About

Lone Star Roofing & General Contractors is a Dallas based roofing and general contracting company that works across the DFW Metroplex from an office on Greenville Avenue. Its BBB profile lists the business as started and incorporated on February 20, 2023, and the company appears in the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas contractor directory as a Dallas contractor member. The website positions the company around roof restoration, with free inspections, storm restoration, roof repair, full replacement, commercial roofing and insurance claim management. Beyond roofing the company sells solar panel installation along with solar removal and reinstallation around a roof replacement, seamless gutters with guards and downspouts, fencing, and interior work such as drywall and painting. Its published coverage list names Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Addison, Denton, Lewisville, Irving, Midlothian, Frisco, Red Oak, Waxahachie, Ennis, Mansfield, Arlington, Rockwall and The Colony, and its FAQ page states that the company covers all of Texas. On its own pages the company states it carries a $2 million general liability policy, and its FAQ lists a two year warranty on the roof and a one year warranty on all other trades. The BBB shows an A+ rating with accreditation dated April 10, 2023. A Master Shingle Applicator badge is also displayed on the site. That badge is stated by the company and we were not able to confirm it in any manufacturer's own contractor directory, so homeowners should ask to see the certificate. The site likewise names no shingle brand or material line, which is worth asking about directly given how much of the DFW roofing conversation is about hail rated products.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I had a great experience with Lone Star Roofing & General Contractors. They did an excellent job from start to finish, and the entire process was smooth and professional. Brandon was especially great to work with, very responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful every step of the way. He went above and beyond by working directly with my insurance company to ensure all the hail damage was properly identified and covered, which made a big difference. The quality of the work was top-notch, and everything was completed efficiently and on schedule. I would highly recommend Lone Star Roofing to anyone needing roofing or storm damage repairs.

I can’t say enough great things about Brandon Wood and Lonestar Roofing. They handled both my home and business roofing projects, and the level of professionalism from start to finish was outstanding. Brandon and his team went above and beyond in every aspect—communication, attention to detail, and overall execution. They took the time to walk me through the process, answered every question, and made sure everything was done right the first time. The quality of work exceeded my expectations, and the finished roofs look incredible. It’s rare to find a company that truly delivers on what they promise, but Lonestar Roofing did exactly that. If you’re looking for a roofing company you can trust that stands behind their work and genuinely cares about their customers, I highly recommend Brandon Wood and Lonestar Roofing.

Mario is super persistent and will push his hardest to get the insurance company to cover the roof. He does a very thorough inspection, walking the roof and then using a drone to document all the damages, and then showing up when the insurance adjuster visits so he can point out all the damages. He’s a go getter with indepth knowledge about roofing and I highly reccommend him, as do my neighbors

Frequently asked

Does Texas license roofing contractors?
No. Texas has no state roofing license, so no state agency issues or revokes a roofer's credential. That puts the burden on the homeowner. Check general liability and workers compensation coverage, verify the business entity, look at association standing such as RCAT, and ask for local references you can actually call.
This company is shown as an RCAT Member. What does that mean?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Member means the company pays dues and is listed in RCAT's contractor directory. That is not the same thing as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires testing and continuing education. A directory listing as a Member does not by itself mean the company holds that credential.
Is the company insured?
Its own About and FAQ pages state a $2 million general liability policy. Do not take any contractor's website at face value on this. Ask for a certificate of insurance emailed to you directly by the insurance agent, listing both general liability and workers compensation, and confirm the dates cover your install window.
What warranty comes with the work?
The company's FAQ page states a two year warranty on the roof and a one year warranty on all other trades. That is a workmanship warranty from the contractor. The manufacturer's material warranty on the shingles themselves is a separate document, and extended manufacturer warranties normally require a certified installer. Get both in writing before you sign.
How much hail damage does it take before insurance pays for a full roof?
There is no single legal threshold, and every carrier is different. As a common working benchmark the company's own FAQ describes roughly six to eight visible hail strikes in a ten foot by ten foot test square on two different slopes. Your adjuster makes the call, so having your contractor present at the inspection helps make sure nothing is missed.
Can a roofer pay or waive my insurance deductible?
No. Texas House Bill 2102, effective November 1, 2019, makes it illegal for a contractor to pay, waive, rebate or absorb an insurance deductible. Any company offering to do it is breaking the law, and the cost has to come out of the job somewhere. The company's own FAQ says the same thing.
How long do I have to file a hail claim in the DFW area?
Your policy sets the deadline and most require prompt notice, so do not sit on it. The company's FAQ suggests filing within six months to a year of the storm. The longer you wait the easier it is for an adjuster to argue the damage is old wear rather than a specific covered hail event, so get an inspection soon after a storm even if you do not file right away.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Dallas?
North and Central Texas sit in the part of the state that takes the most damaging hail, so Class 4 shingles, which carry the highest UL 2218 impact rating, are a common upgrade here. Many Texas carriers offer a premium discount for them. This company's website does not name the shingle brands or product lines it installs, so ask specifically which Class 4 products it can supply and get the model in the contract.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in the Dallas area?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement for residential reroofs, so permitting and inspection rules are set city by city. Requirements in Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Arlington and the smaller Metroplex cities are not identical. Ask in writing who pulls the permit, and confirm the requirement with the building department for your specific address.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent by the agent, a written scope listing the exact shingle, underlayment, ventilation and flashing being installed, the workmanship warranty term in writing, who supervises the crew on site, confirmation that your deductible is your responsibility, lien waivers from suppliers and subcontractors at completion, and a local address you can visit. Never sign a blank or open ended insurance assignment.
