About

Jones & Associates is a family owned West Texas exterior contractor based at 701 East 40th Street in Lubbock. It was started in May 1987 by Jeff and L'Anna Jones with four employees and one truck, and the company now describes a team of more than 35 people and more than 22,000 completed projects. It trades online at thejonesboys.com, but the public brand on the website, the BBB profile and the RCAT directory is Jones & Associates. It is a genuine roofing contractor, not a general remodeler using a roofing keyword. The BBB lists it under Roofing Contractors and Metal Roofing Contractors, it appears in the RCAT directory as a roofing contractor, and its roofing work covers composition shingle systems, standing seam and exposed fastener metal, stone coated steel, TPO commercial flat roofs, silicone acrylic restoration coatings, storm and hail damage repair, and hail insurance claim support. Roofing sits alongside replacement windows, entry and storm doors, steel siding and patio covers. The company is BBB Accredited with an A plus rating and states that accreditation has been continuous since 1988. It serves the South Plains, the Permian Basin and the Texas Panhandle, and advertises a 10 year workmanship guarantee on its installations. Lubbock is squarely in hail country, so Class 4 impact resistant shingle options and claim documentation are a routine part of the conversation.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0468 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We had to replace our roof, and Will from Jones and Associates gave us straight forward estimates and plainly explained what the crews would do. The whole process from signing the contract to the day they replaced the roof was smooth with no surprises. Everyone was friendly and the stellar crew finished our roof in only 7 hours! It looks like a whole new house. I would recommend Jones and Associates to anyone who needs a new roof.

Jones & Associates replaced my steel siding in 2015. It is 2026, and my siding looks as good now as it did over eleven years ago. My experience with Jones & Associates back then was stellar. I don’t remember if I wrote a review back then, but sometimes it’s good to do one after a long time so that you can see how the product performed. I can tell you that they use the best material. The two young brothers who did my installation back then were meticulous in their work. They were neat and polite and the detail work they did on my trim corners was just amazing. They were very quiet as they worked and did not waste a moment. They cleaned up better than I have ever seen. I am now in the market for windows and doors. Who am I going to call? The Jones Boys. I see from the recent reviews that they still do great work. The proof really is in the pudding. I live in Snyder.

We choose Jones and Associates since many places do not do facia. Fortunately they do roofing and facia repair. Our roof and facia look great! Everyone was courteous and professional, from the inspection, to the installers, and talking with staff over the phone. The installation crew had their materials delivered late, but worked into the late evening and cleaned up very well. It was dark out when they finished, but stayed until everything was finished. I was amazed at how well they cleaned in the dark! I definitely recommend Jones and Associates to anyone needing home repair!

After getting a few quotes after the huge hailstorm we decided to go with Jones and Associates. Their customer service is very top notch, from the phone reps to Will who came out and did the quote. Will was very personable and actually cared about us as customers. He kept us informed on what was being replaced and the work they did, did not disappoint. They used Malarkey shingles not just any cheap material. The workers repaired everything correctly and cleaned up nicely when finished. I will always highly recommend Jones and Associates over anyone else here in West Texas. Thank you all for making this stressful experience an easy one!

Frequently asked

Is Jones & Associates the same business as the website thejonesboys.com?
Yes. The domain thejonesboys.com is the company's website, and every page, the BBB profile and the RCAT directory entry all carry the name Jones & Associates at 701 East 40th Street, Lubbock, with phone (806) 796-1913. Jones & Associates is the real public brand.
Is this actually a roofing contractor, or a general home improvement company?
It is a roofing contractor. The BBB lists it under Roofing Contractors and Metal Roofing Contractors, it appears in the RCAT roofing directory, and it installs composition shingle, metal and TPO roof systems. It also sells windows, doors, siding and patio covers, so the roofing scope sits inside a broader exteriors business.
Does Texas require a state roofing license?
No. Texas has no state roofing license, so a company cannot be state licensed for roofing. Verify insurance certificates, RCAT status and any local registration instead.
What does RCAT Licensed mean on this listing?
RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) offers plain membership, which means paying dues, and a separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL, CRL) that requires experience and testing. This listing carries the Licensed status, the stronger of the two. It is an association credential, not a government license.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Lubbock?
Lubbock and the South Plains get frequent hail. Class 4 shingles are tested against a steel ball drop and typically hold up better than standard shingles. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, so ask your carrier what the credit is before you pick a product.
Can a roofing company handle my hail insurance claim for me?
A roofer can document damage, meet the adjuster on site and explain the scope, but under Texas law a roofing contractor cannot act as your public insurance adjuster on a property it is contracted to repair. If a contractor offers to negotiate your claim as your adjuster, that is a red flag.
What warranty does the company offer?
The company states a 10 year guarantee on its own workmanship, meaning it will service faults in its installation for free during that period. Manufacturer material warranties on composition shingle systems are stated as running 30 to 50 years depending on product. Get both in writing.
How far does the company travel?
It serves the South Plains, the Permian Basin and the Texas Panhandle, naming Lubbock, Midland, Odessa, Amarillo, Sweetwater, Levelland, Slaton, Littlefield, Muleshoe, Seminole, Fluvanna and Memphis among the communities it works in.
Who handles the roofing permit in Lubbock?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so permitting and inspection are handled city by city and county by county. Inside Lubbock city limits a permit is normally required and the contractor usually pulls it. Confirm in writing who is responsible before work begins.
What should I check before signing with any West Texas roofer?
Ask for a current certificate of insurance sent directly from the agent, a written scope naming the shingle or panel product and the underlayment, the workmanship warranty in writing, the payment schedule (avoid large sums up front), and how supplements to an insurance claim will be handled.
