About

Spire Roofing Solutions is a husband and wife owned roofing contractor based in College Station, serving the Bryan and College Station area of Brazos County. Better Business Bureau records show the business incorporated on 2 September 2020 and accredited since May 2021 with an A+ rating, naming Shannon Howell as owner. The company's own pages credit Austin and Shannon Howell as the founders, who came into roofing from a background in real estate, and it describes itself as a deliberately small family run operation rather than a large corporate outfit. Most of the work is insurance restoration after wind and hail losses. The site describes guiding homeowners through inspection, documentation and the claim itself, and working directly with the insurer to get the scope right. The published service list runs to residential and commercial roofing, roof installation and replacement, roof repair, roof inspections, flat and low slope systems, metal roofing, seamless gutters, siding, windows, masonry and painting. Shingle brands named on the site include CertainTeed, IKO and GAF. Spire appears on GAF's own residential contractor directory as a certified contractor. It also lists a Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce membership, which the chamber's directory confirms. It operates from 4700 Elmo Weedon Road Suite 102 in College Station and also lists an address at 750 William D Fitch Parkway Suite 410. Published service coverage reaches beyond Brazos County into Brenham, Hearne, Navasota, Waco and the northwest Houston suburbs.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration Registered — Arlington Check the register ↗ Registered contractor, City of Arlington. Arlington registers roofing companies in its general contractor category; its published dataset carries no registration number and no expiry date, and the dataset itself may lag by some months.. This company appears on the city's own list of registered contractors. The city publishes no certificate number or expiry date for this programme, so ask to see the registration itself before work starts.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0602 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Spire Roofing and, in particular Shea Sikes, were absolutely fantastic to work with during our entire reroofing process. A hail storm damaged our roof to the point of needing a complete reinstall. Shea walked me through every step with outstanding communication and thoughtful preparation around our rental schedule. He worked very closely with our insurance to make this a completely seamless process. Oh…and he and his team ripped through the reroof process in no time!! Don’t bother shopping around, Spire roofing and Shea will give you the most valuable commodity: Time, and peace of mind!! Thanks Shea, appreciate everything !

If you work in any sort of property management, Austin's team at Spire Roofing are absolutely incredible to work with. Their understanding of a community project of this magnitude surpasses any expectations an association could have. Avery & Jackson have successfully and seamlessly completed multiple multi-family property projects for our clients. This company checks all the boxes, delivering outstanding professionalism, high-quality workmanship, efficient service, project cleanliness and clear communication.

Shea and the Spire team replaced our drip edge and perimeter shingles, applied new waterproofing on our small flat roof, and changed all the boots and vent caps on our roof penetrations. They did an excellent job, were very professional, cleaned up after themselves, and completed the job in one day. They even worked into the evening to ensure our roof was completely sealed and wasn’t left vulnerable to the elements. They will be my go to roofing company from now on.

I can’t say enough great things about Shea Sikes at Spire Roofing Solutions. We’ve had the opportunity to work with Shea on multiple multifamily projects, and every experience has been exceptional from start to finish. His organization is truly impressive. With multifamily properties, there are always moving parts, tight timelines, and coordination challenges—but Shea handles it all seamlessly. He keeps everything on track, anticipates needs before they become issues, and ensures every detail is accounted for. Communication is another area where he stands out. Shea is responsive, clear, and proactive. We’re never left wondering about timelines, updates, or next steps. He makes the entire process smooth and stress-free, which is invaluable when managing larger-scale projects. If you’re looking for someone who is professional, reliable, and incredibly well-organized, I highly recommend Shea Sikes and the team at Spire Roofing Solutions. He consistently delivers outstanding results.

All of the personnel at Spire Roofing and their subcontractors were great to work with. They were professional, attentive to detail and insured the work was done correctly. The pricing was reasonable and they worked well with our insurer. The total experience was great and I would strongly recommend their services to other potential customers.

Frequently asked

Is Spire Roofing Solutions licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a statewide roofing contractor licence, so no roofer in Texas can hold one. What can be checked is insurance, city or county registration where required, and voluntary industry credentials. Spire carries the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas Licensed Roofing Contractor credential and is BBB accredited in College Station with an A+ rating.
What does the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential mean?
It is a separately earned credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) awarded by the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas through its own testing and experience requirements. It is a step above plain RCAT membership, which only means a company pays dues. Because Texas has no state roofing licence, the RCAT credential is one of the few structured qualifications a Texas roofer can actually earn.
Who owns Spire Roofing Solutions?
The company is husband and wife owned. Its own site credits Austin and Shannon Howell as the founders, who moved into roofing and construction from a background in real estate, and BBB records list Shannon Howell as owner.
Does Spire handle insurance claims for storm damage?
Yes, that is the core of the business. The company says it specialises in working with insurers so a property is restored to pre storm condition, and its site describes guiding homeowners through the inspection, documentation and claim process and working directly with the insurance provider. Note that in Texas a roofer cannot negotiate or adjust a claim on your behalf unless licensed as a public adjuster, and adjusting and contracting on the same job is not permitted.
Should I consider Class 4 impact resistant shingles in the Brazos Valley?
It is worth pricing. Central Texas takes damaging hail, and Class 4 shingles are rated against the UL 2218 steel ball impact test. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, which can offset part of the upgrade cost over the life of the roof. Ask your carrier what discount applies to your policy before choosing a shingle.
What shingle brands does the company install?
Its residential roofing page names CertainTeed, IKO and GAF. Spire is listed on GAF's own contractor directory as a certified GAF contractor. Ask which specific shingle line and underlayment are in your quote, because the warranty terms differ significantly between a builder grade three tab, an architectural laminate and a Class 4 impact rated product.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in College Station or Bryan?
Texas has no uniformly enforced statewide building code, so permitting is set city by city. College Station and Bryan each run their own permitting and inspection, and rules in Brenham, Navasota and unincorporated Brazos County differ again. Confirm in writing who pulls the permit and who pays for it before work starts.
What areas does Spire Roofing Solutions serve?
Its locations page lists College Station, Bryan, Brenham, Hearne, Waco, Katy, Cypress, Spring, Tomball and Navasota, plus surrounding Bryan and College Station areas.
How do I verify a roofer's insurance in Texas?
Ask the roofer for the name of its insurance agent, then ask the agent to send you the certificate of insurance directly. It should show general liability and workers compensation, current effective dates, and you as certificate holder. A certificate forwarded by the contractor is easier to fake than one that arrives from the carrier.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract after a storm?
Ask for the total contract price rather than just your deductible, a written scope naming the shingle line, underlayment and any decking allowance, who pulls the permit, the difference between the manufacturer warranty and the workmanship warranty, and the crew's expected time on site. In Texas, be wary of anyone offering to waive or absorb your deductible, which is not lawful.
