About

Phoenix Exteriors, Inc is a family owned residential and commercial exterior contractor with its Central Texas office at 555 Round Rock West Drive in Round Rock, Williamson County. The RCAT directory record for this listing names Eric Stanis as the contact, and the Better Business Bureau profile lists Eric R Stanis as president, Melinda Stanis as secretary and Cara Rojas as director of operations. The BBB record shows the business starting on 1 February 2008 and lists two Texas offices, Round Rock and San Antonio. The company works across roofing, gutters, siding and windows, and it has built a second line of business around solar. Its website presents the brand as Phoenix Exteriors and Solar, promotes itself as a certified Tesla installer for Solar Roof, solar panels, Powerwall battery backup and Level 2 EV wall connectors, and names Malarkey, Euroshield, premium shake products and Velux skylights among the materials it installs. Public listings for the Round Rock office describe asphalt and flat roofs alongside metal, tile, shake and slate. The wider company operates in Illinois, Tennessee and Texas, with Austin and San Antonio as its two Texas markets. Texas issues no state roofing licence, so the checkable credentials here are the RCAT membership recorded against this listing, the company's own insurance, and any city registration required for the job. The company is not a BBB Accredited Business, though its BBB profile carried an A+ rating at the time of review. The Tesla installer certification is a company statement and was not confirmed on a manufacturer operated directory.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We used Phoenix four years ago and had a great experience. But last year we had some hail damage so we need repair, and they have simply ghosted us. We have called repeatedly and no one responds. I would never use them again.

The whole process could not have run smoother. Tyler was extremely thorough in his presentation and estimate was spot on. Pete was on top of each step during and after the project concluded. The roofing team performed above and beyond my expectations. The Malarkey® Shingles were the right choice and look great too. Thank you so much for a quick and easy experience. You can not go wrong choosing Phoenix Exteriors for your new roof.

Phoenix went above and beyond fighting our insurance to get us our roof replaced, they really documented the damage well and went to bat for us when they tried to deny us. The workers wer super professional, on time, very fast, and they left my yard cleaner than it was before they came. We are extremely pleased with everything they’ve done for us… and the new roof is gorgeous 😄

I am editing my review because after a few years they really made some improvments and Nicole has made a BIG difference! They customer service after installation is great! Sadly we chose this company to do our entire roof because their sales rep was great, unfortunately our installation didn’t represent the service we got from the company. The crew that came that morning had no one in charge or a foreman on site. We had a leak that took them one month to fixed and we had to cover all costs to get our room back to normal, we had to replace the wall, insulation and paint because their crew didn’t care to show up or look properly at the problem. The admin staff is great but when it comes to the actual job I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Phoenix Exteriors for anyone needing roof work. Dakota and his team had made the entire process exceptionally easy, from when Tyler first knocked on my door all the way through the production process. Pete did an amazing job managing the production team throughout the process. The guys had kept me informed of everything and did a great job of educating me the entire time. They were able to get my entire roof replaced through my insurance at no cost to me, CRAZY!! It looks amazing, and I had been able to pick out all the details- the shingles, color, etc. that had best fit my home! I would not hesitate to use Phoenix for any of my other properties in the future! 5 Stars + great customer service and overall experience!!

Frequently asked

Does Texas licence roofing contractors at state level?
No. There is no Texas state roofing licence. Any roofer describing itself as state licensed for roofing is describing something that does not exist. Verify insurance, check voluntary credentials such as RCAT status, and confirm whatever registration the city requires for the work.
What does the RCAT status on this listing mean?
Phoenix Exteriors is recorded with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas as a Member, which means it belongs to the state trade association. That is separate from RCAT's earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires examination and continuing education. Membership and the licensed credential are not interchangeable.
Is Phoenix Exteriors BBB accredited?
No. Its Better Business Bureau profile states it is not a BBB Accredited Business, although the profile carried an A+ rating at the time of review. The BBB record also lists two Texas offices, Round Rock and San Antonio, and gives a business start date of 1 February 2008.
Does hail affect roofs in the Round Rock and Austin area?
Yes. Williamson and Travis counties sit on the southern edge of the hail belt that runs through Central and North Texas, and severe spring storms regularly produce hail large enough to bruise asphalt shingles. Round Rock is inland, so windstorm certificates for the Gulf Coast do not apply here, but hail claims are common.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Central Texas?
Often yes. Class 4 is the highest rating in the UL 2218 impact test and many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof. Ask the roofer to name the exact Class 4 product on the quote and confirm the discount with your own insurer in writing before paying for the upgrade.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in Round Rock?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so this is decided city by city. Round Rock and neighbouring Williamson County cities generally require a permit for a full reroof. Ask who is pulling the permit, confirm it was issued under the contractor's details, and wait for the final inspection before releasing final payment.
The company also sells solar. Does that change how I should evaluate the roof work?
It adds questions rather than replacing them. Ask whether the roof and solar are one contract or two, who warranties penetrations through the roof deck, what happens to the solar warranty if the roof is later replaced, and get the roofing workmanship warranty in writing separately from any solar production estimate.
How do I verify a contractor's insurance?
Ask for a certificate of insurance showing general liability and workers compensation, and ask that it be emailed to you directly by the insurance agent rather than forwarded by the contractor. Confirm the policy is current on the date your work is scheduled and that your address appears in the description of operations if the insurer allows it.
Which Texas areas does this office cover?
The Round Rock office serves Austin and Central Texas. The company also runs a San Antonio office, and outside Texas it operates in Illinois and Tennessee. Confirm directly that your specific address falls inside the Round Rock crew's working area before scheduling.
What should I get in writing before work starts?
The full contract price and what triggers any change order, the manufacturer and product line of the shingle or panel, the number of layers being torn off, decking replacement pricing per sheet, the length and terms of the workmanship warranty, the permit responsibility, and the payment schedule. Never pay the full amount up front, and be wary of any offer to absorb or waive your insurance deductible.
