About
This is the Corpus Christi branch of Port Enterprises, Ltd., trading as Port Roofing. The office sits at 1955 Saratoga Boulevard in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, with its own local telephone and fax line and a separate PO Box for mail. It is one of three Texas offices the company publishes, alongside the Manchaca head office near Austin and a New Braunfels office covering San Antonio.
The company is a commercial roofing and sheet metal contractor rather than a residential shingle firm. Its history page dates the business to a family operation founded in Port Lavaca on the mid coast in 1963, with a move into commercial work in the 1980s and growth in the K-12 and higher education markets from 2000. Published services include commercial roof repair and re-roofing, new construction roofing systems, commercial sheet metal roofing and fabrication, single ply systems, modified bitumen systems, specialty roof coatings, prime contractor services, preventative maintenance programmes, scheduled inspections and annual service contracts. In 2025 the company states it became part of Rampart, a national exterior services platform backed by Huron Capital.
The Corpus Christi location carries manufacturer recognition in its own right. GAF's own commercial contractor directory holds a separate record for Port Enterprises Ltd at the Corpus Christi address, showing certification as an asphaltic roofer and single ply roofer able to offer the GAF Diamond Pledge NDL guarantee on qualifying systems. Polyglass also lists the Corpus Christi address in its Club Premio contractor directory at Preferred Contractor level. On its own site the company additionally states Carlisle Pinnacle, Johns Manville Peak Advantage Summit Club, GAF Gold Elite and CertainTeed Gold Star affiliations.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration
Required in Corpus Christi Check the registry ↗Contractor Registration Program (base registration, IB016) plus STAR Contractor Program (voluntary Bronze/Silver/Gold rating tiers). Registration is required here to pull a roofing permit; we have not confirmed this company's own status, so check it before you sign.
Status Current in the RCAT directory (no published licence number for this record)
RCAT member ID755 (member since 2017)
Licence boardRCAT, Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (Texas issues no state roofing licence; RCAT runs the licensing programme)
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

★☆☆☆☆
I wish there was negative rating available to give this company. Please be aware of this company, they are fraud and run scams. They will promise to do work, and then will put one line in the contract that they don't Warranty/guarantee their work. They know what they are doing, and then have collection agency VERICORE (Sam Banner) to collect on their cheap work which they are well aware off. The vice president of the company Steven Macaulay should be sued for running scams. Please do not work with this company, not only they will not do any work but will have audacity to come and collect money for poor job, and then claim they don't warranty their job. My question is then why are they taking jobs that they cannot FIX in the first place.

Please keep an eye on these people if they frequent your establishment. Do not trust them.

Frequently asked
Does Texas licence roofing contractors at state level?
No. There is no Texas state roofing licence, so no roofer in Nueces County can be state licensed for roofing. The practical checks on commercial work are current general liability and workers compensation certificates, bonding where the contract requires it, manufacturer approvals for the specific system, and city or county permit rules.
What is a WPI-8 and who issues it?
A WPI-8 is the Certificate of Compliance that documents that qualifying construction in one of the 14 Texas first tier coastal counties, Nueces included, meets the windstorm building standards required for Texas Windstorm Insurance Association wind and hail coverage. The roofer builds to the specification and provides documentation, but the certificate itself is issued by the Texas Department of Insurance or by a licensed Texas professional engineer who inspects the work. A contractor cannot issue its own WPI-8.
Does Port Roofing advertise WPI-8 or windstorm certification work?
No WPI-8 or windstorm certification language was found on the company's own website or on any of its directory listings. That does not mean the firm cannot build to windstorm specification, only that the capability is not advertised and has not been confirmed. If a WPI-8 is needed for your building, ask the company directly, in writing, whether it will build to the required specification and coordinate the TDI or engineer inspection.
Why does WPI-8 matter in Corpus Christi specifically?
Nueces County is one of the 14 first tier coastal counties served by TWIA. If qualifying work is done without the required certificate on file, the building can lose eligibility for TWIA wind and hail coverage, and a later wind claim can be denied even where the damage is obvious. Sort the certification path out before work starts, not after.
What does the RCAT status on this listing mean?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas separates two things. Plain membership means the company pays dues and belongs to the association. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately. This listing shows RCAT Member status, which is association membership rather than the earned Licensed credential. Neither is a government licence.
Is the Corpus Christi office a real office or just an address?
It is a working office. Port Roofing publishes 1955 Saratoga Boulevard, Corpus Christi as one of its three Texas locations, with its own local (361) telephone and fax line. GAF's commercial contractor directory holds a separate record for the company at that Corpus Christi address, and Polyglass lists the same address in its own contractor directory. The head office is at Manchaca near Austin.
Is this a residential roofing company?
No. Port Roofing presents itself as a commercial roofing and sheet metal contractor working on commercial, government and institutional buildings. The published systems are single ply, modified bitumen, sheet metal and coatings, plus maintenance programmes, rather than residential shingle replacement.
What is an NDL warranty on a commercial roof?
A no dollar limit warranty is issued by the membrane manufacturer, not by the roofing contractor, and covers repair cost without a monetary cap for the stated term on qualifying systems. Only contractors approved at the right tier can offer them. GAF's directory shows this contractor as able to offer the GAF Diamond Pledge NDL guarantee with a term of up to 25 years on qualifying systems. Get the tier, term and exclusions in writing.
Do I need a permit for a commercial reroof in Corpus Christi?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting and inspection are handled locally. For a building inside Corpus Christi city limits, confirm requirements with the city development services department, and remember that on the coast the permit process and the windstorm certification process are separate steps that both need managing.
What should I check before signing a commercial roofing contract on the coast?
Confirm the exact membrane or metal system and its wind uplift rating for the site, the manufacturer warranty tier and term, who is responsible for windstorm documentation and the WPI-8 inspection where one is required, the permit responsibility, the deck and insulation attachment specification, and the payment schedule. Ask for the insurance certificate directly from the agent or carrier.
