About

This record covers the Amarillo branch of Hunter's Precision Construction & Roofing, Inc, which trades publicly as Precision Construction & Roofing. The Amarillo office is listed at 7697 Canyon Dr, Amarillo, TX 79110 on the company's own Contact and Service Areas pages, with its own local number (806) 686-6011. The address sits in Randall County, in south Amarillo. The parent company is family operated across three generations of the Hunter family and is recorded by the Better Business Bureau as started in 2000, BBB Accredited since October 2008 and rated A+. Its main office is in North Richland Hills, and the Amarillo branch is one of several Texas locations alongside Lubbock, Abilene, San Angelo and San Antonio. Ludowici's independent Crown Roofer directory also names Amarillo among the company's locations. Work offered from the Texas branches spans residential re-roofs, commercial low slope systems and a specialty line in slate, clay tile and copper, including historic restoration. The company advertises drone assisted roof diagnostics, storm damage repair and 24/7/365 crews. Because Texas issues no state roofing licence, homeowners in the Panhandle should ask for a current certificate of insurance direct from the insurer and confirm any City of Amarillo contractor registration requirement before work starts.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

They called my CELL PHONE soliciting business. When I called to ask why they were calling me without my authorization the girl (Ashley) lied and told me they were going through the phone book. My cell phone is not listed in any PHONE BOOK! She was also upset with me and hung up on me. DO NOT GET UPSET WITH PEOPLE WASTING YOUR TIME IF YOU BELIEVE IT'S O.K. FOR YOUR BUSINESS TO CALL AROUND WASTING OTHER PEOPLE'S TIME! Your business ethics and quality of work should speak for themselves. You should not have to call around to solicit business.

They have had multiple dates for roof replacement. Never have they shown up. Always an excuse, for example: Materials arent ready, office manager was fired didnt do her job, or the best one, "I thought it was scheduled for next week, not this week." Not sure what the issue is, but check their BBB page. This isnt the only example of not showing up, from what I can tell.

Frequently asked

Does Texas require a state roofing licence?
No. There is no Texas state roofing licence, so no Amarillo roofer can be state licensed. What you can check is proof of insurance sent to you by the insurer, voluntary RCAT status, and whether the contractor is registered with the City of Amarillo where that is required.
What does RCAT Member mean, and how is it different from RCAT Licensed?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas offers plain membership, which a company joins and pays for, and a separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL). Membership alone does not make a company an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor.
What is this company's RCAT status?
The RCAT directory carries a member contractor record for the Amarillo office of Hunter's Precision Construction & Roofing, Inc on Canyon Dr, with Eric Hunter as contact. Read that as membership, not the separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential.
Is the Amarillo office a real branch or just a second registration of the Fort Worth area office?
It is a real branch. RCAT holds two separate records with different street addresses and different local phone numbers, the company's own Contact and Service Areas pages list Amarillo as its own office with an 806 number, Ludowici's independent directory names Amarillo as one of its locations, and the Amarillo address has its own third party business listings.
What roofing materials does the company install?
Composition asphalt shingles, metal, slate, clay tile, copper and wood shake on residential work, plus TPO, EPDM, SBS modified bitumen, built-up roofing and tapered insulation on commercial work.
Is hail a problem for roofs in Amarillo?
Yes. The Panhandle takes regular large hail and high wind, and hail is the dominant driver of Texas roof claims. Wind driven hail on the north and west facing slopes is a common pattern, so ask for a full slope by slope inspection rather than a spot check.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Randall County?
They are worth pricing. Class 4 shingles are tested to resist hail impact better than standard shingles, and many Texas insurers give a premium discount for them. Ask your carrier what the discount is and how long it applies before deciding, since the upfront cost is higher.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Amarillo?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement for roofing, so requirements are set locally. Check with the City of Amarillo building safety department for permit and contractor registration rules, and make your contract state who pulls the permit.
How do I verify a roofer's insurance in Texas?
Request general liability and workers compensation certificates and have the agent email them to you directly. Confirm the dates cover your job and that the insured name matches the company on your contract. Uninsured crews can leave a homeowner exposed if someone is hurt on the property.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for a written scope covering decking replacement pricing, underlayment, ventilation, flashing and clean up. Ask whether crews are employees or subcontractors, who supervises on site, what the workmanship warranty covers, and how change orders are priced. Texas law also allows cancellation of a storm related roofing contract within a short window if the insurance claim is denied, so check how that clause reads.
