About

Lighthouse Roofing & Exteriors LLC is a Corpus Christi roofing contractor founded by Corpus Christi natives Paul Winzey and Caitlin Winzey, serving the Coastal Bend from an office on South Padre Island Drive in Nueces County. Paul Winzey is listed as managing member on the company's BBB profile. The LLC was incorporated in August 2020 and the company has been BBB Accredited with an A+ rating since May 2021. The published scope is broad for a coastal roofer: asphalt shingle, standing seam metal, stone coated metal, tile and slate, flat roof installation and elastomeric roof coatings, plus roof repairs, replacement, inspections, maintenance, emergency repair, attic and roof ventilation, chimney caps, skylights, siding installation, commercial roofing and gutter installation, repair, maintenance and cleaning. Named service areas run from Corpus Christi out to Gregory, Portland, Rockport, Fulton, Aransas Pass, Ingleside, Port Aransas, Odem, Sinton, Robstown, Alice, Kingsville and Skidmore. The company is BBB Accredited, appears in GAF's own residential and commercial contractor directories, and states GAF Master Elite status and IBHS Fortified participation on its own pages. Nueces County is one of the 14 first tier coastal counties covered by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, so windstorm certification is a live issue for Corpus Christi homeowners. Lighthouse does not advertise WPI-8 or windstorm certification work anywhere on its website, and its hurricane preparedness page links to TWIA only as a general resource, so its WPI-8 capability is not confirmed here. Homeowners should ask any Coastal Bend roofer directly whether the roof will be built to Texas Department of Insurance windstorm standards and who will file the paperwork, and should understand that a roofing contractor never issues the WPI-8 itself.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Called/ searched for a local Roofing company after recent high wind and hail storm. Lighthouse Roofing and Evan Brock came highly recommended by community Facebook group! Evan responded Immediately that he could come out and look. Upon arrival Immediately made me comfortable. Professional; honest, and the highest integrity. A Veteran to top it off!! Inspected roof, came down and patiently explained to my level of understanding the situation and what needed to be done. He came back exactly when he said he would and the quality of the work exceeded my expectations; like it was his own house!!!! Cleaned up, left nothing like he was never there. He took the extra time making sure I was comfortable and understood, as well as just talked with me!! Evan and Lighthouse Roofing commitment, integrity of their work to their customers and neighbors is highly professional and unsurpassed. My highest recommendation. They offer free roof inspections and call you back!! Thank You Evan, thank you very much!

Excellent service from start to finish. We had a small roof leak and some water pooling issues in our yard that had us worried about water eventually getting into the house. They came out, inspected our roof and gutters, and helped us come up with a realistic plan instead of immediately pushing for a full roof replacement like other contractors had. We decided to start small by fixing the leak and cleaning out the gutters, then reevaluate after the next big rain. I really appreciated how well they communicated throughout the entire process and how willing they were to work with us instead of jumping straight to the most extreme and expensive option. We’re still dealing with some of the pooling issues (which we both expected), but now I feel 100% confident moving to the next step with Lighthouse Roofing until our problem is resolved.

Called Lighthouse to come check out a leak in the roof of our house on the island. Evan came out and assessed it within the week. It turned out to be a minor job so he gave me his recommendation and proceeded to help repair it on the spot. Next time it rained, the leak was gone. Awesome service, quick response, and resolved the issue. Would recommend for any other island folks and greater corpus area.

Paul and his team always get the job done right the first time. Evan was no exception. Needed minor repair on roof he came out and took care of it. Thanks Lighthouse Roofing. Hope a storm doesn't come anytime soon but I know who I'll be calling when it does.

They were fair priced, high-quality, offered the best warranty deals, and I got a $250 rebate because I am a veteran. The rebate came in less than 5 days. They were the 1st to respond to my request and come to my property while some took longer yet charged much higher. I highly recommend!

Frequently asked

Does Lighthouse Roofing handle WPI-8 windstorm certification?
Not confirmed. Lighthouse does not advertise WPI-8 or windstorm certification work anywhere on its website, and its hurricane preparedness page mentions TWIA only as a general resource. If windstorm certification matters for your property, ask the company directly before you sign, and get the answer in writing in the contract.
What is a WPI-8 and who actually issues it?
A WPI-8 is the Certificate of Compliance showing that a structure or a specific improvement such as a new roof was built to Texas Department of Insurance windstorm building standards. The roofer builds to the standard and provides documentation, but the roofer never issues the certificate. It is issued by TDI following inspection by a TDI appointed qualified inspector, or on the strength of a Texas licensed professional engineer's certification.
Do I need a WPI-8 in Corpus Christi?
Nueces County is one of the 14 first tier coastal counties in the TWIA territory, so yes, it is relevant here. If you carry or want TWIA wind and hail coverage, TWIA generally requires a valid WPI-8 for construction, alteration or repair work done after the property came into the program. Without it, wind damage claims tied to that work can be denied. Confirm your own situation with TWIA or your agent.
Is Lighthouse Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no Texas roofer holds one. What you can verify is current general liability and workers compensation insurance, standing with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, manufacturer directory listings, and BBB accreditation. Lighthouse has been BBB Accredited with an A+ rating since 2021.
What does the RCAT Member status mean?
It means the company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas and pays dues. RCAT separately awards a Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (RRL, CRL or CRRL) that is earned through testing and documented experience. Lighthouse is carried here as a Member. Neither status is a government licence.
What roofing materials does Lighthouse install?
Its site lists asphalt shingle, standing seam metal, stone coated metal, tile and slate, flat roof systems and elastomeric roof coatings. On the coast, metal and stone coated metal are popular for wind performance, but the fastening detail and the underlayment matter as much as the panel, so ask what is being specified and why.
How far from Corpus Christi does the company work?
The published service area covers Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, Gregory, Portland, Rockport, Fulton, Aransas Pass, Ingleside, Odem, Sinton, Robstown, Alice, Kingsville and Skidmore. That spans Nueces, San Patricio, Aransas, Jim Wells and Kleberg counties, several of which are also TWIA first tier territory.
Do coastal roofs need different permits than inland Texas roofs?
Texas has no statewide building code, so the base permit rules are set by your city or county. On the coast, the windstorm side is layered on top through TDI and TWIA. Ask who is pulling the city permit and, separately, who is handling the windstorm inspection and paperwork if you need it. They are not the same process.
Should Corpus Christi homeowners worry about hail as well as wind?
Hail is the dominant roofing story further north and inland in Texas, but the Coastal Bend still sees it. Class 4 impact resistant shingles can earn an insurance discount from many Texas carriers. Ask your agent whether the discount applies to your policy and whether a Class 4 product still meets the wind requirements for your location.
What should I confirm before signing a Coastal Bend roofing contract?
Full written scope covering decking, underlayment, fastening pattern, flashing, ventilation and disposal. The specific product and its wind rating. Both the manufacturer warranty and the workmanship warranty in years. Certificates of insurance sent directly by the insurer or agent. Who pulls the permit. Whether the work needs a WPI-8 and, if so, exactly who is arranging the inspection. And a payment schedule that is not front loaded.
