About

Bay Area Roofers, Inc. has served the south Houston and Clear Lake market since 1983 from 2115 County Road 129 in Pearland, Brazoria County. BBB records put the business start at August 1983 and list Nathan Riley as president. The company is BBB accredited with an A+ rating and has held that accreditation since January 2001, one of the longest accreditation runs in this directory. Manufacturer credentials are the strongest part of its file. Bay Area Roofers is a GAF Factory Certified Master Elite contractor with a GAF President's Club 3-Star Residential designation, an Owens Corning certified contractor, and a James Hardie Elite Preferred contractor for fibre cement siding. Master Elite status is what lets it write GAF system warranties including the Weather Stopper System Plus and the Silver and Gold Pledge workmanship warranties. It also lists Fortified Roof certification, a BBB Gold Star Certificate for customer service (2007 to 2019) and Angie's List Super Service recognition (2008 to 2019). The RCAT directory lists it as a Member since 2017 with Nathan Riley as the contact, which is the dues paying tier rather than RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential. Work extends well beyond roofing into siding, patio covers, gutters, exterior painting, window replacement, insulation and solar attic ventilation. Roofing systems named on the site are composition shingle, low slope and flat roof systems, and snap lock metal. Coverage runs through Pearland, Friendswood, League City, Clear Lake, Kemah, Seabrook, Dickinson, Texas City, La Marque, Santa Fe, Alvin, Pasadena, Deer Park, San Leon, Baycliff and Houston. Because Brazoria County sits in the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association coastal territory, homeowners carrying TWIA windstorm coverage should confirm the WPI-8 certificate of compliance process before roof work begins. Bay Area Roofers does not publish windstorm certification credentials on its own site, so ask about it directly.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I highly recommend Bay Area Roofers, Inc. for any roofing or custom patio project. We recently replaced our 18-year-old roof and decided it was the perfect time to finally build the custom covered patio we’ve dreamed of since buying the house. After receiving several quotes and a solid referral, we chose Bay Area Roofers, and it was the best decision we could have made. From the start, Karl provided a wealth of information regarding our options, coordination, and timing. Both Karl and Herminio, the foreman, flawlessly managed the entire process. They coordinated both projects so efficiently that as soon as the framing was complete, the roofing crew was ready to step in. They were incredibly responsive—both onsite and offsite—and stayed ahead of every question we had. They even went the extra mile by connecting us with their gutter specialists to extend our existing system. Their pricing is competitive, but their quality of work is truly beyond excellent. The customer service from the entire crew and staff was world-class!

Five stars for Bay Area Roofers! The entire process was extremely smooth from start to finish. Karl provided a clear and thorough estimate and explained the materials being used as well as the warranties around both the materials and the workmanship. Sam did a great job with scheduling, confirming colors, etc. and Herminio did a great job managing the work onsite. The quality of the roof looks excellent, and reflects not only the quality materials but most of all the experience of the installers and those managing the project. Everything was handled professionally and efficiently. Highly recommend!

Bay Area Roofers did a great job on my home. They were very competitive on their price. They arrived right on time, worked hard all day and were done that afternoon. They protected my windows and plants, cleaned up everything. It looks great. Would definitely recommend them to others.

Bay Area Roofers did a great job with our roof. We had a raccoon burrow into our roof after some heavy rain. Aside from needing to repair the damage, it brought up a concern for any rotted wood that might be on the roof. Riley was very helpful during the bid process and answered all our questions. A nice bonus was that the job was scheduled sooner than expected; Sam was very helpful and helped us get scheduled quickly. On the day of the job, Herminio and Santiago were very helpful in directing their crew. They also let me know about some fascia that they recommended we replace, which we did as they showed some signs of rot. They also did a nice update to the garage roof by adding a vent to it. Overall, we’re very happy with the work that Bay Area Roofers has done for us and are relieved in the greater trust that we can have in our roof. Thank you Bay Area Roofers!

Frequently asked

Does Bay Area Roofers hold a Texas state roofing licence?
No Texas roofer does. Texas issues no statewide roofing licence, so there is no state number to verify. The credentials that actually exist are voluntary and manufacturer based. In this company's case that means GAF Master Elite, Owens Corning certification, James Hardie Elite Preferred, RCAT membership and BBB accreditation, plus its liability and workers compensation insurance.
Is Bay Area Roofers an RCAT Member or an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
The RCAT directory lists Bay Area Roofers, Inc. as a Member since 2017, with Nathan Riley as the contact, and the company's own site describes itself as a member in good standing. That is RCAT's dues paying tier. It is not RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires testing and continuing education.
Pearland is in Brazoria County. Do I need a WPI-8 windstorm certificate?
If your property carries windstorm coverage through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, then yes, roof work generally has to be documented with a WPI-8 certificate of compliance through the Texas Department of Insurance windstorm inspection process. Brazoria County sits inside the TWIA coastal territory, so this applies to a lot of Pearland homeowners. Confirm with your agent before work starts, and make sure the inspection is scheduled at the right stage, because certifying after the fact is much harder.
Does Bay Area Roofers do windstorm certified work?
The company does not publish any windstorm certification, WPI-8 or TWIA credentials on its website, so this listing cannot confirm it either way. If you need a WPI-8 on your roof, ask the company directly and in writing before you sign, and confirm who is engaging the TDI appointed windstorm inspector and who is responsible for filing.
What does GAF Master Elite mean, and what is the President's Club?
Master Elite is GAF's top factory certification for residential contractors, and GAF states fewer than two percent of roofing contractors hold it. It is what allows a contractor to offer GAF's enhanced system warranties, including the Weather Stopper System Plus and the Silver and Gold Pledge workmanship warranties of up to 25 years. President's Club 3-Star Residential is a further GAF recognition tier. Neither is a government licence, and neither guarantees the top warranty is included on your job, so ask which warranty is actually written into your contract.
How long has Bay Area Roofers been in business?
Since 1983. The BBB profile records a business start date of 1 August 1983 and lists Nathan Riley as president. The company has been BBB accredited with an A+ rating since 18 January 2001.
What areas does the company serve?
Its site lists Alvin, Baycliff, Clear Lake, Deer Park, Dickinson, Friendswood, Houston, Kemah, League City, La Marque, Pasadena, Pearland, Santa Fe, San Leon, Seabrook and Texas City.
Does it do more than roofing?
Yes. Published services include siding, patio covers, gutter repair and installation, exterior painting, window replacement, insulation, Attic Breeze solar attic ventilation and general remodeling and exterior alterations. It is a James Hardie Elite Preferred contractor on the siding side.
What roofing systems does it install?
Composition shingle using GAF and Owens Corning products, low slope and flat roof systems, and snap lock metal roofing. It also lists Fortified Roof certification, which is a resilience standard focused on how the deck, underlayment and edges are fastened to resist wind uplift.
What should a homeowner check before signing on the Texas Gulf Coast?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer covering general liability and workers compensation. Get a written scope naming shingle, underlayment, fastening pattern, drip edge and ventilation, because those details drive both wind performance and windstorm certification. Confirm the warranty and who honours it. Confirm who pulls the permit, since Texas has no statewide building code and permitting is handled locally, in Pearland's case by the City of Pearland with Brazoria County requirements in play. And if you carry TWIA coverage, settle the WPI-8 question before the first shingle comes off.
