 7–10 different areas, and they worked hard to stop the damage and protect our home during the storms. Even though they already had other major projects scheduled, they still made sure we were taken care of and literally saved our house from what could have been catastrophic damage. About two weeks later, they got us fully on the schedule and installed a brand new roof. Not only is the quality outstanding, but our roof is now easily one of the best-looking roofs on the block! Most importantly, our tenants are happy, dry, and comfortable again. The customer service from Rhett was absolutely top-tier from start to finish. Honest, responsive, professional, and genuinely caring throughout the entire process. If we ever have roofing issues again, RHR Roofing LLC will be our first call without hesitation, and we’ll gladly recommend them to all of our friends and family. Thank you again to Rhett and the entire RHR Roofing LLC team for going above and beyond for us!

RHR is a professional, fast and friendly business. There was a time I paid to get work done on a roof, and unfortunately I paid and they never returned ( so disappointed and frustrating). RHR not only stepped in with the labor, they donated the material and had us a roof in less than 1/2 a day. We not only established a trust, we established a life long relationship that still thrives today, forever grateful. Everyone who ever did, does, or is thinking about doing business with them.... guaranteed to see first hand there work with there hearts and there hands!!! So appreciative!! I can't say enough great things about RHR Roofing. We suffered wind damage in early March and lost a bunch of shingles. I was referred to RHR by a neighbor so I called. David was out the very same day to patch our roof until we could complete our insurance claim. He met with our adjuster on our behalf (we weren't able to be there). Our insurance agreed to a full replacement! Ultimately we decided to pay the difference and upgrade to a metal roof. David truly went above and beyond for us to make sure everything was done right and to our satisfaction. We couldn't be happier and we will definitely refer all of our friends and family to RHR!

We had a great experience with RHR Roofing. Woody came out and looked at our roof and gave us all the paperwork we needed for the insurance claim, then met the insurance inspector on the roof to point out details and make sure our claim would be approved. He was able to get us scheduled within a week, and the team had the whole roof replaced in one day! I was definitely not expecting the whole process to be so quick and painless, and I would highly recommend working with RHR.

Chris and Rhett both came out to check out my roof and to bid the replacement. They worked hand in hand with our insurance company to ensure the roof was replaced quickly. The quality of work done far exceeded our expectations. They listened to everything we wanted and then went above and beyond. Any roof issues, repairs, questions or replacements in the future… RHR will be my first call.

Frequently asked

Does RHR Roofing Co hold a Texas roofing licence?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no roofer in Texas has one. The things worth checking are current liability and workers' compensation insurance, RCAT status, and any city registration where the work is being done. RHR Roofing Co is listed by RCAT as a Member and has been BBB Accredited with an A+ rating since August 2021.
What does RHR stand for?
The company does not say. Neither the RHR Roofing Co website, its BBB profile nor its RCAT record explains the initials, so we are not going to guess at an expansion. If the meaning matters to you, ask the company directly.
The company says over 30 years of experience but BBB says it started in 2021. Which is it?
Both, and they measure different things. BBB records the legal entity, which was formed on 25 February 2021. The 30 year figure on the company's own pages refers to accumulated roofing experience among the family and crew, not the age of the business. When you compare contractors, it is worth being clear which number you are being quoted.
What does RCAT Member status mean here?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Member means the company belongs to the association and pays dues. It is a different and lesser thing than RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which involves testing and verified experience. RHR Roofing is a Member and does not hold the Licensed credential.
Is Garden Ridge in a windstorm inspection area?
No. WPI-8 windstorm certificates and TWIA coverage apply only to the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties and parts of Harris County. Comal County is inland and none of that applies. The relevant weather risk here is hail and severe thunderstorm wind, not coastal windstorm.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it around San Antonio?
Often yes. South central Texas gets regular damaging hail, and Class 4 is the top impact rating under UL 2218. Many Texas insurers offer a premium credit for a qualifying Class 4 roof, but the size of the discount and the approved product list vary by carrier, so confirm with your own insurer before committing to a shingle.
Can RHR Roofing handle my hail insurance claim?
The company assists with roofing insurance claims, including documenting hail, wind and storm damage. Note that Texas law does not allow a roofing contractor to act as a public adjuster or negotiate your claim for you. They can inspect, photograph, meet the adjuster and provide a scope and price, but the claim remains between you and your insurer.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Comal County?
There is no statewide building code covering this, so it depends on the jurisdiction. Garden Ridge, Schertz, Cibolo, New Braunfels and the City of San Antonio each set their own roofing permit and inspection rules, and unincorporated Comal County is different again. Ask your contractor to confirm in writing who pulls the permit for your specific address.
Does RHR Roofing hold manufacturer certifications like GAF or Owens Corning?
We did not find RHR Roofing Co in GAF's, Owens Corning's or CertainTeed's own contractor directories, and the company does not advertise a manufacturer certification on its site. That is not a mark against the work; it does mean any enhanced manufacturer system warranty should be confirmed in writing before you sign.
What should I ask before signing with any San Antonio area roofer?
Ask for the insurance certificate to be sent to you directly by the insurer, covering both general liability and workers' compensation. Ask whether the crews are employees or subcontractors, what the workmanship warranty covers and for how long, who pulls the permit, and get the full scope in writing including decking replacement, underlayment, flashing, ventilation and debris removal.
