About

Forster Construction is a family-owned roofing contractor in Lubbock, established in 1985 by Glenn Forster. Four decades on it remains family-run; the company's site lists Scott Cook as president and Kyle Forster as vice president, and it operates from 8602 Ash Ave in Lubbock (Lubbock County). Its tagline is roofing done right the first time, every time. The company handles both residential and commercial work across the South Plains and West Texas. Residential services cover shingle, architectural metal, and stone-coated metal roofing; commercial services cover flat and sloped systems, including TPO, built-up roofing, and metal roof coatings, plus roof repair, inspections, and leak investigation. Its service area spans Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland, Odessa, Abilene, San Angelo, Plainview, Levelland, Brownfield, Big Spring, and Sweetwater in Texas, and Clovis, Hobbs, and Lovington in New Mexico. Forster Construction is BBB accredited with an A+ rating and has held accreditation since 2001, one of the longer BBB track records among Lubbock roofers. The company states it is bonded and works in both Texas and New Mexico (New Mexico, unlike Texas, licenses contractors at the state level).

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0329 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We loved working with Kyle and the Forster team! This was our first time making an insurance claim on our home and they were so helpful and took care of us through the entire process. Such a blessing to have such a reliable roofing company in town!

Before and After pictures of my roof from my security camera are attached. I have a simple modest home but I am so proud of my new roof! If you're looking for a reliable, family-owned roofing company, Forster construction is the real deal! From the moment I reached out, Kyle and Andie went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and informed every step of the way. They were always available to meet at my house to address concerns, drop off and pick up samples, and provide exceptional customer service. Their roofing crew has over a decade of experience. They got my roof done in less than a day while my neighbor’s roofs of similar size took two days! They clean up all of the nails and material. I have not yet found one nail even months later! It’s clear they take pride in their work and treat every project like it’s their own. On top of that, they have a list of trusted, high-quality contractors they refer for any other services you may need. I got quotes from five other companies, big and small, and Kyle and Andie’s quote and service absolutely blew the competition out of the water. They worked with me to give me the best price possible without compromising quality. I can't recommend them enough – if you need roofing work done, they’re the team to trust! They treat you like family not just a customer.

Working with Kyle and his team was a great experience from start to finish! Not only did they do an excellent job on the roof but Kyle made himself available for all sorts of questions I had and also recommended some great people for the other home repairs we needed. If I ever need roof repair again, I’m giving them a call.

Frequently asked

Is Forster Construction licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue state roofing licenses, so no Texas roofer has one. This listing carries the voluntary RCAT Licensed status. The company also works in New Mexico, which does license contractors at the state level. Always verify insurance with a current certificate.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed contractor?
RCAT membership just means belonging to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is separately earned through testing and vetting. This listing shows the Licensed status; ask the company for details if the distinction matters to you.
How long has Forster Construction been in business?
The company was established in 1985 by Glenn Forster, and BBB records confirm a business start date of 1985 with BBB accreditation held since 2001. It remains family-owned about 40 years later.
Does Forster Construction handle hail damage?
Yes. Lubbock and the South Plains see frequent large hail, and the company performs roof inspections, leak investigation, and repair and replacement work after storms. Have damage inspected and documented promptly to support an insurance claim.
Are impact-resistant shingles worth it in Lubbock?
Often yes. West Texas hail makes Class 4 (UL 2218) shingles and stone-coated metal popular choices, and many Texas insurers discount premiums for impact-rated roofs. Ask whether a cosmetic damage exclusion comes with the discount before you accept it.
What roofing does Forster offer for homes?
Residential options include asphalt shingle roofing, architectural metal, and stone-coated metal systems, plus repair, inspections, and leak investigation.
What commercial roofing does Forster install?
Commercial work covers flat and sloped roofs, including TPO single-ply membrane, built-up roofing, metal roofs, and metal roof coatings for extending the life of existing roofs.
What areas does Forster Construction serve?
From Lubbock it serves the South Plains and West Texas, including Amarillo, Plainview, Levelland, Brownfield, Big Spring, Midland, Odessa, Abilene, San Angelo, and Sweetwater, plus Clovis, Hobbs, and Lovington in eastern New Mexico.
Do I need a permit to reroof a house in Lubbock?
Texas has no statewide building code, so rules are set city by city. The City of Lubbock has its own permitting requirements for roofing work; confirm with the city's building department or have your contractor handle the permit.
What should I ask a West Texas roofer before signing?
Ask for proof of insurance, a local physical address and phone, references from nearby jobs, written workmanship warranty terms, and the specific product being installed. After big hailstorms, prefer an established local company over out-of-town storm chasers.
