About

Moeller Roofing & Construction is a West Texas roofing contractor serving Lubbock and the surrounding South Plains from a base at 13405 County Road 1600, Suite 8, in Wolfforth, Lubbock County. The company says it was founded in 2015 with, in its own words, a truck, a ladder and a commitment to quality, and it remains family owned and operated. The Better Business Bureau record supports the timeline, listing the business as starting on 8 October 2015 and incorporating in December 2019, with Kyle Moeller as president. The work covers residential roof repair and leak detection, complete roof replacements, commercial flat and low-slope installation, hail and wind damage repair, emergency temporary covering after storms, roof maintenance and inspections, flashing repair, gutter installation, replacement and cleaning, skylight installation and repair, and emergency tree damage removal. Materials span shingle, metal and tile roofing on the residential side and TPO, EPDM and PVC membrane systems on the commercial side, along with cool roof and green roofing options. Published hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 24/7 emergency response. On credentials, the company is accredited by the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating and has held accreditation since 24 June 2020, one of the longer BBB tenures among Lubbock area roofers. It appears in the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce member directory and holds RCAT Licensed status. No manufacturer certification from GAF, Owens Corning or CertainTeed was found on any manufacturer's own contractor directory. Texas has no state roofing licence, so ask for current insurance certificates issued directly by the insurer before you sign anything.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0606 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Battling the aftermath of last year's large hailstorm seemed a daunting task. However, Kyle and Amanda made everything easy for me, from lining up the various contractors to communicating with the insurance company. They are kind, helpful, and knowledgeable, and I highly recommend Moeller Roofing and Construction.

The picture doesn’t due justice on how great our new roof looks! We were very impressed on how beautifully our roof turned out. Kyle answered all our questions professionally. The crew that came out to install the roof was very polite and professional. We were very impressed at the cleanup job they did after the roof was installed. If you’re looking for a new roof you can’t beat the workmanship. If we could give Moeller Roofing 10 stars, we would!

The Moeller roofing company was terrific! They came out and assessed our roof and put a lot of time contacting and writing our insurance company with the information needed so we could get it done! All the employees were professional and polite to us. After installation they cleaned up our property where it was immaculate. The office staff was very professional and super friendly. She answered our questions and if she didn’t know referred us to the owner Kyle. Moeller roofing is a team effort all working on the same page to take care of their customers. We also had them come out to redo our chimney because it was also damaged in the storm. What a great job they did replacing and painting it! Overall thank you so much Moeller roofing for the quality work you all do!

sign on door No solicitation... Still got their flyer over my no solicitation sign. So clearly if this company can't take directions why would I trust them to do work.

Frequently asked

Is Moeller Roofing & Construction licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor licence, so no Texas roofer holds one. This company does hold RCAT Licensed status, which is a voluntary industry credential earned through the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas rather than a government licence. Alongside that, verify current general liability and workers compensation certificates directly with the insurance agent.
What does RCAT Licensed mean and how is it different from RCAT Member?
This matters and the two are routinely confused. RCAT Member simply means a company pays dues and belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor (the CRRL, RRL or CRL credential) is earned separately through examination and documented experience requirements. Moeller Roofing carries the Licensed status, which is the higher of the two RCAT designations. It is still an industry credential, not a state licence.
Is Lubbock a hail risk area?
Yes. The Texas South Plains sits in a very active severe weather corridor and Lubbock County regularly sees large hail, damaging straight-line winds and occasional tornadoes during spring and early summer. Hail is the dominant driver of roof claims in this region. It is worth asking about Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, which hold the top grade in the UL 2218 impact test and typically earn an insurance premium discount in Texas.
Do Lubbock roofs need a WPI-8 windstorm certificate?
No. WPI-8 certificates are a Texas Windstorm Insurance Association requirement that applies to the 14 first-tier Gulf Coast counties. Lubbock County is in the Panhandle and South Plains region, hundreds of miles from the coast, so WPI-8 has no bearing here. Wind performance still matters in West Texas, but it is handled through shingle wind ratings and correct fastening, not through coastal certification.
Who pulls the permit for a roof replacement in Lubbock?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so this varies by jurisdiction. Inside Lubbock city limits, the city's building inspection department handles roofing permits. Wolfforth is a separate incorporated city with its own requirements, and addresses in unincorporated Lubbock County follow county rules. Confirm which jurisdiction your property is in and get the permit responsibility written into the contract.
Does this company hold a GAF, Owens Corning or CertainTeed certification?
No manufacturer certification for this company was found on GAF's, Owens Corning's or CertainTeed's own contractor directories. The company does install shingle, metal, tile and membrane systems. If you specifically want a manufacturer-backed enhanced system warranty such as a GAF Golden Pledge or an Owens Corning platinum-level warranty, ask which manufacturer programmes the company is currently enrolled in and confirm it on that manufacturer's own website.
How long has the company been in business?
The company states it was founded in 2015, and the Better Business Bureau record backs that with a business start date of 8 October 2015 and incorporation on 16 December 2019. BBB accreditation has been continuous since June 2020. That gives roughly a decade of trading history in the Lubbock market, which is long enough to check references from several storm seasons rather than just one.
What is the difference between a manufacturer warranty and a workmanship warranty?
A manufacturer warranty covers defects in the roofing materials themselves and comes from the shingle or membrane maker. A workmanship warranty comes from the roofer and covers installation error. Most roof failures come from installation, not defective product, so the workmanship warranty is usually the more consequential document. Ask for both in writing, and ask specifically what voids each one.
How should I handle a hail insurance claim in West Texas?
Report the loss to your carrier promptly, since Texas policies carry deadlines. A contractor can attend the adjuster inspection, photograph damage slope by slope and provide their own scope, which often catches missed items. What a contractor cannot legally do is negotiate the claim on your behalf without a Texas public adjuster licence. And a contractor may not waive, rebate or absorb your deductible under Texas law, so decline any offer framed that way.
What should I ask before signing with a Lubbock roofer?
Get general liability and workers compensation certificates emailed to you by the insurance agent rather than handed over by the salesperson. Ask whether crews are employees or subcontractors and who carries their cover. Insist the estimate itemises underlayment, ventilation, flashing, drip edge and fastener pattern, not just a shingle name. Get the workmanship warranty term and exclusions in writing. Confirm who pulls the permit. And be wary of any storm-chasing outfit that appears after a hail event with no local address you can visit.
