About

DAR Roofing General Contractors is a Dallas area roofing and exterior contractor working out of 2727 Lyndon B Johnson Freeway, Suite 785, in Farmers Branch, inside Dallas County. BBB records show the LLC was started and incorporated on 26 July 2023, with Sanad Alfar and Oscar Blanquin listed as managing members. The company's own site describes the team as having over a decade of combined experience, which refers to the people rather than the age of the business. It is a full exterior contractor rather than a roofing only shop. The services page lists roof restoration and replacement, gutter installation and repair, fencing, siding, garage doors, HVAC, interior and exterior painting, and window replacement. Storm damage inspection and insurance claim assistance are the marketing spine of the site, which describes the firm as a HAAG certified roofing expert. Haag certification is a private forensic roof inspection credential and here it is stated by the company. The site displays Owens Corning, Decra stone coated metal and Sherwin Williams brand marks as product partners. We could not confirm an Owens Corning contractor network level (Preferred or Platinum Preferred) in Owens Corning's own contractor directory, which renders its listings through scripts that a plain page fetch cannot read, so treat the Owens Corning mark as a product brand shown by the company rather than a confirmed network status. DAR is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, accredited on 5 February 2024, and appears in the RCAT directory. The site also claims North Texas Roofing Contractors Association and National Roofing Contractors Association membership. Texas has no state roofing licence, so for a company this young the useful checks are the certificate of insurance, the BBB complaint history, and a written scope before any claim paperwork is signed.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Not only did they do an incredible job on the roof, but they also gave me the best price compared to the other companies I spoke with. The quality of work exceeded my expectations, and the cleanup was spotless when everything was finished. The roof looks great! Highly recommend Oscar, Sanad, and the entire team to anyone needing roofing work done.

Frequently asked

Is DAR Roofing licensed by the state of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor licence, so nobody in Texas roofing holds one. What is checkable is insurance and voluntary credentials. DAR is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, accredited in February 2024, and is listed in the RCAT directory. Ask for a current certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance before work starts.
What does RCAT Member mean, and is it the same as being licensed?
No. RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Plain Member status means the company pays dues and belongs to the association. RCAT separately awards a Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) that requires testing and continuing education. DAR is listed as a Member, which is the dues based status.
How long has DAR been in business?
BBB shows the LLC was started and incorporated on 26 July 2023, so roughly three years. The site's reference to over a decade of experience describes the combined background of the people on the team, not the age of the company. For a young firm, ask to see recent local jobs and speak to those homeowners directly.
Which phone number is correct?
Every page of the company's own website lists (315) 836-4542. BBB lists two different Dallas numbers for the same business, (214) 533-8811 and (214) 274-2145. The 315 area code is upstate New York, so it may be a call tracking or routing number. Any of the three should reach the company, but confirm the number on the contract matches the number you can reach a person on.
What is Haag certification and why does it come up on hail claims?
Haag Engineering runs a private training and certification program for forensic roof damage inspection. A Haag certified inspector has been trained in the same damage assessment methodology many insurance adjusters use, which can make a claim report harder to dismiss. It is a private credential, not a government licence, and DAR states it holds it. Ask to see the current certificate.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in the DFW area?
The Dallas Fort Worth metroplex sits in the middle of Texas hail alley, and Class 4 (UL 2218) impact rated shingles are the usual upgrade. They cost more per square but many Texas insurers give a windstorm and hail premium discount for them. Call your carrier first and ask what percentage discount applies, because that number is what decides whether the upgrade pays for itself.
Do I need a permit for a reroof in Farmers Branch or Dallas?
Yes in most cases, and the rules are set locally because Texas has no statewide building code enforcement. Farmers Branch, Dallas, Plano and Fort Worth each run their own reroof permit and inspection process. Get it in writing that the contractor pulls the permit in its own name and that the final inspection is scheduled.
Can DAR pay or absorb my insurance deductible?
No, and no Texas roofer legally can. Texas law makes it an offence for a contractor to pay, rebate, waive or absorb an insurance deductible, or to advertise that it will. If any contractor offers this, walk away. It also puts your own claim at risk.
What does the Owens Corning branding on the site mean?
It indicates the company sells and installs Owens Corning products. It does not by itself mean the company holds an Owens Corning contractor network status such as Preferred or Platinum Preferred, which are separate tiers that unlock enhanced manufacturer warranties. We could not confirm a network level in Owens Corning's own contractor directory. If an enhanced manufacturer warranty matters to you, ask which network the company belongs to and get the warranty registration in writing.
What should I ask before signing?
A line item scope covering decking replacement, underlayment, drip edge, flashing, pipe boots and ventilation. The exact shingle or metal product and colour. The workmanship warranty length and who honours it. Who pulls the permit. A milestone payment schedule rather than a large upfront deposit. And a certificate of insurance sent directly from the agent, naming DAR Roofing General Contractors, covering both general liability and workers compensation.
