Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

My journey with Patrick started about two years ago. After inspecting my roof, he sat down with me and got on the phone with my insurance company to start the claim process. They fought me on everything, but in the end they paid my claim. It finally paid off today with my new roof installation. Their communication is second to none, their workmanship is excellent, and they cleaned up like they were never even here. As professional a company as you will ever find. We are super excited with the result.

Performance Roofing and Construction was highly professional, helpful, and did top quality work in a timely manner for a great price. Gator and the project manager followed up after the work was done to make sure that I was fully satisfied with the job. I would definitely recommend Performance and Gator to anyone who was looking to get their roof replaced or to handle any other construction projects.

I had a warranty issue come up and the team was amazing from start to finish. They responded quickly, showed up when they said they would, and took the time to inspect everything thoroughly. They explained what they found, fixed the issue without any hassle, and made sure I was completely satisfied before they left. It’s great to know they stand behind their work even after the job is done. Excellent customer service and a company that truly cares about its customers. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roofing company!

Patrick and his team do a great job, they replaced our roof in a day and it's the best this house from 85' has ever looked. Great communication the whole time, and generally a quieter process than I thought it'd be! Thorough and quick, no nails left behind, no hidden fees, just a brand new roof with gorgeous rustic black shingles that can withstand up to 160mph winds, just in time for hurricane season! Thanks Patrick, I'm recommending y'all to everyone I know.

Frequently asked

Is Performance Roofing & Construction licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license, so no Texas roofer is state licensed. Performance Roofing & Construction is an RCAT Member, meaning it belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Note that plain membership is different from RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential; the meaningful checks for any roofer are insurance verification and local registration.
Alvin is in Brazoria County. What is TWIA and does it affect my roof?
Brazoria is one of the 14 first tier coastal counties covered by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, the insurer of last resort for wind and hail on the coast. If your home is in a TWIA designated catastrophe area, roof work generally needs to comply with windstorm building requirements for the home to keep or obtain TWIA wind coverage.
What is a WPI-8 certificate and does the roofer issue it?
A WPI-8 (Certificate of Compliance) documents that construction, including a new roof, meets windstorm building code requirements in TWIA territory. The roofer does not issue it: the roofer builds to the windstorm specification, and the certificate comes through the Texas Department of Insurance process or a Texas licensed professional engineer who inspects the work. Ask who will inspect and certify before the job starts.
Does Performance Roofing & Construction advertise windstorm (WPI-8) certified roof installations?
Its website does not mention WPI-8, TWIA, or windstorm certification, so that capability is not confirmed here. Because Alvin sits in TWIA territory, homeowners who carry or want TWIA wind coverage should ask the company directly whether the installation will be built to windstorm requirements and inspected for a WPI-8 certificate.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
An RCAT Member pays dues to the association. An RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor has additionally passed RCAT's voluntary licensing exam and met its insurance and reference requirements. They are not equivalent, so ask which one a company holds. Performance Roofing & Construction is listed as a Member.
Does the company help with storm damage insurance claims?
Yes, insurance claim navigation support is part of its storm restoration service. You file the claim with your own insurer (or TWIA for wind policies on the coast) and meet the adjuster; the roofer documents damage and provides the repair scope and estimate.
Can a roofer pay or waive my insurance deductible?
No. Texas law has prohibited contractors from waiving, absorbing, or rebating insurance deductibles since 2019. Any company offering to do so is violating state law, which is a strong reason to look elsewhere.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Alvin?
Texas permitting runs city by city and county by county; there is no statewide code enforcement. Check with the City of Alvin's permitting office (or your own city or county) before work begins, and in coastal areas confirm how windstorm inspection requirements apply to your address.
What manufacturer credentials does the company state?
The company states it holds CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator, TAMKO, and GAF certifications. These are company stated credentials; homeowners can ask for current certificates or verify a contractor at each manufacturer's own online directory before signing.
Does Performance Roofing & Construction offer free estimates or financing?
Yes. It advertises free inspections and estimates and 0% financing options, and its Alvin office (631 S Douglas St, phone 281-824-4086) is open Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
