Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

As a realtor I value a company that shows professionalism, shows up on time, communicates effectively, has clear pricing, and puts a good product on my client’s home. Roof Squad has been great! They sent texts with updates. The workers were professional, they cleaned up after themselves, and most importantly my clients were very happy with their work!! I’m glad to have a company that’s been in business a long time that I can always count on to come out and help my clients every time!

Roof Squad is THE COMPANY that you want to do your gutters. They have a very good product for a reasonable price. The price you are quoted IS the final price. The installation team is very professional and friendly. They did not mind answering all of my questions. I was sent pictures of my house after the job was completed including aerial shots so I could see the top of gutters and screens. I appreciate that very much. Arnold and Armando were in contact with me until the job was completed. Arnold even called me again the day after the completion to ask how I liked the new gutters. Arnold if very knowledgeable and helped me choose the perfect color to match my house. Again, this is THE COMPANY you want for your gutters. Thank you Roof Squad!

We have now worked with Roof Squad on two separate roofing projects, and I can confidently say their professionalism, attention to detail, and customer service are outstanding. From start to finish, their team was responsive, thorough, and transparent. They took the time to explain the process, kept us updated throughout the project, and made sure every detail was handled with care. The workmanship on both roofs from what we can see exceeded our expectations clean installation. What truly sets Roof Squad apart is their commitment to customer service. They are patient, communicative, and genuinely care about making sure their clients feel comfortable and informed. Even when navigating insurance-related questions, they were professional and solution-oriented. What a fantastic team, Horacio Alex etc If you are looking for a roofing company you can trust, look no further. Roof Squad delivers excellence.

Frequently asked

Is Roof Squad licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no Texas roofer can be state licensed for roofing. The real checks are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, standing with a trade body such as RCAT, and any City of Houston or Harris County registration that applies. Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer.
What does RCAT Member status mean?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas lists Roof Squad as a member company. Membership means the business pays dues and signs the association's code of conduct. It is distinct from RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which is obtained by examination and continuing education. Membership alone is not that credential.
Is Roof Squad BBB accredited?
Yes. The Better Business Bureau lists Roof Squad as an Accredited Business with an A+ rating, accredited since 3 March 2017. The BBB profile records the business as started on 16 August 2016 and names the legal entity as Lockmer Collins Roofing, Inc., which also trades as Roof Repair Squad.
Which manufacturer certifications are verified?
Two, both on the manufacturers' own directories. Owens Corning lists Roof Squad as a Platinum Preferred Contractor, the top tier of its network, which is the level that can register Owens Corning's strongest system warranties. GAF lists the company in its commercial contractor directory at the GoldElite level, which permits the GAF Diamond Pledge NDL guarantee on qualifying low slope roofs.
How long has Roof Squad been in business?
The BBB records the business as started and incorporated in August 2016, and RCAT lists it as a member since 2018. The company's own marketing refers to twenty plus years of experience, which appears to describe the team's cumulative industry experience rather than the age of this business entity. Treat 2016 as the entity start date.
Does Roof Squad handle storm and hail insurance claims?
Yes. The company offers storm damage restoration and insurance paid replacements for hail and wind damage, along with free inspections. Under Texas law a roofing contractor may not act as a public insurance adjuster on the same claim, and may not offer to rebate, waive or absorb your deductible. Any roofer who offers to do so is putting you at risk.
Are impact resistant shingles worth it in the Houston area?
Houston sees less hail than the North Texas hail belt but still takes damaging hail and high wind, and Class 4 impact resistant shingles are tested against a two inch steel ball dropped from twenty feet. Many Texas insurers offer a premium credit for a Class 4 roof. Ask your carrier for the discount amount, and separately ask about wind rating, which often matters more in Harris County.
What areas of Texas does Roof Squad serve?
The company lists Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Cypress, Missouri City, Pearland, Pasadena, Richmond, Tomball, Kingwood, Beaumont and San Antonio. It also operates outside Texas in Louisiana, Colorado and Mississippi, so confirm which crew and which branch will actually be on your roof.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Houston or Harris County?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting is decided locally. The City of Houston, Katy, Pearland, Sugar Land and unincorporated Harris County each set their own reroofing permit and inspection requirements, and rules differ for a reroof versus a full tearoff. Get it in writing that the contractor pulls the permit and meets the inspector.
What should I ask before signing with a Houston roofer?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly by the insurer covering general liability and workers compensation. Get the full scope in writing including shingle line, underlayment, flashing, ventilation and a per sheet price for replacing rotten decking. Confirm which manufacturer warranty the company's certification tier lets it register on your roof, and keep that separate from its own workmanship warranty. Do not pay in full before the work is complete and inspected.
