Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0469 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I had 3 downspouts added to my existing gutter system and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The crew was very experienced, professional, and did a thorough job. The pricing was very competitive compared to other companies I considered. I highly recommend them.

New roof was very professional and very proficient in howthey put the contract together. Did the work did the inspections dicd the walk-throughs brought the material and worked with their subcontractors to ensure a good job was done and always were aware of what was going on and had a representative onsite from beginning to finish and I appreciate it. The attention to detail that they gave me and gave my roof and answered my questions that I had which was continuously asking questions cuz I was agreeing about this kind of work and they walked me through it and they showed me exactly what was going to happen when it was going to happen and how it was going to happen. And in particular, Justin and James and Stephen, which I met from the initial meeting were there and were very smart about what they did and how they did it and it looked like a really a well oiled machine, a well run kind of organization that they synch with each other and they answer each other's questions. That's how good they are and I appreciate them and I want to give them out the utmost respect for their work and their dedication to me and to my house and to my project Get Outlook for Android IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER TO ALL CUSTOMERS, INSURERS, AGENTS OF INSURERS, ADJUSTERS & ENGINEERS: Any communication regarding an insurance claim is intended to address price and scope only. NewRuf went over the top to give exceptional service! I called at 4:45pm in the evening and they had someone to my house in 30 minutes to help me get a quote put together. They had the work done within 2 days of us signing the contract. Truly fabulous experience!

Blake at New Ruf came out on short notice to inspect my clients roof that New Ruf had installed the year prior. He went the extra mile to seal the few exposed fasteners and few loose shingles following the recent storm that had turned up in the Buyers inspection at no expense to the owner. He was polite, professional, knowledgeable and efficient. I would definitely recommend Blake Howe and New Ruf to family, friends and clients in the future.

Frequently asked

How is the brand actually spelled?
The company's own website styles the brand as New Ruf with an umlaut over the u. The registered legal entity and the BBB and RCAT records use NewRuf, LLC as one word with no umlaut, and the GAF directory lists it both as New Ruf LLC and as NewRuf Roofing and Restoration. The domain is newruf.com. All of these refer to the same Round Rock company.
What does GAF Master Elite actually get a homeowner?
Master Elite is GAF's top residential contractor tier and GAF caps how many contractors hold it in a given area. The practical benefit is warranty access: only Master Elite contractors can offer the GAF Golden Pledge limited warranty, which extends coverage to workmanship as well as materials. Ask specifically which GAF warranty will be registered on your job and get the registration confirmation afterwards.
Does Texas issue a state roofing licence?
No. Texas has no state roofing licence and no state roofing regulator, so nobody roofing in Round Rock is state licensed. What you can verify is insurance, city registration where it applies, manufacturer directory listings such as GAF's, BBB standing, and trade association credentials.
What does the RCAT Licensed status mean?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas runs a Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) that is earned separately from paying membership dues. Requirements include a minimum number of years in business, liability and workers compensation insurance, BBB good standing, passing residential and commercial exams, and annual continuing education. It is a trade association credential, not a government licence.
Is Central Texas hail country?
Yes. Williamson and Travis counties sit in the broader Texas hail belt and take damaging hail most springs. That drives two decisions: whether to upgrade to Class 4 impact resistant shingles, and how your policy handles wind and hail. Ask your insurer what premium discount a Class 4 roof earns before you commit to a product.
What is a Class 4 impact resistant shingle?
Class 4 is the highest rating under the UL 2218 impact test, where a steel ball is dropped on the shingle from a set height without cracking the mat. Class 4 shingles resist hail bruising better than standard shingles. They cost more up front, and many Texas carriers offset part of that with a premium credit.
Is WPI-8 windstorm certification relevant in Round Rock?
No. WPI-8 certificates and the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association apply only to the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties and designated parts of Harris County. Williamson County is inland and outside that catastrophe area, so no WPI-8 is involved in a Round Rock reroof.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Round Rock?
Texas has no single statewide residential building code enforcement, so permitting is handled city by city. Round Rock, Austin, Georgetown, Cedar Park and Pflugerville each set their own reroof permit and inspection rules. Ask your contractor in writing who pulls the permit and confirm the final inspection is recorded, because it matters at resale.
What is HAAG certification and why does it come up on storm jobs?
HAAG Engineering trains and certifies inspectors in assessing roof damage, particularly hail and wind. A HAAG certified inspector is trained to distinguish genuine storm damage from ordinary wear, blistering or manufacturing defects. It matters on an insurance claim because it means the person writing the damage report is using a recognised methodology rather than an opinion.
What should I ask before signing with any Central Texas roofer?
Ask for a certificate of insurance emailed by the insurance agent covering general liability and workers compensation, the exact product and colour, the underlayment, flashing, drip edge and ventilation spec, whether rotten decking is included or charged per sheet, who pulls the permit, the workmanship warranty in years and what voids it, which manufacturer warranty is being registered, and the payment schedule. Never pay in full up front.
