About

Legend Exteriors is a family owned roofing and storm restoration company that has operated out of Ellis County, south of Dallas, since 2011. Gunnar Holt is listed as president on the company's BBB profile, alongside Julie Holt as managing member and Paxton Holt as manager. The company handles residential and commercial work, advertising free inspections, insurance claim consultations, metal roofing and a lifetime workmanship warranty, plus commercial metal, TPO, PVC, EPDM and coating systems. The RCAT directory carries a San Antonio record for Legend Exteriors at 300 Convent Street, Suite 1330, with a local (210) number. That address is the Bank of America Center tower downtown, and Suite 1330 is a Regus flexible workspace and virtual office centre, so the suite is a rented business address rather than a roofing yard. The company's own website has no locations page at all, and lists only its Ellis County office. Homeowners in the San Antonio area can still reach the company, but the work is run from the Red Oak and Palmer headquarters near Dallas. Ask which crew and which project manager would actually handle a San Antonio job, and get the answer in writing before signing.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

My experience was great from the beginning with this company. The salesman was fantastic and gave me one of the 4 estimates I obtained. The bid was not the lowest and based my decision on his professionalism, his taking his time to explain to me what was needed, and answering my calls always for the next two weeks until I signed the contract. Within a week of signing the contract, he assigned a crew to begin work. Mike was the two man crew leader from the companies service department. He called and asked to come to my home and review the work which I agreed to. It was pouring rain when he arrived but he took his time and when he was done we met inside to discuss the plans in detail. He was very knowledgeable and it was easy to understand what needed to be done and most importantly what did not need to be done. He said he would start the next day and replacing the facia and soffit around my house would be done in a day. The next day Mike showed up with Adam, a very very polite young man who wanted to work, work, work. Professional in every way, this crew did a fantastic job and I will definitely use this company again.

The crew was not only professional and punctual but also demonstrated meticulous attention to detail throughout the project. They addressed all my questions and went above and beyond, ensuring that my roof was not only repaired effectively but also reinforced for long-term durability. Rob D was a great help to me. I live out of state and when my rental property suffered severe hail damage to the roof, siding and gutters he was there to help me out. He handled things with my insurance company to where I had zero money out of pocket and I basically got a new house. All new roof, siding and new big boy gutters. The house looks better than the original color and roof did when the house was new. I was happy about how friendly and easy to work with they were, all while being professional during the whole process. I highly recommend this company, they are honest and really do great work. Be careful of other companies taking advantage after a storm, you do not have to worry with Legend. 6 STARS OUT OF 5! Pictures below of my new pad! The tenants are happy as all get-out too!

Steve was great to work with. He made the process easy and accommodating. The two guys that were assigned to my house did a fantastic job with siding removal and clean up. They were very friendly and personable. I will definitely use them again for future projects!

We worked with Brandon at Legend Exteriors and the experience from start to finish was easy, enjoyable and above all we are thrilled with the result. We sent Brandon photos of what we wanted the house to look like and he sourced all the materials, provided quotes, and got his crew to work as soon as we were ready. Thanks again Legend Exteriors, Brandon, and the entire crew we love the result!! Pictures below are before, photo of what we wanted and the final result.

Frequently asked

Is Legend Exteriors licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no roofer working in San Antonio holds one. The trust basis here is insurance, association standing and any city or county registration that applies. Ask for a current certificate of insurance before you sign anything.
What does the RCAT listing actually mean?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas lists Legend Exteriors as a Member, which means the company pays association dues and appears in the RCAT directory. RCAT separately awards a Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) that is earned through testing and experience. Member and Licensed are not the same thing, and this company is listed as a Member.
Does Legend Exteriors have a real office in San Antonio?
The RCAT record gives 300 Convent Street, Suite 1330, San Antonio. That suite is a Regus flexible workspace and virtual office centre inside the Bank of America Center, and the company's own website shows no San Antonio office. Treat this as a registered business address served from the Ellis County headquarters rather than a staffed local branch.
Who runs the company?
Gunnar Holt is listed as president and LLC member on the BBB profile, with Julie Holt as managing member and Paxton Holt as manager. Gunnar Holt is also named as the RCAT contact on every one of the company's seven Texas registrations.
What kind of roofing work does Legend Exteriors do?
The company's site describes itself as a storm restoration company covering residential and commercial property. Residential work includes free inspections, insurance claim consultations and metal roofs. Commercial work covers metal, TPO, PVC, EPDM and coating systems.
Are impact resistant shingles worth it in the San Antonio area?
South Central Texas gets real hail, and Class 4 impact resistant shingles are rated to take a harder strike than a standard three tab. Many Texas insurers offer a premium credit for a Class 4 roof, so ask your carrier what discount applies before you choose a product.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in San Antonio?
Texas has no single statewide building code for this, so permitting and inspection rules are set city by city and county by county. Check the City of San Antonio or your Bexar County jurisdiction, and make sure the contract states clearly who pulls the permit and who schedules the inspection.
How should I handle the insurance claim?
The company advertises free inspections and insurance claim consultations. Keep the roles separate, deal with your insurer directly or through a licensed public adjuster, and make the roofer give you a written scope and price that stands on its own rather than a figure tied to whatever the carrier pays.
What should I check before signing with any Texas roofer?
Confirm the RCAT listing and whether it says Member or Licensed, ask for certificates of general liability and workers compensation and call the agent to verify them, confirm the physical business address rather than a suite number, read the BBB profile, and get the workmanship warranty in writing.
What warranty does Legend Exteriors offer?
The website advertises a lifetime workmanship warranty on its roofs, and says its Good Contractors List membership adds complimentary third party mediation and a $10,000 third party guarantee on quality. Ask for the full written terms, including what voids the warranty and whether it transfers if you sell the house.
