About

NWC General Construction operates from 1701 W Northwest Highway, Suite 100 in Grapevine, Tarrant County, and also keeps an Austin office at 13785 Research Boulevard. The company trades under the alternate name Northwest Custom LLC and markets itself as NWC Roofing. It has been family owned and operated by the Turner family since 1979, and the BBB record shows an establishment date of 8 November 1979 with the current entity incorporated in October 2012. Ryan Turner is listed as CEO on the BBB record and appears in the RCAT directory holding the CRRL credential. The business is a storm restoration general contractor rather than a roofing only outfit. Alongside roof replacement, repair and inspection it handles gutters, siding, windows, exterior painting, garage doors and fencing, which lets it take on a whole hail damaged property instead of just the roof. On the roofing side it works with three tab and architectural asphalt shingles, metal, tile and slate, and flat roof systems, and it notes that architectural shingles are typically rated for higher wind speeds than three tab. NWC General Construction is listed in GAF's own residential roofing contractor directory and states it is a GAF Factory Certified Master Elite installer with President's Club recognition, which is the credential behind the GAF Golden Pledge warranty it advertises. It has been a BBB Accredited Business with an A plus rating since November 2012 and holds the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential. Its published Texas service list runs across the DFW Metroplex and out to Austin, Waco, the Killeen and Temple area and Lubbock.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0230 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I had a huge tree belonging to my next door neighbor fall over and punch through my roof, breaking the roof peak and several rafters. A tree removal company removed the tree the next day. NWC showed up the next day and laid down the waterproof felt material that is normally placed between the shingles and the roof deck. Brandon Fowler, who was in charge of my repair, worked tirelessly and steadfastly with my insurance company to get all the money required to do the job properly. The insurance company only wanted to patch the repair areas with new shingles. Of course, with all of the ridges and gables, that couldn’t really be done without compromising the undamaged roof. Brandon stayed on the insurance company, having the adjuster come out to the house for repeated inspections. The end result, the insurance company ‘s adjuster finally agreed with all of the NWC repair estimate, and after all the internal damage repair, I have a complete roof. It looks great! That was all Brandon’s doing! I had to have very little contact with the insurance company. I would definitely hire them again!

Brandon from NWC General Construction was excellent partner in dealing with an insurance company who multiple times denied my roof, gutters, garage door and chimney cap hail damage claim. Brandon (not my insurance company) shared the insurance company’s 2 step escalation process which was ultimately ruled by the final umpire in my complete favor. To accomplish this, Brandon obtained an independent appraiser to represent us who was excellent and confirmed the accuracy of Brandon’s initial damage assessment. Though the insurance company denied again, through Brandon’s guidance and his independent appraiser’s confirmation of the damage, we ultimately went to a final umpire who ruled completely in our favor requiring the insurance company to pay. I couldn’t be more pleased with this ruling since future claims will be under a 2% deductible instead of this claim’s 1% deductible. Brandon was extremely professional and kept me updated at every turn in the lengthy escalation process. Once the claim was successful, NWC did an excellent job in reroofing my class 4 shingles. They also pointed out venting issues with my last roofer’s work and corrected it. Brandon was involved during all aspects of the work. The replaced gutters and large custom chimney cap were quality improvements upon the existing items. I chose to upgrade my garage door to an insulated door and was extremely pleased with the product and workmanship. As a do-it-yourselfer, I appreciated Brandon working with me so that I could review all of the products we used. I found NWC services and partner services to be top notch. I will look for Brandon and NWC at our next Texas hailstorm.

Our experience with Brandon was simply perfection from beginning to end!! He performed a thorough inspection of our roof and surrounding structures, not omitting a single item that required attention. He kept us in the know every step of the way, from dealing with our insurance company to every phase of the construction process. We couldn’t be happier with our new roof and the service we received from Brandon!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Brandon and his team at NCW for a complete roof replacement, along with several other repairs. From the outset, Brandon demonstrated a remarkable dedication to his work. He diligently coordinated with my insurance company to ensure we received the necessary funding to cover the entire roof replacement, which alleviated a significant amount of stress on my end. The quality of workmanship delivered by Brandon and his crew was exceptional. They approached the project with professionalism, efficiency, and a keen attention to detail. I was particularly impressed with how smoothly everything went; there were no issues or delays, which speaks volumes about their expertise and organization. Overall, my experience with NCW has been fantastic. Brandon's commitment to customer satisfaction and his thorough knowledge of the roofing process made the entire experience straightforward and hassle-free. I highly recommend NCW to anyone in need of roofing service or general home projects. They are a trusted company that stands out for their reliability and high-quality work. Thank you, Brandon and team, for a job well done!

