About

Honeydew Roofing, LLC is a San Antonio roofing contractor working across Bexar County and the surrounding Hill Country communities. The Better Business Bureau records the company as incorporated on 18 March 2024, which makes it one of the newer firms in the market. It was started by Jacob LaRue with co-owner Christian Bolding, and it trades on the line "Your Trusted Friend in Roofing". The service list is focused rather than sprawling: asphalt shingle roof systems, metal roofing systems, roof repairs, roof replacements, seamless gutters and gutter guards, and insurance restoration work. Free inspections are booked directly through the site, and financing is offered. Named material brands are Owens Corning, TAMKO, IKO, DECRA stone-coated steel and Sheffield Metals. On verifiable credentials, Honeydew is BBB Accredited with an A rating (accredited 25 July 2024) and appears on Owens Corning's own contractor directory as an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor. It is also listed in the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas directory and mirrored on the Central Texas Roofing Contractors Association site. The company additionally advertises a "Directory Certified" badge carrying a $250,000 guarantee; that is a private third party programme, not a manufacturer or government credential, and is reported here as a company claim. Texas issues no state roofing licence, so insurance certificates and these voluntary credentials are what a homeowner can check.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Based on my experience with Honeydew Roofing, I strongly recommend you find a different roofing company! My experience exposed a lack of integrity and that the co-owner, Christian Bolding, does not keep his word and cannot be trusted. I feel I was manipulated, pressured and coerced into signing an agreement of work and into paying my insurance deductible up front, even before my insurance company (USAA) had an opportunity to inspect my roof. Honeydew employee, Dalton Goodwin who arrived at my house in a “Precision Home Pros” paint-wrapped vehicle and said they operate under that name in McKinney TX, had me sign the work agreement on an iPad and didn’t point out any specifics of the agreement. In a call with Mr. Bolding on Mr. Goodwin’s speaker phone, before I paid Honeydew the deductible amount, I asked what if USAA doesn’t find damage. Mr. Bolding’s response was, “We’ll refund your money.” USAA found no hail damage, yet Mr. Bolding has refused to repay me the 2% deductible, worth several thousand dollars. I’m ashamed to say I signed the work agreement without reading it. It states they will not refund or repay the insurance deductible payment I made to them, even if the insurance company doesn’t find damage. Mr. Bolding told me it is law that they must collect the deductible. I’ve since called multiple roofing companies who confirmed it is law to collect the deductible, but not before damage is confirmed by the insurance company. Every roofing company I spoke with said they would never collect the deductible before the insurance company has inspected the roof. I feel I’ve been scammed. USAA used a 3rd party adjuster from All Cat Services to inspect my roof. They said the only damage they found was in 2 different 10’x10’ squares which were marked by Honeydew. They said the damage is not consistent with storm damage. No damage was found anywhere else on my roof. I’ve given Honeydew the general report and the photo sheet I obtained from USAA. The USAA claims rep verbally told me the only damage on my roof was “manufactured damage” and referred to it as vandalism. USAA will pay for a new roof under vandalism coverage, not hail damage. Honeydew was the only company on my roof. Even after sharing this information with Honeydew both verbally and in writing, Mr. Bolding has refused to refund my money. The evidence from USAA suggests that Honeydew is responsible for the damage to my roof. I don’t want Honeydew Roofing to replace my roof based on this evidence. My wife and I are senior citizens, and I feel we are victims of financial abuse of the elderly. I wish I had done an internet search on Mr. Bolding before I engaged with Honeydew. Don’t make the same mistake we did, choose a different roofing company.

Christian M. came out and conducted a roof inspection of my residence. Getting the inspection scheduled was quick and easy. He worked withe so that the inspection could be completed during a time that fit my schedule. Christian arrived on time and was extremely polite and professional. He did a great job with the inspection / evaluation of my residence. Quick, honest and fair. I would recommend giving Honey Dew and Christian a chance to earn your business.

