About

SONS Roofing is a Tarrant County roofing contractor working out of 4013 Clay Ave, Suite D in Haltom City, just northeast of downtown Fort Worth. The company handles residential, commercial and industrial roofing across the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, covering roof inspections, repair, replacement, roof coatings, ongoing maintenance and storm damage work. Its commercial side names multi family housing, HOA communities, chain retail, office buildings, churches, self storage and industrial property as regular property types. BBB records show the business started and was incorporated on 19 February 2021, and it has been a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating since 23 March 2023. The company's own marketing refers to over 30 years of roofing experience, which describes the background of the team rather than the age of the LLC. BBB lists Michael Reichert as CEO and Douglas Reichert as CFO. SONS Roofing appears in GAF's own certified residential contractor directory for Haltom City and in IKO's contractor finder, and the company states on its site that it is certified with all of the major manufacturers for higher level warranty coverage. The company publishes hours of Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm, and offers free estimates and no commitment inspections. Insurance claim support is the theme customers raise most often in its published testimonials, which fits a North Texas market where most roof replacements start with a hail claim. Tarrant County sits in the heart of Hail Alley, so Class 4 impact resistant shingles and hail claim documentation are the practical questions to raise on a first appointment.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0589 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Son’s Roofing is, without a doubt, the best roofing company in the DFW metroplex! Mr. Ruben Tobias has been working with me for nearly a year, helping navigate a very challenging insurance situation. While nearly every roof in my neighborhood was replaced due to hail damage, my insurance company initially refused to approve a full replacement. Ruben was the ultimate professional—he coordinated directly with my insurance company, their agents, and assessors, managing every detail with patience and persistence. Thanks to his “get it done” attitude and commitment to doing what’s right, we were ultimately able to secure approval for a full roof replacement, including vents, gutters, and pipes, through a third-party assessor. Son’s Roofing completed all the repairs above and beyond my expectations. The Roof is of great quality and is beautiful. A huge thank-you to Ruben and Michael for a job exceptionally well done. You guys are awesome!

Ruben Tobias and the rest of the fantastic team from Sons Roofing took great care of us! They worked with us and our insurance company over a course of almost two years (and multiple hail storms) to get our full roof replaced. The work was completed promptly, our landscape protected and they did a superb job in clean up. The results look great! Thank you, Sons Roofing, for your perseverance and professionalism!

Frequently asked

Where is SONS Roofing actually located?
The company operates from 4013 Clay Ave, Suite D, Haltom City, Texas 76117, in Tarrant County. Some records show a 76161 ZIP, which is a Fort Worth post office box ZIP rather than a street ZIP, and BBB files the same street address under a Fort Worth mailing city. The physical location is Haltom City.
What does SONS stand for?
The company does not publish an acronym. Nothing on its own website, its BBB profile or its RCAT record spells SONS out as initials, and its About page does not define it. Treat any acronym you see quoted elsewhere as unverified.
Does Texas license roofing contractors?
No. Texas has no state roofing licence. A roofer in Haltom City cannot be state licensed for roofing, so the real checks are a current certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance sent directly by the insurer, standing with a trade body such as RCAT, and any registration the city requires.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Plain membership means the company pays dues and signs up to the code of ethics. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is separately earned by a named individual through testing and documented experience. SONS Roofing is carried at the Licensed level, so ask which named individual holds the credential and at what grade.
How long has SONS Roofing been in business?
BBB shows the business started and was incorporated on 19 February 2021. The company's marketing refers to over 30 years of roofing experience, which describes the team's background rather than the age of the LLC. Both facts can be true at once, so ask for references on roofs completed by this company.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Tarrant County?
Tarrant County is one of the most hail exposed counties in the country. Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 steel ball impact test, and most Texas carriers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof. Ask your insurer what the credit is worth per year, then ask the contractor to write the exact shingle line and impact rating into the contract.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Haltom City?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permits are handled city by city. Haltom City, Fort Worth, North Richland Hills and Watauga each run their own reroof permit and inspection process. Confirm in writing that the contractor pulls the permit and books the final inspection.
How does a hail damage insurance claim work in North Texas?
You report the date of loss to your carrier, an adjuster inspects, and the carrier issues a scope with an actual cash value payment first. Recoverable depreciation is released after the work is completed and invoiced. You pay your deductible. Texas law prohibits a contractor from paying, waiving or rebating your deductible, so walk away from anyone who offers it.
What roofing materials does SONS Roofing install?
The company's public pages describe services rather than product lines, and no specific shingle, metal or membrane brands are named on its site. It does list roof coatings, which are a flat and low slope commercial system. Its GAF and IKO directory listings indicate asphalt shingle work. Ask for the exact product line and warranty tier in writing before you sign.
How do I verify a roofer's manufacturer certification?
Do not take a logo on a website as proof. Search the manufacturer's own contractor locator by company name and city. GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed and IKO each publish a searchable directory, and a company that holds the credential will appear there with a profile page. SONS Roofing appears in both the GAF residential contractor directory and the IKO contractor finder for Haltom City.
