Highlights
CertainTeed ShingleMaster credential verified on CertainTeed's own contractor directory, held since 2010.
Long trading history in San Antonio, with the BBB recording the business as starting in 1997.
Covers both steep slope shingle and tile work and flat roof PVC, TPO and EPDM membrane systems, so apartment and commercial low slope roofs are in scope.
Offers general contracting and remodeling alongside roofing, which helps when hail or storm damage extends past the roof.
A+ rating on file with the Better Business Bureau.
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Professional, humble, and personable.
After consulting with an insurance adjuster, my wife and I found ourselves looking at the possibility of having to replace most of our roof. After Wayne arrived, he assured me that the impact was minimal and that he would get to fixing it right away.
Wayne was courteous, friendly, caring, honest, and exceptional at the work he provided.
Thank you to Wayne and Sharrich Scott and the rest of Roof Doctor GC Services for the humility, integrity, and care you put into your service.

Roof Doctors is an outstanding company! I told Sherrich that my 75 year old neighbor was going to climb on him roof and sweep it clean. She had her roof team there within two days and clean Mr. Lipscombs roof for no charge. Wow. That is compassion!

My landlord used the Roof Doctor to replace the roof on my warehouse in May. The team removed the old roof, and did not make preparations for the rain and hail storms that night. When we came in to 4" of water in our warehouse and over 30k in damages, one of the guys said... "we didn't think it would rain." I've been trying to resolve this for months and can't get a callback. Would not recommend the risk of using this company.

They installed our new roof and repaired our deck from a hail storm. They worked with our insurance company and was able to get additional damages approved. Great company to do business with.

Frequently asked
Is Roof Doctor licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor licence, so no roofer in San Antonio holds one. What you can check instead is proof of general liability and workers compensation insurance, the company's status with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), and any registration your city requires. Roof Doctor is recorded in our data as an RCAT Member.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
They are two separate things. RCAT Member means the company pays dues and belongs to the association. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and continuing education. Roof Doctor is listed as an RCAT Member, which is an association membership rather than the earned credential.
What manufacturer certification has actually been verified for Roof Doctor?
CertainTeed's own contractor directory lists Roof Doctor of San Antonio as a credentialed ShingleMaster, credentialed since 2010, with matching phone number and website. The company also advertises Owens Corning Preferred Contractor status on its website, but we did not find a matching listing in Owens Corning's own contractor directory, so treat that as stated by the company until you see the certificate.
Does Roof Doctor work on flat and low slope roofs?
Yes. Its product pages describe PVC and TPO heat welded membrane and EPDM rubber for flat and low slope roofs, and separate guidance for low slope (2:12 to 4:12), conventional to steep slope (above 4:12), and flat (a quarter in 12 to 2:12). That makes it relevant for apartment blocks and commercial buildings as well as houses.
How does hail affect a San Antonio roof claim?
Bexar County sits at the southern end of Texas hail country and takes damaging storms most years. Insurers usually want a dated inspection with photographs of impact marks on shingles, soft metals and vents. Get an independent roof inspection before you sign anything, and never let a contractor file or negotiate the claim on your behalf without your own adjuster involved.
Are impact resistant Class 4 shingles worth it in San Antonio?
Often yes. Class 4 impact rated shingles are tested to resist a two inch steel ball drop, and most Texas carriers offer a premium discount for them. Ask your insurer what the discount is worth over ten years and compare it against the material upcharge before deciding.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in San Antonio?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting is set city by city. The City of San Antonio Development Services Department generally requires a permit for roof replacement, and the contractor normally pulls it. Ask in writing who is pulling the permit and confirm the permit number before work starts.
What should I ask Roof Doctor before signing a contract?
Ask for current certificates of insurance sent directly from the insurer, a written scope that names the shingle line and underlayment, who is pulling the permit, the workmanship warranty length and what voids it, the payment schedule tied to milestones rather than a large deposit, and whether the crew is employed or subcontracted.
Does Roof Doctor offer maintenance rather than just replacement?
Yes. Roof maintenance and roof inspections are listed as standalone services alongside repair and replacement, which suits apartment and commercial owners who want to extend the life of an existing roof rather than replace it.
How do I reach Roof Doctor?
