About

Schrader Roofing, Inc. is a long established Amarillo roofing contractor at 612 SW 4th Avenue in downtown Amarillo, Potter County. BBB records a business start date of June 1, 1988 and opened its file on the company in 1995. The company handles both commercial and residential roofing, and the BBB file records a City of Amarillo contractor license, number CRCON-001977. The company appears in GAF's own commercial roofing contractor directory as a GAF GoldElite Commercial Contractor, the level at which a contractor can offer GAF's Diamond Pledge NDL roof guarantee on qualifying low slope systems. It is also listed in the Texas Panhandle Roofing Contractors Association directory and in the RCAT directory, which records it under both residential and commercial categories. Schrader Roofing has no website that could be found through any of the directories that list it, so homeowners deal with the company by phone. Texas issues no state roofing license, so the checks that matter are current general liability and workers compensation insurance verified with the insurer, plus City of Amarillo contractor registration. Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle see frequent severe hail, so impact resistant Class 4 shingles are worth discussing on any residential replacement.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0276 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

They guys helping us replace our roof were awesome and very professional. The contractors who actually did the work were the best. We never found any nails or tacks in our yard. The whole job from the proposal, working with our insurance, picking out shingles, performing the work and clean-up afterwards was very professional

Frequently asked

Is Schrader Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
There is no such thing. Texas issues no state roofing license. What the company does hold, according to its BBB file, is a City of Amarillo contractor license, number CRCON-001977. City and county registration, verified insurance and voluntary association credentials are the real checks available to a Texas homeowner.
What does the RCAT Licensed status mean here?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas separates plain membership, which is paid dues plus a directory entry, from the Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which is earned through documented experience and examination. Schrader Roofing carries the credentialed Licensed status, not membership alone.
Does Schrader Roofing have a website?
None could be found. The RCAT directory, the Texas Panhandle Roofing Contractors Association directory and the BBB profile all list the company without a website. Contact is by phone at (806) 374-7243 or at the office at 612 SW 4th Avenue, Amarillo, TX 79101. Similar domains belong to unrelated companies with the same surname.
Is this the same company as Schrader Roofing Company of Lubbock?
No. Schrader Roofing Company of Lubbock is a separate business at 1941 Texas Avenue in Lubbock, founded in January 2020, with its own phone number and website. There are also Schrader Roofing businesses outside Texas. The Amarillo company is the one at 612 SW 4th Avenue with the (806) 374-7243 number.
How long has the Amarillo company been operating?
BBB records a business start date of June 1, 1988, and the BBB file itself was opened on September 11, 1995. The RCAT directory entry shows a slightly later establishment date of April 1, 1990, so the two sources differ by about two years.
Is the company BBB accredited?
No. The BBB profile states that Schrader Roofing, Inc. is not a BBB Accredited Business and carries a Not Rated status because the BBB says it does not have sufficient information to issue a rating. That is not a negative mark, it simply means there is little BBB activity on the file.
What is a GAF GoldElite Commercial Contractor?
It is a factory certification level in GAF's commercial programme. Contractors at that level can offer the GAF Diamond Pledge NDL roof guarantee, with coverage terms up to 25 years on qualifying systems. GAF's own commercial contractor directory carries a profile for Schrader Roofing Inc at the Amarillo address.
Does it do residential roofs as well as commercial?
Yes. Both the RCAT directory and the Texas Panhandle Roofing Contractors Association directory list the company under the residential and commercial category, and the RCAT entry references a commercial and residential roofing license.
What should Amarillo homeowners know about hail?
The Texas Panhandle takes regular severe hail, and hail claims drive most residential roof replacement in the region. Ask any bidder about Class 4 impact resistant shingles, which are rated against a steel ball impact test, and check with your own insurer about whether a Class 4 roof earns a premium credit on your policy.
What should I ask before signing with any Texas roofer?
Ask for a certificate of insurance and phone the insurer to confirm it is current. Confirm city registration, in Amarillo's case with the City of Amarillo. Get the full scope in writing, including underlayment, decking replacement rate, ventilation and haul away. Ask who pulls the permit, what the workmanship warranty covers and for how long, and whether the manufacturer warranty on offer requires a certified installer. Do not pay in full before the work is finished.
