Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration Not checked for RockwallTexas has no state roofing licence, and city rules differ: some require contractor registration, some run a voluntary registry, some neither. Ask this company and your local permit office.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0654 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Tejas roofing was amazing from start to finish. It took over a year to get my insurance claim to go through, and Nathan was helpful throughout the whole process. He came to my house multiple times and interacted with insurance claims people and ultimately the appraiser that I had to hire. I don’t think the claim would have been approved without his help. Once the claim was approved, Julie and Jared guided me through all the roofing steps with professionalism and patience. No question was too small. On installation day Julio, the foreman, was onsite all day and helped trouble shoot some unique things that came up when the shingles were removed. My roof is now beautiful and they stayed until every bit of construction debris was cleaned up. Can’t think of how the process or end product could be improved. I highly recommend Tejas Roofing. My daughter also used them with great results.

We had our roof replaced a little over a year ago, I am still so happy with it. Our roof has held up beautifully, and we could not be more pleased with the entire experience. From the initial inspection through project completion, the team was professional, and very responsive with all my questions. They took the time to explained the process clearly, and kept us informed every step of the way. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and left my property perfectly clean when the job was finished. Still have never found one stray nail. One thing that really stood out was their commitment to using high-quality materials. They definitely did not cut corners, and it shows. After more than a year of weather, including high winds, heavy rain, and hail, our roof still looks brand new! I 100% recommend Tejas, they are a trustworthy roofing company that takes pride in their work, We would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

Nathan and Tejas Roofworks are completely professional and really really good at what they do. I needed a new roof put on my building and I am so thoroughly pleased with the job they did. I have had so many contractors in the past promise and not deliver or get paid, run and just disappear. Tejas Roofworks has me dry in a downpour and fixed issues that had been ongoing for years. I highly highly recommend giving them a call for your next project. Kay @ Sabrina’s Flowers

We worked with Tejas Roofworks this summer to replace our roof. The team did a great job from the original estimates, working with the insurance company, and through the installation. Nathan and Jared were great to work with through the entire process and kept us informed along the way. Would highly recommend if in the need of a roofing repair or replacement.

Frequently asked

Does Tejas Roofworks have a Texas state roofing license?
Texas does not license roofers at the state level, so no company can hold a state roofing license. Tejas Roofworks + Restoration appears in this directory with RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor status, a voluntary credential earned through the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas.
What does the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential mean?
It is a voluntary designation from the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas that requires passing an examination covering roofing systems and business practices. It goes a step beyond plain RCAT membership, which only indicates that a company belongs to the association.
Is Tejas Roofworks BBB accredited?
Yes. BBB records show the company has been accredited since August 2021, holds an A+ rating, and started business in January 2021.
Who owns Tejas Roofworks?
The company is veteran owned and was co-founded by Nathan Hunting and Jared Jimenez, who came to roofing from commercial real estate and medical device careers and emphasize project management and communication.
Does Tejas Roofworks manage insurance claims?
Yes. Claim management is one of its core advertised services, which matters in Rockwall County where hail is the most common cause of roof insurance claims.
Is hail a big risk in Rockwall?
Yes. Rockwall and the surrounding northeast Dallas suburbs sit in North Texas hail alley, where spring hailstorms regularly damage roofs. Class 4 impact resistant shingles can reduce damage, and some Texas insurers offer premium credits for them.
Can a roofer offer to waive my insurance deductible?
No. Since 2019, Texas law requires homeowners to pay their deductible on insurance-funded roof work, and contractors who offer to absorb it are breaking the law. Treat any such offer as a red flag.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Rockwall?
Permitting in Texas is handled city by city rather than under a statewide code. Check with the City of Rockwall or your own city's building department, and confirm in your contract who is responsible for pulling any required permit.
What is Brava tile roofing?
Brava is a composite synthetic tile made to look like clay tile, slate, or cedar shake with less weight and strong impact ratings. Tejas Roofworks lists Brava tile roofing among its services.
What should I verify before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for a current certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer, a written itemized scope and price, warranty terms in writing, and a physical Texas address with local references. Because Texas has no state roofing license, this paperwork is your main protection.
