Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Such a great experience with Tom and Presidio! Living room ceiling started dripping water when the ice from the last freeze started to thaw. It was strange because we had a previous roofing company do repairs 2 years prior. Called Presidio, got a human being on the line immediately and they put us on the schedule to have someone out to take a look in 2 days. Tom calls the next day offering to come take a look so we didn't have to wait. Sees where the previous roofing company did a sub-par job which just exacerbated the leak issue. Tom was thorough and straightforward and showed us everything that needed repairs. Got a quote quickly and was able to schedule the repair quickly as well. They did a fabulous job, communicating clearly with us the whole way. Hands down will stick with Presidio for any other future roofing needs and highly recommend them.

We had an incredible experience with Presidio Roofing Co. I called to request an inspection, and Tom called me back personally, answered questions and ended up visiting our home that same day. While working out repair solutions, he was kind enough to tarp the affected areas to keep them dry ahead of spring storms- all at no cost. I look forward to working more with their crew and would highly recommend to those needing work done!

I called Presidio Roofing to request a roof inspection, and I was very impressed with their service. Tom contacted me the same day, responded quickly, and came out to my house promptly to address my concerns. He clearly explained what had happened with my roof and was able to fix the issue right away. I truly appreciate the fast response, professionalism, and quality service.

Impeccable workmanship, character, and punctuality. Tom and his crew are going to be very difficult to outperform. From the very beginning not only asking smart questions, answering any and all of my questions, and communicating with all parties on a claim they clearly laid out the process and executed. No surprises, an absolute cake walk. The roof has been on for a few months and has already been weather tested with zero issues. It's almost as if Tom has a solid grasp of keeping the elements out of your home, which would explain why he and his crew made it look so easy. I wouldn't actively want more hail damage but I do actively want any and all big ticket items to be an experience on par with this. But maybe you can if you call this outfit first, I wish I had.

Frequently asked

Does Texas require a state roofing licence, and does the Denton office hold one?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no roofer in Denton holds one. The checks that do mean something are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, association standing such as RCAT and the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association, manufacturer certifications, and any registration your city requires. This company is listed here as an RCAT Member.
What does RCAT Member mean, and is it the same as a Licensed Roofing Contractor?
They are two different things. RCAT Member means the company pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and experience. Presidio Roofing Company of Denton appears here as a Member. The company's own website describes Presidio as RCAT licensed, so ask which individual holds which credential.
Is the Denton office a real office or just a registered address?
It is a genuine working office. It carries its own BBB business profile, accredited with an A+ rating since April 2017, its own GAF Master Elite contractor profile and its own Owens Corning profile, and the company's team page places co-owner Nick Van Slyke in Denton along with a dedicated Denton General Manager. The suite at 608 E Hickory St is inside Stoke Coworking, a Denton coworking building, so the space is leased rather than owned.
How does the Denton office relate to Presidio's other Texas locations?
Presidio Roofing is one company with a San Antonio headquarters at 414 W. Nakoma St. and city-branded offices in Denton, Flower Mound and Austin. Denton is the North Texas base and was one of the two markets Presidio started in during 2016.
How bad is hail in Denton County?
Denton County sits in the North Texas hail corridor, the part of the state that produces the highest volume of hail related roof claims. Most full roof replacements in this market follow a hail event rather than simple age related wear.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it in Denton?
In a hail prone county they usually deserve a quote. Class 4 shingles are tested to resist hail impact better than standard products, and many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for them. Ask your carrier to confirm the discount in writing and compare it against the added material cost.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Denton?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is handled city by city and county by county. Denton and the surrounding towns each set their own rules. Check with the relevant city building department and make sure your contract says in writing who is responsible for pulling the permit and scheduling inspection.
What roofing work does the Denton office handle?
Its Denton page lists roof repairs, roof replacement, new roof installation, metal roofing, flat roofing, commercial roofing, tile roofing, roof inspections including drone inspections, insurance claim roof replacements, gutter replacements and roof leak repair.
Which towns around Denton does it say it serves?
Its Denton page describes a service area reaching north to Sanger and Pilot Point and south to the Lake Lewisville area, naming Corinth, Argyle, Krum, Sanger, Aubrey, Cross Roads, Providence Village, Lake Dallas, Shady Shores, Pilot Point, Ponder, Hickory Creek, Little Elm, Northlake, Krugerville, Justin, Oak Point, Valley View and Gainesville.
What should I ask a Denton roofer before signing a contract?
Ask for certificates of insurance sent directly by the insurer, a written scope naming the exact shingle line and underlayment, the workmanship warranty term and who honours it, whether crews are employees or subcontractors, who pulls the permit, and the payment schedule. Treat a large upfront deposit as a warning sign, and note that a contractor offering to waive or absorb your insurance deductible is not acting lawfully in Texas.