NWC General Construction and Jessy Milburn did an outstanding job with my roof replacement.  I had previously worked with another roofing contractor who said my roof had damage, and needed replacing.  However the resulting claim led to a zero payout claim with my insurance, and the contractor was no help.  Fast forward 8-10 months later NWC came out and thoroughly inspected my home resulting in a 60+ page write up supported by pictures.  Their diligence resulted in my insurance more than quadrupling their initial payout.  NWC replaced, my roof(better quality than original), relaced my gutters(better than original), repainted all the exposed natural wood inlayed in the brick, fixed interior leak damage, etc...  But best of all was the prep work they did covering my yard\pool, and the areas of my neighbors yard that could be impacted, by roofing nails, and shingles.  They brought an overwhelming amount of very professional crew members on the day they replaced the roof, I counted 20.  The shear number of people ensured it was a one day roof replacement.  The gutters, exterior/interior paint work, and clean up were all completed 2 days later.  Now that the job is done, and I’ve had a chance to inspect the work, its great and I’m so happy I choose NWC.  I would highly recommend NWC General Construction to any of my friends and family in need of a roof replacement.

Frequently asked

Is NWC General Construction licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not license roofing contractors at the state level, so no Texas roofer holds a state roofing licence. NWC does hold the voluntary RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, with Ryan Turner shown as CRRL in the RCAT directory. Alongside that, ask for current general liability and workers compensation certificates before work starts.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and RCAT Licensed?
Membership in the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas means the company pays dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through experience and examination requirements. NWC General Construction shows the Licensed credential, which is the stronger of the two.
Is the GAF Master Elite claim verifiable?
NWC General Construction has a live contractor profile in GAF's own residential roofing contractor directory for Grapevine, Texas. The Master Elite and President's Club tier is stated by the company on its own website. The practical test is the warranty: only Master Elite contractors can register the GAF Golden Pledge Limited Warranty, so ask for the Golden Pledge registration in writing on your job if that is what you are buying.
How long has the company been in business?
The BBB record shows the business established on 8 November 1979, with the current legal entity incorporated on 10 October 2012 under the alternate name Northwest Custom LLC. The company's own about page says it has been family owned and operated by the Turner family since 1979.
Does the company only do roofing?
No. It works as a storm restoration general contractor, covering roofing, gutters, painting, windows, siding, garage doors, fencing and general restoration. That is useful after a hail event, because a single contract can cover the roof, the gutters, the screens and the painted trim rather than three separate trades.
The DFW hail season is brutal. Are Class 4 shingles worth it?
Tarrant, Dallas and Denton counties sit in the heart of the Texas hail corridor. A UL 2218 Class 4 impact rated shingle is the top impact class and most Texas carriers offer a premium credit for one. Ask for a Class 4 option priced alongside the standard quote, and confirm the discount with your insurer in writing before you commit.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Grapevine?
Texas has no statewide residential building code enforcement, so re-roof permits and inspections are set by each city and county. Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville, Keller and Fort Worth each run their own building inspection departments with their own rules. Confirm with the city and make sure the contract puts the permit on the contractor.
What warranty comes with the roof?
Two different warranties apply. The manufacturer warranty covers the materials and, on enhanced GAF system warranties such as Golden Pledge, the workmanship as well. The contractor workmanship warranty covers the install itself. Get both in writing, with the exact GAF warranty name and term, and check what registration or system components are required to qualify.
Which parts of Texas does NWC General Construction cover?
The company's published service area list runs across the DFW Metroplex including Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville, Keller, Fort Worth, Arlington, Dallas, Plano, Frisco and McKinney, and extends to the Austin area, Waco, the Killeen and Temple corridor and Lubbock.
What should I ask before signing after a hail storm?
Ask for insurance certificates direct from the insurer, a written scope with a unit price for replacing rotten decking, the ventilation and flashing plan, the exact manufacturer warranty name, who pulls the permit, and whether crews are in-house or subcontracted. Do not sign anything that assigns your insurance benefits or ties you to a contractor before the claim is settled, and remember that only a licensed public adjuster may negotiate the claim for you.
