About

Redbird Roofing is a Plano based residential and commercial roofing contractor serving the Dallas Fort Worth area. Owner Wes Schulte founded the company in 2014, and its BBB profile lists a business start date of 4 December 2014. The office is at 1506 Capital Ave, Suite 150 in Plano, in Collin County, and the company describes itself as a fully insured, bondable Texas corporation. The company frames its work around educating homeowners on what happens before, during and after an installation. Alongside roof inspections, repairs and replacements it handles storm damage assessment, yearly roof maintenance, sealing and caulking of chimney, skylight and rake wall flashings, and plumbing boot replacement with lead jacks. Redbird also takes on related exterior and interior trades including gutters, fencing, painting, window repair and interior remodeling. Redbird publishes a wide North Texas service area covering Plano, Allen, McKinney, Prosper, Wylie, Richardson, Dallas, Denton, Lewisville and many surrounding Collin, Denton and Dallas County communities. It is BBB accredited with an A+ rating (accredited since 15 February 2016), lists NRCA membership, is an RCAT member and appears in the Dallas Builders Association roofing directory. North Texas sits in the state's hail belt, so storm and hail claim work is a large part of what roofers in this market do.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I have been around the block a few times as far as roofing companies, and I have to say by far this company has not only made the process bearable, the quality of their work is impeccable! They even clean up after themselves perfectly. Our rep, Adam, went beyond and above his duties as he saw this process through. I assure you, you will not be disappointed by selecting Redbird Roofing for your roofing, gutters, and even garage door needs. They are the total package!

Redbird Roofing recently helped my clients work with their insurance carrier to have a new roof installed. As a Realtor, having a trusted roofing partner is invaluable! Redbird Roofing is professional, knowledgeable and above all honest. Working with Jay was a pleasure. He is super responsive, proactive and on top of things. The workers were punctual, worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up thoroughly before leaving. I highly recommend Redbird Roofing to anyone in need of roof repairs or replacement.

Cannot express enough how great Redbird roofing is! during the storms we had last May/June, I had to leave town on a business trip. Roof was leaking badly. They came over at 6pm. set up buckets and tarped what they could. they helped me work through insurance and when insurance denied my claim, they offered great affordable solutions. They replaced my roof in September of 2024. Could not be happier with their speed, professionalism and quality of work. Shortly after, we extended our patio and they came back, roofed it, matched perfectly! Any questions i had where addressed almost immediately. I would recommend Redbird roofing to everyone i know. There is a lot of companies out there, Redbird is the only one i will use! You will not be disappointed!

Red Bird was excellent. They took care of everything and dealt with the insurance for us. They were fast, professional and cleaned up afterwards as if they weren't even there. I highly recommend them and I'll use them again!

Redbird Roofing/Adam House did not disappoint. Came out and had a report to me with photos a few days later. I filed a claim and Adam met with my adjuster. Within a few weeks I had a beautiful new roof and gutters. Communication is a big deal to me and Adam did just that. Professional and alway available when I had questions. I highly recommend.

Frequently asked

Is Redbird Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofer is. Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so there is no state licence number to check for any Texas roofing company. What you can check instead is insurance, association standing and any city or county registration. Redbird Roofing describes itself as a fully insured, bondable Texas corporation and is listed as an RCAT member.
What does it mean that Redbird Roofing is an RCAT member?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Plain membership means the company pays dues and takes part in the association. It is not the same as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires testing and continuing education. Redbird is listed at the member level.
Which areas does Redbird Roofing cover?
The company's website lists a broad North Texas footprint, including Plano, Allen, McKinney, Prosper, Wylie, Sachse, Murphy, Richardson, Garland, Mesquite, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Irving, The Colony, Little Elm, Lewisville, Flower Mound and Denton. Confirm your specific address when you call.
Should I ask for impact resistant Class 4 shingles in Plano?
It is worth asking. Collin County sits in North Texas hail country, and Class 4 impact rated shingles are tested to resist hail strikes better than standard shingles. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a verified Class 4 roof, so ask your contractor for the product's UL 2218 Class 4 rating documentation and then ask your insurer what discount applies.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Plano?
Texas has no statewide building code for this, so permitting is set city by city. The City of Plano requires permits for reroofing work, and neighbouring cities such as Allen, McKinney and Richardson have their own rules and fees. A reputable roofer pulls the permit in its own name and schedules the inspection. Ask who is pulling it before work starts.
How do I verify a roofer's insurance before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the agent or carrier, not a copy from the contractor. It should show general liability and, if the company has employees, workers compensation. Texas does not require private employers to carry workers compensation, so confirm what cover actually exists and that the policy dates cover your job.
Does Redbird Roofing handle hail and storm insurance claims?
The company lists storm damage assessment and roof inspections among its services. On any Texas hail claim, the homeowner files with the insurer and the roofer documents the damage and prices the repair. A contractor cannot negotiate or adjust the claim on your behalf unless licensed as a public adjuster, and in Texas a roofing contractor may not act as a public adjuster on a property it is contracted to repair.
What should I check before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Get the full scope in writing (tear off versus overlay, decking replacement rate, underlayment, ventilation, flashing, ridge and drip edge), the manufacturer and product line, the workmanship warranty length and who honours it, the payment schedule, and the permit responsibility. Never pay the full amount up front and be cautious of any deal contingent on your insurance payout.
How long does a roof replacement usually take?
A typical single family asphalt shingle replacement in the Dallas Fort Worth area is a one to two day job in good weather, with larger, steeper or multi layer roofs taking longer. Material delivery, permit timing and post storm demand can all stretch the schedule, so ask for a realistic date range rather than a promise.
Do I need to worry about WPI-8 windstorm certification in Plano?
No. WPI-8 certificates and TWIA windstorm inspection requirements apply to the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties, not to Collin County or the wider Dallas Fort Worth area. Inland North Texas roofs are driven by hail and wind resistance and by local city code, not by coastal windstorm certification.