Jacob, the owner at Honeydew, was our point guy for our roof replacement. He was very knowledgeable and gave us an estimate for replacing our roof without even asking for insurance documents. (We did provide the documents anyway.) His price was very fair. He added gutters and the work his company did was outstanding! There were other repairs needed and fascia boards replaced and painted to match. It was all perfect. His employees cleaned up and swept and raked everything. They put up protection over our garage door and moved plants, etc. They go above and beyond. Many homeowners in our neighborhood were hit by the hail storm in May and went with this company to do their repairs. I can see why. We talked to several other companies before we decided to go with Honeydew. If you need work done on your roof, check out Honeydew. They are excellent!

Best roofing company by far! Trustworthy and fair. I didn’t feel like they were trying to take advantage at all. Quality of work was great and fast!

Frequently asked

Does Texas license roofing contractors?
No. Texas has no state roofing contractor licence, so there is nothing on a state register to look up. That makes three things worth checking yourself: a current certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance sent directly by the insurer, voluntary credentials such as RCAT membership and manufacturer certification, and the BBB file.
Is Honeydew Roofing's Owens Corning certification real?
Yes. Honeydew Roofing, LLC has a contractor profile on owenscorning.com describing it as an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which is the manufacturer's own directory rather than a self published claim. Preferred is Owens Corning's entry network tier and sits below Platinum Preferred, so ask which extended warranty options that tier unlocks on your specific job.
What does its RCAT status mean?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas lists Honeydew Roofing in its contractor directory as a member. Membership means the company pays dues and agrees to the association's code. It is not a government licence, and it is not the same thing as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (the CRRL, RRL and CRL designations).
Is the company BBB accredited, and how new is it?
BBB lists Honeydew Roofing LLC as accredited since 25 July 2024 with an A rating, and records the date of incorporation as 18 March 2024. It is a young company, so it is reasonable to ask for recent local references and to check that the workmanship warranty is backed by a manufacturer programme as well as by the company itself.
What is "Directory Certified" and the $250,000 guarantee?
That badge comes from a private third party certification programme, not from a shingle manufacturer, a trade association or any Texas agency. Treat it as a marketing credential. If the $250,000 guarantee matters to you, ask for the actual guarantee document and read who administers it, what triggers a payout and what is excluded.
Which areas does Honeydew Roofing serve?
Its site names the greater San Antonio metro and Bexar County, including Timberwood Park, Stone Oak, Alamo Heights, Windcrest, Hollywood Park, Terrell Hills, Olmos Park and Cross Mountain, plus Fair Oaks Ranch, Cibolo, Schertz, Garden Ridge, Canyon Lake, Boerne and Helotes.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it around San Antonio?
Bexar County takes repeated hail, so Class 4 (UL 2218) impact-resistant shingles are a common upgrade here. Most major Texas carriers offer a premium credit for them, but the size of the credit differs by insurer and it is not applied automatically. Confirm the discount with your own carrier in writing before paying for the upgrade.
How does an insurance restoration job usually work?
Typically the roofer inspects, documents the damage and meets the adjuster on site, then the scope and price follow the carrier's approved estimate plus any supplements. Ask up front who talks to the adjuster, what happens if the claim is denied or only partially approved, and get the answer in writing. Texas law bars a contractor from paying or rebating your deductible, so an offer to waive it is a warning sign.
Who handles the permit for a roof replacement?
There is no statewide Texas roofing permit. Permitting and inspection are set city by city and county by county, so San Antonio, Schertz, Boerne and unincorporated Bexar County do not all work the same way. Check with your local building department and put in the contract which party pulls the permit and pays the fee.
What should a homeowner ask before signing?
Ask for insurer-issued proof of general liability and workers compensation cover, a written scope naming the shingle line, underlayment, flashing, drip edge and ventilation, the manufacturer warranty and the separate workmanship warranty in writing, who supervises the crew each day, whether the crew is in house or subcontracted, and a payment schedule tied to milestones rather than a large upfront deposit.
