About
Atlas Restoration is a roofing and storm restoration contractor working out of 259 Ranch Trail, Suite A in Rockwall. The company handles both commercial and residential buildings across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and its own website also names Austin, Houston and San Antonio as places it works. Better Business Bureau and RCAT records both give a start date of 18 May 2016, and managing partner Nick Forsell is named as the principal.
The commercial side of the business covers low slope systems including TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen and built up roofing, along with metal and coating systems. The residential side covers asphalt and designer shingles, standing seam metal, tile and slate, plus storm restoration and help with insurance claims.
Texas does not license roofers at the state level, so the useful signals here are the third party ones. RCAT lists Atlas under Nick Forsell CRRL with Commercial and Residential Roofing License 03-0399, which is RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential rather than plain membership, and Atlas appears in RCAT's Licensed Contractor results. Atlas is also an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, and its site names NTRCA and United Claims Professionals.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration
Not checked for RockwallTexas has no state roofing licence, and city rules differ: some require contractor registration, some run a voluntary registry, some neither. Ask this company and your local permit office.
Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0399 or the company name.
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Matt was fantastic! He definitely made us feel that our roof repairs were more than "just a job" meaning that he took care to make sure we understood exactly what work was being done and he was on site each day to follow up. Any concerns were immediately addressed and always met our satisfaction. Clean-up after the job was terrific; Matt even came by himself to conduct a second sweep for nails. Atlas Restoration was a great to work with and would recommend them for any roofing/gutter issue!

I found Atlas Restoration through my realtor and glad I did. Matthew was excellent. We were moving out of state and needed the roof replaced quickly. He made sure the work was completed on time and came back afterwards to ensure the job was done right. I was navigating an insurance claim and he was very flexible and understanding with me getting the insurance check in order to get Atlas paid. Absolutely recommend!

Matthew R, and Nick Forsell were both a pleasure to work with! After we received softball sized hail damage to our roof, we had over 1,000 puncture spots and leaks all throughout our building. Atlas restoration was really quick to come up with the best solution that best fit our needs in a very quick manner as time was of the essence in our situation. After inspecting our roof they immediately started to patch the bigger puncture areas because we were expecting more rain that evening. We are very impressed with the professionalism, quick service, and customer service that they provided! I am not going to lie I was a little skeptical at first because when I looked them up they were from Dallas, but they have planted roots and now have a business office here in BRYAN TX! I would recommend them 100% for all your construction or roofing needs!!

Top notch service. Jason helped me navigate a difficult claim with my insurance company and didn't settle for anything but a full roof and gutter replacement. His expertise and commitment to ensuring the roof was covered by my insurance company was invaluable. I would recommend him, Atlas Restoration and all their crew members to anyone. I don't think I could have settled this claim without them.

They did a great job with our roof back in 2018 and recently inspected our roof after a nasty hail storm. Instead of the standard, “Oh, you need a new roof,” they were honest in their assessment. Straight shooters and excellent service.

Frequently asked
Does Texas require a state licence to roof a house?
No. Texas has no state roofing licence and no state roofing regulator. Anyone can legally call themselves a roofer here, so the checks that matter are a current certificate of insurance, a real local address, voluntary credentials such as RCAT, and any registration your city or county happens to require.
What is RCAT, and does Atlas Restoration hold more than plain membership?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, a voluntary trade body. Paying dues makes a company a Member. Separately, RCAT runs a Licensed Roofing Contractor programme with an exam and continuing education. The RCAT directory lists Atlas Restoration under Nick Forsell CRRL with Commercial and Residential Roofing License 03-0399, and Atlas appears in RCAT's Licensed Contractor results, so this is the earned credential and not just membership.
Is an RCAT licence the same as a government licence?
No. It is issued by a private trade association, not by the State of Texas. It is a useful signal that a contractor sat an exam and keeps up continuing education, but it carries no state enforcement behind it. Treat it as one input alongside insurance and references, not as proof of legal authority to work.
How do I check that Atlas Restoration is insured?
Ask for a current certificate of insurance covering general liability and workers compensation, and ask that the certificate be sent to you directly by the insurance agent rather than forwarded by the salesperson. Confirm the policy dates cover your build window and that the named insured matches the entity on your contract, which here is Atlas Restoration LLC.
Rockwall is in Hail Alley. Are impact-resistant shingles worth it?
North and Central Texas take more hail losses than almost anywhere in the country, and hail is the reason most roofs in Rockwall County get replaced. UL 2218 Class 4 impact-resistant shingles are built to survive a steel ball drop test that cracks standard shingles, and most Texas carriers give a premium discount for them. Ask your insurer what the discount is before you decide, because it often pays back the upgrade over the life of the roof.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Rockwall?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement for residential reroofing, so permitting and inspection rules are set city by city and county by county. Call the building department for the jurisdiction your property sits in before work starts, and put it in the contract that the roofer pulls any required permit and schedules any required inspection.
Does WPI-8 windstorm certification apply to a roof in Rockwall County?
No. WPI-8 certificates are issued through the Texas Department of Insurance for structures in the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties and parts of Harris County, where TWIA windstorm coverage is in play. Rockwall County is inland, so WPI-8 is not part of a reroof here. Hail and wind claims through your regular homeowners policy are the relevant path.
How does a Texas hail insurance claim usually work?
You report the damage to your carrier, an adjuster inspects, and the carrier issues a scope and an estimate based on actual cash value first, with recoverable depreciation released after the work is done and invoiced. Texas law bars a roofer from paying or waiving your deductible. If a contractor offers to absorb it, that is a reason to walk away.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for the certificate of insurance direct from the agent, the exact entity name and physical address on the contract, the manufacturer and product line being installed, the written manufacturer warranty and the separate workmanship warranty with its term, who pulls the permit, the payment schedule, and whether the crew is in house or subcontracted. Get the whole scope in writing before any money changes hands.
What roof types does Atlas Restoration work on?
Both low slope and steep slope. On the commercial side its site lists TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, built up roofing, metal and coating systems. On the residential side it lists asphalt and designer shingles, standing seam metal, tile and slate, along with storm restoration and repair work.
