About

Luby Construction Group is a North Texas roofing and storm restoration contractor. The Better Business Bureau records one limited liability company, incorporated on 27 June 2018, with Dylan Luby as managing owner and Brady Luby as managing member. Its BBB file gives a headquarters address at 11950 FM 981 in Blue Ridge, while the contact page on its own website publishes a Van Alstyne address at 120 E Marshall Street. The residential side covers hail and wind damage repair, full roof replacement, emergency tarping, roof inspections and insurance claim support, and extends into gutters, garage door replacement, fence construction and staining, siding and window repair and interior restoration. A separate commercial division handles flat roof repair and replacement, TPO membrane systems, waterproofing, coatings and emergency repairs, and the company says that division works across the whole of Texas. Product brands named on the website are GAF, CertainTeed and Tamko. Stated coverage includes the Dallas-Fort Worth area (Dallas, Wylie, Garland, Allen, Frisco, McKinney and Arlington) plus East Texas around Tyler and Lindale. The company is BBB accredited in the North Central Texas region with an A+ rating, accredited since 8 February 2021. It describes itself as GAF certified, but it does not appear in GAF's own contractor directory for this area, so that credential is recorded as stated by the company. This record and the Midland record belong to the same business; see the notes for the duplicate registration verdict.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0485 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

A few months ago, we experienced the worst hail storm I have ever seen. It completely annihilated our street. Our home needed a new roof, new fence, new gutters, new windows, and new paint. Instead of simply restoring everything back to what it was, we decided to take the opportunity to completely refresh the exterior. The house felt dark and heavy before. The brown tones blended together and the curb appeal lacked contrast. Lucy Construction Group helped us transform it. We upgraded to a Level 4 impact-resistant roof, installed a board-on-board fence, added additional gutters for better drainage, replaced our windows, refreshed the paint, added shutters, and built out gables to give the home more architectural character. The change from the darker brown exterior to the brighter white palette completely elevated the look of our home. It feels cleaner, more modern, and far more custom. The added shutters and trim details gave it dimension it never had before. Trevor from Lucy Construction Group was amazing to work with. He was reliable, honest, hardworking, and detail oriented. He communicated clearly throughout the entire process and delivered quality work with his crew. In what could have been a stressful rebuild, he made everything smooth and straightforward. We could not be happier with the results and highly recommend Lucy Construction Group to anyone looking for high quality exterior work or a full transformation.

I had a fantastic experience with Luby Construction Group. Trevor in particular was wonderful to work with - he is responsive, consistent, honest, and was very patient in explaining the process for repairs. (This was my first time going through a significant storm as a home owner and my property sustained major damage.) Trevor was there every step of the way, providing thorough explanations and making the process much easier. At times when my insurance company became argumentative over aspects of my claim, Trevor advocated for me and my home. When I noticed additional storm-related damage after the fact, Trevor personally came out to take pictures for insurance, submitted supplemental claims, and provided solutions. Trevor and his team consistently went above and beyond with both quality and service, and all the repairs look incredible. He has truly been a pleasure to work with. I would recommend Luby Construction Group 100% to anyone looking to hire a contractor for home repairs or improvements.

We had a great experience with Luby Construction, specifically Trevor Mills. He arrived promptly at the stated time to our home. He was courteous and so friendly to our dogs, whom were quite excited to meet a new person. We needed an inspection of a couple of windows for our new buyer. He explained his assessment verbally, quickly remediated the issue, and gladly provided a written summary to give our buyers peace of mind. Thank you Trevor and Luby Construction!

We had a great experience with Luby Construction Group. Trevor arrived at our home on time and was professional throughout the entire visit. After completing the roof inspection and repair, he took the time to educate us on aspects of our roof we weren’t aware of, including mistakes made by the original builder. He also uploaded detailed photos to our customer profile so we could view them and keep a clear record for the future. We will definitely be using Luby Construction Group for any future roofing or construction needs. Highly recommend!

Frequently asked

Is the Van Alstyne address a real office?
It should be checked. The company's contact page gives 120 E Marshall Street, Van Alstyne, and the roofing registration for this record gives 120 E Marshall Drive, Suite E. That building is the Van Alstyne Chamber of Commerce office, which is a shared address rather than the company's own premises. Meanwhile the Better Business Bureau lists the company's headquarters at 11950 FM 981 in Blue Ridge, a rural farm to market road address. Ask for the address where crews and materials are actually based before you sign.
Why does this company appear twice in Texas roofing records?
Because one business registered two addresses. The Van Alstyne record and the Midland record share the same limited liability company, the same website, the same roofing credential number and the same telephone number. This is a duplicate registration of a single company rather than two independent branch offices.
Does Texas issue a state roofing licence?
No. Texas does not license roofing contractors at state level, so no Texas roofer is state licensed. The meaningful checks are general liability and workers compensation insurance, credentials or membership with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, city or county registration where it applies, and third party records such as the Better Business Bureau. This company holds BBB accreditation with an A+ rating.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas runs two separate things. Membership means the company pays association dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through RCAT's own requirements and examination. They are not equivalent and neither implies the other. Ask which one a contractor holds and confirm it in the RCAT directory.
Is the GAF certification verified?
Not independently. The company's website names GAF among its certifications and product brands, but Luby Construction Group is not listed in GAF's own contractor directory for the Van Alstyne area or for Midland. It is recorded here as stated by the company. If a manufacturer backed warranty matters to you, ask for the certification number and check it on GAF's own site before signing anything.
How bad is hail in Grayson and Collin counties?
Severe. The corridor from Dallas north through McKinney, Van Alstyne and Sherman sits in the core of what insurers call Hail Alley, and hail is by far the largest driver of roof claims in the area. Damage is frequently invisible from the ground, so a documented inspection with photographs after any significant storm is worth doing even when the roof looks intact from the kerb.
Are impact resistant Class 4 shingles worth the extra cost here?
In hail prone North Texas they usually are worth pricing. Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 steel ball impact test, and many Texas insurers offer a premium credit for a Class 4 roof. The credit varies by carrier and is not automatic, so get it confirmed in writing by your insurer before choosing a product, then compare the extra material cost against the annual saving.
How does a hail insurance claim usually work in Texas?
You report the loss to your carrier, an adjuster inspects and issues a scope and an estimate, and the carrier typically pays actual cash value first with the recoverable depreciation released after the work is completed and invoiced. You pay your deductible. A contractor may not lawfully absorb or rebate your deductible in Texas, and any offer to do so is a warning sign. Get the full scope in writing before work starts.
Who issues the permit for a roof replacement in this area?
Texas has no statewide building code for roofing, so permitting and inspection are handled by each city and county. Van Alstyne, Blue Ridge, McKinney, Allen and Frisco each run their own process, and a rural address outside any city limit follows different rules again. Confirm which jurisdiction your property sits in and record in the contract who pulls the permit and who schedules the inspection.
What should I ask before signing with any storm restoration contractor?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer, covering both general liability and workers compensation. Ask for the physical address where the business actually operates. Ask who pulls the permit. Ask for the workmanship warranty and the manufacturer warranty as two separate written documents. Never sign a contract that is contingent on an insurance claim before you have read the cancellation terms, and never accept an offer to waive your deductible.
