About

D. Bassett Roofing & Renovation is an Arlington based roofing and remodeling contractor working across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The company's own site and its BBB file both date the business to 1986, when founder Don Bassett started it after beginning his roofing career as an installer in 1980. The present entity was organized as a Texas LLC in July 2017. Don Bassett is listed as President/Owner and Tracy J. Bassett as Co-Owner, and the office is at 7815 S. Cooper St in Arlington. The work splits between roofing and interior/exterior renovation. On the roofing side the company handles residential and commercial roof replacement, storm and hail damage repair, and gutter installation. On the renovation side it does kitchens, bathrooms, custom home upgrades and patio covers. Project photos on the site name GAF Timberline HDZ and Timberline HD ArmorShield shingles as well as a Tamko Titan Class 3 product, and a Class 4 charcoal shingle, which is the impact rated category North Texas homeowners typically ask about after a hail season. Credentials are verifiable rather than self asserted. GAF's own contractor directory carries a profile for D Bassett Roofing & Renovation LLC in Arlington under ID 1122651, the same ID the company publishes on its affiliations page, where it dates the GAF certification to May 2021. RCAT's directory lists the company as a member since 2016 with Don Bassett holding the CRRL Licensed Roofing Contractor credential and Commercial & Residential Roofing License #03-0300. The company also states current NTRCA membership (Don Bassett is a past NTRCA board member and past president) and a Directorii vetting. Its BBB file shows an A+ rating but the company is not BBB accredited.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0300 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We had Don & his team change our backsplash, update our light fixtures & add a beam in our living room as well as tongue & groove in our hallway. They also made this beautiful privacy screen behind our pool & they did some painting and added a roof vent for the tankless water heater we put in. They did a beautiful job on all projects. Highly recommend.

Don Bassett of D. Bassett Roofing is our go to for all of our roofing needs. We have used him to replace our entire roof at our prior home and also to repair minor roof leaks and chimney repairs. He consistently does excellent work at a reasonable price. Don does quality work, but more importantly, he is trustworthy. If you want quality work, use D. Bassett Roofing.

Don and Alberto did a fantastic job! You can't tell that the window and surrounding area was patched. They cleared the upper and lower roofs, and took all of the trash and debris away, leaving the work area in better shape than when they arrived. We couldn't be more pleased. Don worked on our home years ago, and his professionalism and quality of work deserved our loyalty. We had no hesitation in calling him again for this project.

Loved the work done by Mr. Bassett and his crew. We had our 2-story garage and overhead apartment re-sided and painted, and some roof damage repaired. The crews were courteous and professional, focused on the work and getting the job done correctly, as it hadn't been done when the building was originally built in the early 90's. Don identified the issues, communicated to us what would need to be done and provided us with a fair estimate. When then work started, his crews followed through with excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. We sincerely appreciate Don for taking on a "smaller" project and helping us keep our older property updated, attractive, and in good shape for many more years to come. 10/10 recommend.

Frequently asked

Is D. Bassett Roofing & Renovation licensed by the State of Texas?
No, and no roofer is. Texas does not issue a state roofing licence. What exists instead is voluntary industry credentialing. Don Bassett holds the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL) under Commercial & Residential Roofing License #03-0300, and the company states it carries general liability insurance. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer or agent.
What is the difference between an RCAT member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
RCAT membership means a company pays dues and belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and continuing education and attaches to a named individual. D. Bassett is listed as an RCAT member since 2016, and Don Bassett additionally holds the CRRL credential.
How do I verify the GAF certification?
Look the company up on GAF's own contractor directory rather than trusting a badge on a website. D Bassett Roofing & Renovation LLC has a profile there for its Arlington location under contractor ID 1122651, which matches the ID the company publishes on its own affiliations page. A manufacturer certification also determines which enhanced warranties a contractor may register.
Is the company BBB accredited?
No. The BBB file for D. Bassett Roofing & Renovation, LLC shows an A+ rating but the business is not BBB accredited. Accreditation is a paid programme and its absence is not a mark against a company. The rating, the complaint history and the business start date on the file are the more useful pieces of information.
Do they install impact-resistant shingles for hail?
Yes. Project material listings on the company site include a Class 4 charcoal shingle and GAF Timberline HD ArmorShield, both in the impact-rated family, plus a Tamko Titan Class 3. Class 4 is the highest UL 2218 impact rating and is the grade most often tied to a Texas homeowner insurance premium discount. Ask your carrier what documentation it wants before the job starts.
Does WPI-8 or windstorm certification apply in Arlington?
No. WPI-8 certificates are a Texas Windstorm Insurance Association requirement for the 14 first-tier Gulf Coast counties and parts of Harris County east of Highway 146. Tarrant County is nowhere near that zone. The controlling risk in Arlington is hail and straight-line wind, not coastal windstorm.
Who pulls the roofing permit in Arlington?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting is set city by city. In practice the roofing contractor pulls the permit with the City of Arlington and the city inspects. Confirm in writing which party is responsible before work begins, and ask whether the quote includes the permit fee.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Tarrant County?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent from the insurer, the specific shingle line and impact rating being installed, the length and terms of the workmanship warranty as distinct from the manufacturer warranty, who pulls the permit, whether decking replacement is priced per sheet, and a written total rather than an insurance proceeds placeholder.
Will they work with my hail insurance claim?
The company advertises storm damage repair and roof replacement, which in North Texas is largely claim driven work. Be aware that in Texas a contractor may not act as your public adjuster on the same job, and may not waive or absorb your deductible. Get the scope in writing and compare it line by line against your carrier's estimate.
What are the office hours and how do I reach them?
The contact page lists Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 8:30am to 4pm, with the office at 7815 S. Cooper St, Arlington, TX 76001. The phone number is (817) 265-7444 and the email address is info@dbassettroofing.com.
