About

Blue Angel Roofing & General Contractors is a family owned, veteran owned roofing and general contracting company based at 450 Century Parkway Suite 250 in Allen, Collin County. BBB records date the business to 19 August 2021, and the company has been a BBB Accredited Business since 21 February 2022 with an A+ rating. Founder Philip Gano started out roofing close to home, and the company grew from there into a broader exterior contracting business serving the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. The company covers residential and commercial roofing, including roof replacement, repair, maintenance, and inspections, plus multi family and commercial work. Beyond the roof it handles gutters, siding, masonry, painting, windows, garage doors, fencing, and solar panel installation through a Trojan Solar partnership. Its shingle work centres on IKO lines including Dynasty, Armourshake, and Royal Estate, and the company is listed on IKO's own Contractor Finder directory, which makes that manufacturer relationship checkable at the source. Allen sits in the North Texas hail belt, so Class 4 impact resistant shingles and hail insurance claims are the everyday work here rather than any coastal windstorm requirement. The company was awarded the Golden Hammer Award for Outstanding Residential Project in 2022, and it describes itself on its own site as a member of both RCAT and the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0557 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Blue Angel Roofing was great from the beginning to the end. Phil and Eddis walked me through the inspection, the insurance claim and all the questions that I had while the roof was being installed. I had concerns about inadequate ventilation and they addressed it and I changed the color of my roof at the last minute and the took care of that for me too! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to friends or family, they did a great job! Thank you Phil, Eddis and the crew at Blue Angel Roofing

Chase Williams from Blue Angel Roofing did an excellent job of working with our insurance company to accept the claim on our roof. We have lived in our home for 18 years and finally the age of our roof and weather events warranted its replacement. The roofing crew did an excellent job and we got a good deal for roofing upgrades. Another crew put 2 coats of paint on our fence which makes it look like it’s new. Thanks to Angel Roofing and Chase for a job well done.

Blue Angel Roofing and General Contractors did an outstanding job from start to finish. Their team was professional, responsive, and incredibly easy to work with. They walked me through every step of the process, answered all my questions, and made sure I understood exactly what was being done. The crew showed up on time, worked efficiently, and left everything clean when they were done.

Blue Angel, roofing it’s just amazing. We interviewed many roofers and decided to go with Blue Angel, and we are so happy they are professional kind courteous they do great work and if you need your roof done, you should call them and talk to them. They work with you. They’re very clean they clean up their mess once they are finished and they come back and check on you and on the work again you need your roof done. Try them. He won’t be sorry.

Frequently asked

Is Blue Angel Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofer is. Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so there is no such thing as a state licensed Texas roofer. What you can verify is insurance, RCAT status, the BBB record (A+ and accredited since February 2022 in this case), and any City of Allen or Collin County registration attached to the permit.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
RCAT Membership is a dues based trade association membership open to any company. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL, or CRL) is earned separately through RCAT's own experience and examination requirements. Blue Angel's own website describes the company as an RCAT member, so ask which specific status applies to your job.
How long has Blue Angel Roofing been in business?
BBB records show the business started on 19 August 2021 and became a BBB Accredited Business on 21 February 2022. It is a relatively young company by North Texas standards, which is worth weighing against the length of the workmanship warranty you are offered.
Does Blue Angel work outside Allen?
Yes. The company describes itself as serving the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex and North Texas from its Allen headquarters at 450 Century Parkway Suite 250.
What shingles does the company install?
Its site highlights IKO shingle lines including Dynasty, Armourshake, and Royal Estate, and the company appears on IKO's own Contractor Finder. It also references CertainTeed and GAF products, plus metal, tile, and flat commercial systems.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Allen and Collin County?
Collin County sits in the North Texas hail belt, so Class 4 is the upgrade most often worth pricing here. Class 4 is the top rating under the UL 2218 steel ball impact test. Ask for the specific product's Class 4 certificate in writing, since not every line within a brand qualifies.
Will an impact resistant roof lower my insurance premium?
Many Texas carriers offer an impact resistant roof discount, but the amount and the qualifying products vary by carrier. Confirm the discount with your agent before choosing the shingle, and keep the manufacturer's UL 2218 certificate with your policy paperwork.
Does the coastal windstorm rule (WPI-8 or TWIA) apply in Allen?
No. WPI-8 inspections and TWIA windstorm coverage apply only in the first tier Gulf Coast counties. Collin County is inland, so hail performance, ventilation, and flashing detail are what matter on a roof here.
Who issues the roofing permit for an Allen re-roof?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so permitting and inspection are handled locally. For a home inside the city limits that is the City of Allen. Confirm in writing whether the contractor or the homeowner is pulling the permit before tear off starts.
What should I check before signing a North Texas roofing contract?
Ask for general liability and workers compensation certificates sent directly by the insurer or agent, a written scope including underlayment, decking replacement rate, and flashing, who pulls the permit, the workmanship warranty length and who backs it, whether crews are employees or subcontractors, and written confirmation of the shingle line and its impact rating.
