About

2-H Construction is a Lubbock, Texas based construction and roofing contractor founded in 2021 by Dustin Hatley, a former police officer, together with his brother. Dustin Hatley became sole owner in 2023 when his brother left the business to pursue pastoral work. The company is based at 7301 Marsha Sharp Fwy W in Lubbock and is listed in the RCAT directory as a plain Member (joined 2023), which is dues-paying membership rather than RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential. The company operates as an all-in-one contractor, offering commercial and residential roofing in metal, tile, and asphalt shingle, plus general commercial and residential construction and remodeling through its Hatley Homes division and in-house plumbing and HVAC trades. Its trade licenses include a Texas Plumbing license (#41108), a Texas HVAC license (#TACLB00038389E), and a New Mexico general contractor license (#407099). 2-H Construction reports serving West Texas and the South Plains region, including Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene, San Angelo, Midland, and Odessa, as well as eastern New Mexico.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Jerome was an outstanding project manager. This is the first time I’ve ever had a contractor who followed a schedule and kept me updated on it. Unlike other contractors, he also made necessary changes in his own priorities to meet the schedule instead of calling me to tell me why the schedule could not be met. The work quality was great and his ability to help me make decisions that fit my budget and my expectations was very helpful.

I had my roof done by this company. They came out tore it off and put back on in one day. I'm so happy with the job they did. I just hired them to do my windows. Can't wait to see the end result. Also, I've been looking at the new homes they built and they are so amazing. I may have to sell my home to buy a home they built. Truly remarkable. Thank you 2-H Construction

Frequently asked

Is 2-H Construction licensed by the State of Texas for roofing?
Texas has no statewide roofing license, so there is no state license number to verify. 2-H Construction is listed in the RCAT directory as a plain Member (joined 2023), meaning it pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas; it is not listed with RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
Plain Membership is a dues-paying status. The Licensed Roofing Contractor designation (CRRL/RRL/CRL) is a separate, additionally vetted credential. 2-H Construction currently holds standard Member status in the RCAT directory, not the Licensed credential.
Does Lubbock fall under the Texas WPI-8/TWIA coastal windstorm program?
No. WPI-8/TWIA coverage is limited to 14 first-tier counties along the Texas Gulf Coast. Lubbock County is in the South Plains of West Texas, far from the coast, so that program does not apply here.
Does West Texas see hail damage that affects roofs?
Yes, the Lubbock area and broader South Plains region experience hailstorms that can damage roofing. It is reasonable to ask any local roofer, including 2-H Construction, which impact-resistant Class 4 shingle options they carry and whether they assist with hail insurance claims.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Lubbock?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is handled city by city. Lubbock homeowners should confirm current roofing permit requirements with the City of Lubbock before work starts.
What insurance should a Texas roofing or construction contractor carry?
At minimum, general liability and workers compensation coverage. Ask 2-H Construction, or any contractor, for a current certificate of insurance before signing a contract.
How long has 2-H Construction been in business?
The company was founded in 2021 by Dustin Hatley and his brother; Dustin became sole owner in 2023.
Does 2-H Construction only do roofing?
No. Alongside commercial and residential roofing in metal, tile, and shingle, the company offers general construction and remodeling through its Hatley Homes division and holds its own Texas plumbing and HVAC trade licenses.
Is 2-H Construction licensed outside of Texas?
Yes, the company also holds a New Mexico general contractor license, consistent with its stated service area covering eastern New Mexico as well as West Texas.
What should I ask before signing a contract with 2-H Construction or any West Texas contractor?
Ask for proof of insurance, a written scope of work and price, current RCAT status, references from recent local jobs, and a clear payment and timeline schedule before any deposit is paid.
