Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0250 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I only give 1 star because 0 is not an option. Ahler's destroyed our church by leaving an unsecured roof in place for several days, even though tremendous storms were forecasted. As a result, our sanctuary was destroyed, forcing us to strip everything to the studs, while also pushing us to meeting in a temporary location. To make matters worse, Ahlers, despite being paid in full for the work, has hired a lawyer and is refusing to participate in making this right. We've been left holding the bag for hundreds of thousands of dollars on top of the cost for the new roof. Avoid Ahlers at all costs.

I recently had a roof estimate done by Ahlers Roofing and Construction, and I am thoroughly impressed with the professionalism and transparency they provided. From the start, Juanita Eguia, was punctual and took the time to thoroughly inspect my roof, pointing out areas of concern I hadn’t noticed before. What stood out most was their honesty and willingness to answer all of my questions without pushing me into a decision. Juanita provided a clear breakdown of costs and gave me options for different materials, allowing me to make an informed choice based on my budget. She even showed up with short notice the day the insurance adjuster arrived. Overall, I felt very comfortable with their process and would definitely consider hiring Ahlers Roofing and Construction for the job. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of roof repairs or replacements!

We had a great experience working with Michael Hudgins and Ahler's Roofing and Construction. He was super professional and easy to talk to. Communication was solid the whole time and he always made sure I knew what was going on. There were a few tricky parts during the job but Michael handled them quickly and came up with smart solutions without any drama. The completed work looks great and he kept things on budget. This is our second roofing job completed by Ahler's and I definitely recommend Michael and Ahler's Roofing to anyone needing roof and construction work done right.

Frequently asked

Does Texas require a state license for roofing contractors?
No. Texas has no statewide roofing license. Homeowners should instead confirm a contractor's liability and workers compensation insurance, and check its standing with an industry association such as RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas).
What does it mean that Ahlers Roofing and Construction is RCAT Licensed rather than just an RCAT Member?
RCAT offers a basic paid Membership open to any contractor, and a separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL) that requires meeting RCAT's additional standards. Ahlers holds the Licensed designation under founder Danny Ahlers, which homeowners can verify directly on the RCAT website.
Is Haltom City prone to hail damage?
Yes. Haltom City sits in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, part of what roofers call Hail Alley, where large hail is a leading cause of roof damage and insurance claims in North Texas.
What is a Class 4 impact-resistant shingle, and should I ask for one?
Class 4 shingles are laboratory rated to withstand hail impact better than standard shingles, and some Texas insurers offer a premium discount for installing them. It is worth asking a contractor whether Class 4 shingles are available for your roof.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Haltom City?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is handled city by city. Homeowners should confirm with the City of Haltom City's building department, or ask their contractor to confirm, whether a permit is required before work begins.
What should I ask a roofing contractor before signing a contract?
Ask to see proof of current general liability and workers compensation insurance, get the scope of work and materials in writing, confirm who pulls any required permit, and get copies of the manufacturer and workmanship warranties before signing.
Does homeowners insurance cover hail or storm damage to my roof?
Most Texas homeowners policies cover sudden hail and wind damage, though coverage and deductibles vary by policy. Homeowners should review their own policy and can ask a roofing contractor to help document damage for a claim.
Is Ahlers Roofing and Construction a BBB accredited business?
BBB records show Ahlers carries an A+ BBB rating but is not currently listed as a BBB accredited business. Homeowners can review the full BBB file directly before deciding.
What other services does Ahlers Roofing and Construction offer besides roofing?
In addition to residential and commercial roofing, the company offers fencing, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, general home repair and restoration, painting, and flooring.
How can I confirm a roofing company's insurance before hiring them?
A reputable contractor will provide a certificate of insurance directly, or through their insurance agent, upon request. Homeowners should confirm the certificate is current and lists appropriate liability coverage before work begins.
