About

Empire Roofing is a large commercial and industrial roofing contractor headquartered at 4801 Esco Drive in south Fort Worth. Ronnie and Sandra McGlothlin founded the company in 1982 with a crew of eight, and it grew into one of the biggest commercial roofers in Texas, reporting more than 500 employees and around 90 million dollars in annual revenue before its sale. Since July 2021 it has operated as Empire Roofing, a Tecta America Company, part of the national Tecta America commercial roofing group, with branches across Texas and in several other states. The Fort Worth office is the corporate headquarters and serves the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, including Dallas and Arlington. Crews install and repair the full range of low-slope and metal commercial systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, built-up asphalt and gravel, standing seam metal), backed by an in-house metal shop, a waterproofing division, preventative maintenance programs and 24/7 emergency leak response. Homeowners should note that Empire Roofing is not a residential shingle company. Its work is for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings, and its client list includes national names such as American Airlines, CBRE and Kraft Foods.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Insurance Required by RCAT Licensed credential (liability and workers’ comp cover are conditions of this credential; ask for the current certificate)

City/county registration Registered — Dallas Check the register ↗ Contractor Certificate of Registration (Dallas City Code Chapter 52), registration type Roofing (RO). This company appears on the city's own list of registered contractors. The city publishes no certificate number or expiry date for this programme, so ask to see the registration itself before work starts.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0035 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Caleb was wonderful. He communicated every step of the way. He provided progress photos and explained each step to job. The work was done efficiently and cost effectively.

Hired them to do roof repairs. Had roof leaks show up approximately two weeks after they made repairs. When I called them to stand behind their work, they wanted to charge me a service call for coming out to look at it.

Tom and team were outstanding. They worked with us from beginning to end. Evaluated condition of roof and then worked directly with insurance to get like for like coverage, versus the low ball initial offer from insurance. Coordinated with us throughout the job and follow up on punchlist items was impeccable. Highly recommend and my neighbors are commenting on how great the new roof looks

From quoting to completion the team at Empire were 5 stars all the way. They were on time, fast, exceptional at installing and my most favorite trait was how clean they were! We left on vacation and came back to a complete roof with a clean yard and drive way. If you need a roof you should should only trust the team at Empire Roofing and you will have the job done right!

We had a leak on the roof above the porch. They found where the leak was coming from. Today we had a lot of rain, what we didn't have was a leak. Thank you empire roofing, Enrique Trevino and Bobby Flores.

Frequently asked

Does Empire Roofing in Fort Worth do residential roofing for homeowners?
No. Empire Roofing is a commercial and industrial roofing contractor serving offices, retail, warehouses and institutional buildings. Homeowners needing a shingle roof should look for a residential roofing company instead.
Is Empire Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license for any contractor. Empire Roofing holds the voluntary RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which is earned through testing and vetting, and trust otherwise rests on verified insurance and any city registration requirements.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
An RCAT Member simply pays association dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is separately earned through an exam and background review. This Fort Worth registration carries the Licensed credential.
Is Fort Worth the company headquarters?
Yes. The 4801 Esco Drive office in south Fort Worth is listed as Corporate on the company's locations page, and the company was founded in Fort Worth in 1982. Its other Texas offices in El Paso, San Antonio, the Houston area and Pflugerville are branch locations.
What commercial roof systems does Empire Roofing install?
TPO, EPDM and PVC single-ply membranes, modified bitumen, built-up asphalt and gravel, standing seam metal, and roof coatings, plus waterproofing and building envelope work.
Who owns Empire Roofing?
Ronnie and Sandra McGlothlin founded the company in 1982. Tecta America, a national commercial roofing group, acquired it in July 2021, and it now operates as Empire Roofing, a Tecta America Company.
Does Empire Roofing offer emergency leak repair in Dallas Fort Worth?
Yes. The company advertises 24/7 emergency leak response for commercial buildings across the metroplex.
Can Empire Roofing help after a hailstorm in Fort Worth?
Yes. North Texas sits in Hail Alley and commercial roofs take frequent hail hits. Empire handles storm-related commercial repairs, replacements and due diligence inspections, including impact-rated membrane and metal assemblies.
Do I need a permit for commercial roof work in Fort Worth?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is handled city by city. Commercial reroofing in Fort Worth, Dallas and Arlington generally requires a city permit, which the contractor should pull as part of the job.
What should a property manager ask before signing a roofing contract?
Ask for current certificates of general liability and workers compensation insurance, the exact manufacturer warranty being offered, a written scope and schedule, local commercial references, and details of any maintenance program.
