About

Bluebonnet Roof Co. is the public brand behind this listing, and the website bluebonnetroofing.com is confirmed as the same company: the BBB profile for Bluebonnet Roof Co. (filed under the legal name Bluebonnet Custom Roofing LLC) lists that domain, the phone number 512-580-9063 and the address 8305 State Highway 71, Suite 230, Austin, all of which match the site. BBB records give a business start and incorporation date of April 2017. Founder Scott Mincey worked as an insurance adjuster before starting the company, which is the background it leans on when clients are working through a storm claim. The company is family owned and fully insured, and works on both residential and commercial property. Services run from roof repair, replacement and new installation through roof restoration, standing seam metal, tile and slate, flat roof coatings, and TPO, PVC and EPDM membrane systems, plus gutters, skylight repair and replacement, soffit and fascia work, roof inspections and emergency roofing. It states that it works with materials from Owens Corning, GAF and CertainTeed. Coverage is Austin and the surrounding Central Texas communities including Bee Cave, Cedar Park, Dripping Springs, Lakeway, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Tarrytown and Westlake. It is BBB accredited with an A+ rating, accredited since June 2025. The review picture is the weakest part of this file and should be read carefully. The company says on its site that it has earned a 5 star rating on Google Maps, but it never states how many reviews sit behind that, and we could not read the Google listing directly. No independent source we checked gave a Google review count for this company. The 5.0 supplied to us is therefore unquantified and may rest on a small number of reviews, so it should not be presented as evidence of a deep track record. One further caution: several unrelated Austin businesses trade under similar Bluebonnet roofing names, so match the phone number and address before assuming any review profile belongs to this company.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Scott and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with. Fantastic communication throughout the whole process and his experience with insurance companies was invaluable. He and his team worked around an insane schedule - mostly due to our insane weather in Texas, but also because we had solar panels that had to come down. Scott also worked directly with the Solar company to help coordinate everything. They showed up: on time - every time and finished the entire job in about 6-7 hours. All his crew were really friendly and did a great cleanup afterwards. I would *highly* recommend if you are in the market for a new roof in Austin - go with Bluebonnet Roof Co..

I had four different companies come out to look at our roof for a quote, and Scott was by far the best, most honest, and straightforward. We ended up going with Bluebonnet for the repair on our home in Falconhead, and I’m glad we did. Scott goes above and beyond to make sure everything is done right and doesn’t cut corners. It’s rare to find someone you can fully trust with your home, but Scott is definitely that guy. Highly recommend this guy

We had a great experience with Bluebonnet. Scott was trustworthy, responsive, and delivered high-quality work. He and his team addressed our issue quickly and made the entire process seamless. Highly recommend. Pictures attached.

Scott and his team inspected a shingle issue we’ve had for a while, seen in the attached photo. They gave us a detailed explanation of what was happening with our roof and what to look out for in the future. Repairs were fast and clean. We would call Bluebonnet Roof Co. again.

I’ve had a great experience with Bluebonnet Roof Co. During a recent rain, I noticed a leak coming from my furnace vent on the roof down to the closet where the HVAC system is located. I was a little panicked and wanting to find someone who could come sooner than later. I searched companies online for someone close to me AND good reviews and found Bluebonnet Roof. I called around 3pm on a Friday (yikes!) and Scott showed up about 20 minutes later. He was not able to get on the roof right away for safety reasons due to the wet conditions and our old roof being worn down and very slick, but Scott came back the next morning with a drone and was able to take photos to identify the leak source. We were given a quick and reasonable quote and schedule the repair a couple of days later. There was no pressure for anything more. Scott is so nice and easy to talk to. Just good vibes! No pressure or pushy sales. We will be getting a quote from Scott for roof replacement as well. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend Scott and Bluebonnet Roofing.

Frequently asked

Is a roofing contractor licensed by the State of Texas?
No. Texas issues no state roofing licence, so any claim to be state licensed for roofing is wrong. What you can verify is current general liability and workers compensation insurance, a real physical address in Central Texas, voluntary credentials such as RCAT status, and any registration your city requires. Ask for insurance certificates and confirm them with the insurer directly.
What does RCAT Member mean on this listing?
It means the company is a dues paying member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. That is not the same as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which requires meeting qualification and standing requirements. Membership shows involvement in the trade body. It is not a licence and should not be read as one.
What actually damages roofs in Austin and Travis County?
Hail and straight line wind from spring and early summer storms do the sudden damage, and Central Texas sits at the southern edge of the state's worst hail belt. The slower problem is heat: long runs of high UV and high attic temperatures age shingles, dry out sealants and can shorten the real life of a roof well below its nominal warranty. Coastal windstorm rules such as WPI-8 and TWIA do not apply in Travis County.
Are impact resistant Class 4 shingles worth the extra cost here?
Often yes in Central Texas. Class 4 is the top UL 2218 impact rating and many Texas insurers give a premium discount for it. Ask your own carrier what discount they apply and for how long, then compare that against the upgrade cost over the expected life of the roof.
Do I need a permit to reroof a house in Austin?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so the rules are local. The City of Austin does require permits for roof work in defined circumstances, and the surrounding cities such as Round Rock, Cedar Park and Pflugerville each set their own. Check with your own jurisdiction and make the contract say who pulls the permit and who pays for it.
The founder used to be an insurance adjuster. Does that help my claim?
It can help you understand the process, because someone who has assessed damage for a carrier knows how scopes and estimates are written. It does not mean a claim will be approved. Be aware that in Texas a roofer cannot act as your public adjuster on the same job, and no contractor may pay, waive or absorb your deductible under HB 2102.
What manufacturer certifications does the company hold?
The site says it partners with Owens Corning, GAF and CertainTeed for materials and refers generally to certifications from leading industry organisations, but it does not name a specific certification tier, and we did not find this company on a manufacturer's own contractor directory at a named level. Treat the manufacturer names as products used rather than as verified certifications, and ask directly which manufacturer programme, if any, the company is enrolled in.
Does the company do flat and commercial roofs as well as houses?
Yes. Alongside residential shingle, metal, tile and slate work it lists commercial roofing, flat roof coatings and single ply membrane systems including TPO, PVC and EPDM, plus TPO roof repairs.
How much weight should I put on the 5 star rating?
Less than you might think, until you see the count. The company states it has a 5 star rating on Google Maps but does not publish the number of reviews behind it, and we could not read the Google listing to confirm it. A perfect score from a small number of reviews is a much weaker signal than the same score from hundreds. Open the Google listing yourself, check how many reviews there are and how recent they are, and read a spread of them.
How do I make sure I am looking at the right Bluebonnet?
This is a real risk in Austin, where several unrelated roofing businesses use similar Bluebonnet names and domains. Match on the specifics: the phone number 512-580-9063, the address at 8305 State Highway 71, Suite 230, and the domain bluebonnetroofing.com. If a review page, quote or advert does not line up with all three, it is probably a different company.
