About

Texas RoofCrafters is a residential and commercial roofing contractor based in Montgomery, Texas, in Montgomery County. Its registered address is 2300 Woodforest Pkwy N, Suite 250-211, Montgomery, TX 77316, on the north side of town in the Woodforest area, and the number it publishes is (281) 808-7401. The company's own About page says it was started by Jimmy Ballinger, a lifelong Montgomery County resident and career firefighter, who saw a need for a roofing company built on honesty and integrity. The work listed on the company's site covers free, no obligation roof inspections, re-roofing for both cash jobs and insurance claims, roof repair, routine roof maintenance (re-securing flashing, re-caulking exposed nails, replacing pipe jacks and chasing leaks), emergency tarping after a storm, and replacing rotted trim and fascia during a roof replacement. The site describes the company as a GAF Certified contractor able to offer the GAF Weather Stopper System Plus limited warranty, and Texas RoofCrafters appears in both GAF's and Owens Corning's own contractor directories. The Better Business Bureau lists Texas RoofCrafters as an accredited business with an A+ rating, accredited since January 2025, and records the company as incorporated in January 2023. Its GuildQuality profile lists jobs across Montgomery, Conroe, Willis, New Waverly, New Caney, Cypress, Magnolia, Spring, Shenandoah, The Woodlands, Dayton and Houston. This is an inland Montgomery County company, so hail and wind insurance claims drive most of its storm business. One note for homeowners searching online: this company has no connection to RoofCrafters of Leander, to Precision Roof Crafters of Houston, or to the separate RoofCrafters business in Savannah, Georgia. Confirm you are dealing with texasroofcrafters.com and the (281) 808-7401 number.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I can’t speak highly enough of Jimmy and Texas RoofCrafters. He has done several repairs and just replaced the entire roof on my commercial building, which is a veterinary hospital. Jimmy is extremely responsive and clearly explains his recommendations. He and his crew have taken great care when working on my building to limit disruptions and ensure the safety of clients and their pets. The final result of the new roof looks fantastic and his pricing is very reasonable. I would not trust any other company with my roof.

I would like to highly recommend Jimmy with Texas RoofCrafters for all your roofing needs. He is very attentive to his customers' needs and will walk you through the process of what's needed, how it will be done, and what to expect from setup to cleanup. When he's not installing roofs, he's pressure washing driveways, houses, and roofs with his state of the art, mobile pressure washing unit. Texas RoofCrafters did an exceptional job on our roof and cleaning the driveway all for a reasonable price. I can tell you Jimmy will treat your house like it's his own.

Texas RoofCrafters were incredible partners throughout the process of replacing our roof. They were tremendous advocates in working with our insurance and when it came to actually replacing the roof, they did an awesome job with great results and amazing timeliness. Thanks to Jimmy Ballinger and Texas RoofCrafters for a 5star experience. Highly recommended!

Jimmy and his team did a great job through the whole process. Very professional and helpful walking me through the insurance process. Once it was time for the roof replacement, they were great. Showed up early and worked into the evening to try to get it all done. The clean up after the job was perfect. I highly recommend considering Jimmy for any roof work you need.

Jimmy and his crew did a phenomenal job installing our roof! During the discussion phase, prior to installation, Jimmy communicated with professionalism and ease. He went over and above to ensure we had a solid product while also providing a stunning curb appeal. If you need a competent, well-priced, trustworthy roofing company, Texas RoofCrafters should be your first choice! Thanks Jimmy & crew!

Frequently asked

Is Texas RoofCrafters licensed by the State of Texas?
No, and neither is any other roofer here. Texas does not issue a statewide roofing contractor licence. What you can check instead is a current certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance, the company's standing with trade bodies such as RCAT, and whether the city or county requires a contractor registration for your job.
What does the RCAT Member status on this listing mean?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Member means the company pays dues and belongs to the association. It is not the same thing as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires testing and experience. Texas RoofCrafters is shown here as a Member.
Are its GAF and Owens Corning credentials real?
Both manufacturers list the company in their own contractor directories: GAF under Montgomery, Texas, and Owens Corning under its contractor profile pages. The company describes itself as a GAF Certified contractor able to offer the GAF Weather Stopper System Plus limited warranty. Ask for the warranty paperwork in writing before you sign, since enhanced warranties depend on the exact system installed.
Does Montgomery County get enough hail to worry about?
Montgomery County sits inland and takes hail and straight-line wind. Spring and early summer storms are the usual trigger for claims. Texas RoofCrafters lists hail and wind claim assistance and free post-storm inspections as core services.
Should I ask for impact-resistant Class 4 shingles?
It is worth asking. Class 4 impact-rated shingles are tested against a steel ball drop and many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for them. Ask your carrier what discount applies before you choose, and ask the roofer to quote the Class 4 option alongside the standard one so you can compare real numbers.
Does the company handle the insurance claim for me?
Its insurance claims page says it can help you navigate a hail or wind damage claim and starts with a free, no-obligation inspection. Be clear that a roofer can document damage and meet the adjuster, but only a licensed public adjuster or lawyer may negotiate a claim on your behalf in Texas. A roofer who offers to waive or absorb your deductible is a red flag.
Do I need a permit for a re-roof in Montgomery County?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so permitting is set city by city and county by county. Inside Montgomery city limits and in nearby municipalities you should expect a permit and inspection for a full replacement. Ask who is pulling the permit and get the permit number, since the permit holder carries responsibility for the work.
What is the difference between the material warranty and the labour warranty?
The manufacturer covers the shingles or panels themselves and the contractor covers the installation. Most leaks in the first few years come from workmanship, not the material, so ask how many years the workmanship warranty runs, whether it is transferable if you sell, and whether it survives if the company closes.
What should I ask before signing anything?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer, a written scope naming brand, product line and colour, the decking and ventilation allowance, who pulls the permit, the payment schedule, and the workmanship warranty term. Get it on one document and do not pay the balance until the final inspection passes.
There are several Texas roofers with similar names. How do I know I have the right one?
This company is Texas RoofCrafters of Montgomery, at texasroofcrafters.com on (281) 808-7401. It is a different business from RoofCrafters of Leander, from Precision Roof Crafters of Houston, and from the RoofCrafters company in Savannah, Georgia. Match the domain, the phone number and the Montgomery County address before you hand over a deposit.
