About

Pickle Roofing Solutions is a family owned roofing contractor based at 1333 W McDermott Drive, Suite 200, in Allen, Collin County. The company was founded in 2012 by Randy Pickle, who the About page says started it after more than thirty years in roofing and a frustration with impersonal large volume roofing firms. His Better Business Bureau record shows the LLC incorporated on 18 May 2012 with the business starting that June, and the company page names McDowell Pickle as executive vice president. The company says more than half of its work comes from referrals. The service list is unusually broad for a residential roofer and covers roof replacement, roof repair, roof installation, roof inspections, emergency roofing, attic and vent installation, gutters, and shingle, metal, tile, clay barrel, slate and flat roofing, along with Tesla Solar Roofing. Published service areas across the northern Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs are Allen, Carrollton, Dallas, Fairview, Frisco, Garland, McKinney, Murphy, Plano, Prosper, Richardson and Wylie. The site states that manufacturer warranties on materials run from twenty to fifty years depending on product and that installation workmanship carries separate cover typically extending ten years. Credentials here are stronger than most. GAF's own contractor directory lists Pickle Roofing Solutions LLC of Allen as a Master Elite contractor in both its residential and commercial listings, the tier that qualifies a roof for GAF's best warranties. The Better Business Bureau records the company as an Accredited Business since 31 July 2012 with an A+ rating at the time of review. Texas issues no state roofing licence, so those credentials plus the RCAT record for this listing and the company's own insurance are what a homeowner can actually check.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0416 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I use Pickle Roofing Solutions as both a property manager and for my own home. McDowell and his team are professional, timely, and offer long term solutions rather than quick fixes. (Although, they are fast!) i truly feel like they care about the quality and long term goals of the communities i work with and work with them to achieve the best possible results. 10/10 recommend, whether you need them for commercial use or personal use, you can’t go wrong by hiring these guys.

I had a major issue with a roof leak that started a couple of months ago, stopped, and then unfortunately started up again this past week. When my HOA wasn’t responding to the situation, I decided to take matters into my own hands and contacted Pickle Roofing directly—and I am so glad I did. I cannot say enough good things about Barbara. She is the only reason my roof is repaired today. When the initial team didn't show up as scheduled, she immediately took action. She personally followed up to ensure a technician was on-site by 6:00 PM that evening to get the job done. The two gentlemen she sent over were absolutely amazing; they were professional, efficient, and clearly very skilled. I am so sorry that I didn’t catch their names, but I want to commend them both for their hard work. Barbara told me they were the best on her team, and she was absolutely right. If you are dealing with roofing issues, I highly recommend calling Pickle Roofing and asking for Barbara. She truly cares about getting the job done right. Thank you to Barbara and the wonderful crew for saving the day. Kudos to you all!!

I can’t say enough good things about Pickle Roofing Solutions. I was lost in the process of replacing our roof (not a native Texan) and they helped me sort everything out. They also did great work. Roof looks great and they cleaned up very well. My patio was cleaner after they left than before.

I called Pickle roofing to get an estimate to replace my patio cover that had been damaged from the hail. It was great to talk directly with the owner, McDowell Pickle instead of a receptionist that you typically get when you go through a large company. The roofing job was completed today and I have to say the crew that was sent out was top notch. Carlos and George did a wonderful job. They were very very professional. And I was so pleased with the cleanup afterwards. Nothing is worse than having to clean up after a work crew has left your home. I highly highly recommend Pickle roofing.

The people at Pickle Roofing were great to deal with across the board. However, the quality of work and attention to detail of the sub contractors was poor. They did not properly cover our yard or mulched areas, resulting in excessive amounts of nails going into those areas. Then they were very lazy in their cleanup and use of the magnet to pickup the nails. The attached photo shows the nails I personally picked up using the drip edge sub contractor's magnet. This DOES NOT include the 50 or so nails I picked up by hand the day the roofers finished. They also used the wrong size nails on our back patio roof, causing damage to the tongue and groove underside. They had to replace all of that material as a result. Then the patio stain contractor that Pickle sent out was not able to cover some spots, allegedly because Pickle purchased cheap tongue and groove decking that had excessive amounts of artificial wood filler. See attached photos. Pickle was supposedly planning to leave most of our old drip edge on the house and did not explain that to us ahead of time. So there were a lot of extra trips and coordination needed to remove and replace the drip edge and gutters. I trust Pickle has good intentions and I have no doubt they provide much better service and oversight of their subs on most jobs. Unfortunately, that was not our experience and we most likely would not use Pickle again.

Frequently asked

What does the RCAT status on this listing mean?
Pickle Roofing Solutions is recorded with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas as holding its Licensed Roofing Contractor credential for commercial and residential roofing. That credential is earned through RCAT examination and continuing education and sits above ordinary RCAT membership. It is an industry credential, not a state government licence.
Does Texas issue a state roofing licence?
No. Texas has no state roofing contractor licence, so nobody in Allen or anywhere else in Texas can be state licensed for roofing. What you can verify is insurance, voluntary credentials such as RCAT's licensed programme, manufacturer certifications, BBB accreditation, and any city registration the job requires.
What is GAF Master Elite and how do I check it?
Master Elite is GAF's top contractor tier and it is what allows a contractor to register GAF's strongest system warranties. Do not take it on trust from a contractor's own website. Search the company on GAF's own contractor locator at gaf.com; Pickle Roofing Solutions LLC of Allen appears there in both the residential and commercial directories.
Is Pickle Roofing Solutions BBB accredited?
Yes. The Better Business Bureau lists Pickle Roofing Solutions, LLC as an Accredited Business since 31 July 2012, with an A+ rating at the time of review. The BBB record gives the incorporation date of 18 May 2012 and names Randy Pickle as principal.
Why is hail such a big deal in Allen and Collin County?
Allen, Plano, McKinney and Frisco sit in the North Texas corridor often called Hail Alley, where spring storms regularly drop hail large enough to bruise asphalt shingles. Hail, not wind or age, is the most common reason roofs get replaced here. Allen is inland, so Gulf Coast windstorm certificates do not apply.
Should I upgrade to Class 4 impact resistant shingles?
Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 impact test and is designed to hold up better to hail. Many Texas insurers give a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, which can offset part of the upgrade cost over time. Ask for the exact Class 4 product on the written quote and confirm the discount with your insurer before you commit.
What warranties come with a new roof from this company?
The company's site states that manufacturer warranties cover material defects for periods ranging from twenty to fifty years depending on the product, and that installation workmanship carries separate warranty protection typically extending ten years. Ask for both warranty documents in writing and check whether the manufacturer warranty is registered in your name after completion.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Allen, Texas?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting is handled city by city. Allen and the surrounding Collin County cities generally require a permit for a full roof replacement. Confirm the permit was pulled under the contractor's information and that the final inspection passed before releasing final payment.
How does an insurance hail claim usually work?
You report the damage to your own insurer, an adjuster inspects, and the insurer issues a scope and payment less your deductible. A roofer can document damage and attend the adjuster meeting, but the contract remains between you and the insurer. Walk away from anyone who offers to cover, absorb or eat your deductible, which is not permitted in Texas.
What should I ask before signing with any North Texas roofer?
Ask for a certificate of insurance emailed directly by the agent, the manufacturer and product name of the shingle in writing, how many layers are being torn off, the per sheet price for replacing rotten decking, the length and terms of the workmanship warranty, who pulls the permit, and the payment schedule. Never pay the full amount before work starts.
