About
Montesco General Contractors is a Dallas-Fort Worth roofing and general contracting company that markets itself publicly as Montesco Roofing and Construction. The RCAT directory lists the company at 1241 W Green Oaks Blvd in Arlington with Mirian Valenzuela as the contact, and the Better Business Bureau file for Montesco General Contractor LLC shows an office at 5000 Riverside Dr in Irving. The company's own website states it has been serving DFW homeowners for 13 years.
The work split is residential and commercial. On the residential side the company handles new roof installation, storm damage replacement and repair, and it puts real emphasis on documenting hail and wind damage and walking homeowners through the insurance claim process. On the commercial side it lists TPO, flat roof and built-up roofing systems, plus roof inspections with photo documentation.
Montesco appears in Owens Corning's own contractor directory as an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, and it is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating (accredited July 2025). The company also states on its site that it is GAF certified, though no matching listing was found in GAF's own contractor directory. We report credentials as we find them and verify insurance separately.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration
Not checked for ArlingtonTexas has no state roofing licence, and city rules differ: some require contractor registration, some run a voluntary registry, some neither. Ask this company and your local permit office.
Status Current in the RCAT directory (no published licence number for this record)
RCAT member ID2138 (member since 2026)
Licence boardRCAT, Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (Texas issues no state roofing licence; RCAT runs the licensing programme)
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

This company is working in my neighborhood and completely cut my internet line this morning — even though the lines were clearly marked. I work from home, so I’m unable to work at all today. To make matters worse, they’ve blocked off the entire alleyway, so I can’t even leave my house to go work somewhere else. There’s no foreman or supervisor on-site who speaks English or takes responsibility. This kind of careless and uncoordinated work is unacceptable. If you care about professionalism, communication, and basic respect for homeowners, look elsewhere.

Frequently asked
Does Texas issue a state roofing license?
No. There is no statewide roofing contractor license in Texas. The meaningful checks are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, RCAT status, manufacturer certifications, and whatever registration your city or county requires.
Is Montesco an RCAT Member or an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
This listing records Montesco General Contractors as an RCAT Member. RCAT membership means the company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. That is different from the separately earned RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires an exam and continuing education. The two are not interchangeable.
What does Owens Corning Preferred Contractor mean?
It is the mid tier of Owens Corning's contractor network. Preferred contractors meet Owens Corning's requirements for insurance, licensing where applicable and customer service standards, and they can offer certain extended system warranties. Montesco appears in Owens Corning's own contractor directory at that level. It is a manufacturer program, not a government license.
The company says it is GAF certified. Can I confirm that?
The claim appears on the company's website, but no matching Montesco listing turned up in GAF's own contractor directory during our research. If a GAF system warranty matters to you, ask the company for its GAF contractor ID and confirm it directly with GAF before signing.
Which city is the company actually based in?
The RCAT directory lists 1241 W Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76013, in Tarrant County. The BBB profile lists 5000 Riverside Dr, Suite 100, Building 6, Irving, TX 75039, in Dallas County. Both are current published addresses. Either way the company works across the DFW metroplex.
What is the main roof risk in the DFW metroplex?
Hail, by a wide margin. Tarrant and Dallas counties sit in the North Texas hail corridor, and most roof replacements here start with a hail or wind storm rather than simple age related wear.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it in Arlington?
Often yes. Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 impact test, and many Texas insurers give a premium discount for a qualifying roof. Confirm the discount with your own carrier first, then have the exact product and its rating written into the contract.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement here?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so it depends on the municipality. Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie and most DFW cities require a permit for a full roof replacement, with a final inspection. Ask in writing who pulls the permit and who pays for it.
How should I handle a hail claim?
Photograph the damage, report it to your insurer promptly, and keep your own copy of the adjuster's scope. A contractor can document damage and meet the adjuster, but under Texas law a roofing contractor cannot act as your public adjuster or negotiate the claim on your behalf. Be cautious of anyone offering to cover or waive your deductible.
What should I ask before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent straight from the agent, a written scope naming the exact shingle or membrane and underlayment, confirmation of who pulls the permit, and a clear split between the manufacturer's material warranty and the contractor's own workmanship warranty and how long each lasts.
