About

Lone Star Roofing & Construction, Inc. is a San Antonio general contractor working out of 4733 Whirlwind Drive, San Antonio, TX 78217, on (210) 637-7663. Beyond roofing the company works as a broader contractor, handling gutters, siding, windows and skylights, soffit and fascia, painting, carpentry and drywall, interior remodeling and room additions, and storm, fire and water damage restoration.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

My husband and I purchased a new condo in need of repair. Phase one was new flooring, a rebuilt shower (water damage to studs), and the electrical panel needed updating. Responses to my requests or questions were immediate and contact info was available from the start. My primary man in the trenches was Antonio who was trustworthy and a perfectionist. Contractors/workers were background checked and reliable. Because we went through USAA, the work is warranted for 5 years - peace of mind. Is this the cheapest place to do work for you? No. Is it reasonable with reliability and warranty? Yes. On to phase two!

This is an awesome company. Lone Star has always done an exceptional job for us. We have had this company replace our roof, repair an outdoor shed , and remodel our kitchen. Everything has been first class. I will recommend this company to anyone. I have not only used them in the past for my needs, but will also use them in the future. This company is a 5 STAR no doubt. If you want it done right , call Lone Star Roofing and Construction.

This company is amazing! From the very beginning they were very thorough and meticulous in the quote and when the materials came in they started the job right away. Not only did they do the roof but we also had them do several other things as well that needed repair and updating. I cannot give them a high enough rating. They were very profession and worked with the insurance company above and beyond. They stayed in contact with me every single step of the way through the entire process. I chose them because my insurance company recommended them to me 7 years ago when I had my own roof done and I was very happy with their work at that time also. This review is pertaining to my mom's home that I just had done in 2022. And by the way, we upgraded her roof and it looks amazing!

I've been using Lone Star for several years now, they've done multiple jobs for us. This go around was for a much-needed roof replacement. Their team (Charlene, James, Josh) was very professional and helpful every step of the way. The roof came out beautiful and on time. Hopefully we don't need more home repairs, but if I do, I always know who to call.. :D

Shawn and the LoneStar team did a great job helping me get through an insurance claim for hail damage. They were able to negotiate the overall cost so that I would be made whole. The other great thing about LoneStar is they are able to serve as a General Contractor for any additional construction needs you may have. I had several items that needed repairs or upgrades. While I had them there for my new roof, I hired them to know knock out several other items. All services were on time and within original proposed budget. I highly recommend LoneStar Roofing and Construction.

Frequently asked

There are several Texas companies called Lone Star Roofing. Which one is this?
This is Lone Star Roofing & Construction, Inc. of San Antonio, at 4733 Whirlwind Drive, San Antonio, TX 78217, on (210) 637-7663, website lonestarroofing.com. It is not connected to the similarly named roofing companies operating in Dallas or Amarillo. Match on the address, the phone number and the domain before assuming two listings are the same firm.
Does Texas issue a state roofing license?
No. Texas has no state roofing license, so no roofing company in Texas can honestly claim to be state licensed. What you can check instead is current general liability and workers compensation insurance, status with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), and any registration the City of San Antonio requires.
What does the RCAT Member status on this listing mean?
It means the company is a dues paying member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. That is not the same thing as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which involves testing and continuing education. This listing shows Member.
What is GAF Master Elite and does it actually mean anything?
Master Elite is the top tier of GAF's residential contractor program and GAF says only a small share of United States roofers hold it. It requires the contractor to stay in good standing with GAF and it is what allows GAF's strongest warranties, including the Golden Pledge limited warranty, on qualifying roof systems. You can confirm any contractor's tier on GAF's own directory at gaf.com.
Does San Antonio get enough hail to justify impact resistant shingles?
Yes, Bexar County takes damaging hail regularly, including some severe South Central Texas storms in recent years. A Class 4 impact rated shingle is a reasonable upgrade here, and many Texas carriers offer a premium credit for one. Ask your own insurer what credit it gives before you pay for the upgrade, because it varies by carrier.
How does a hail or storm claim work in Texas?
A roofer inspects and documents the damage, you open a claim, and your insurer sends an adjuster who writes a scope and a value. Policies pay either actual cash value or replacement cost, and you owe your deductible either way. In Texas it is illegal for a contractor to pay, absorb or rebate your insurance deductible, so treat any offer to do so as a warning sign.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in San Antonio?
Texas has no single statewide building code enforcement for reroofing, so the rules are set locally. San Antonio runs its own permitting and inspection process through the city. Ask in writing who pulls the permit and who meets the inspector, and make sure it is the contractor rather than you.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer or agent rather than a photocopy, a written scope naming the exact shingle brand and product line, a clear split between the manufacturer's material warranty and the contractor's workmanship warranty, the payment schedule, and who pulls the permit. Understand the cancellation terms before signing anything while an insurance claim is still open.
Does the company do commercial roofs as well as houses?
Yes. The company's website has separate residential roofing and commercial roofing sections, and its RCAT record classifies it as a Residential and Commercial contractor.
How long has the company been in business?
Its BBB profile records a business start date of 1 April 1979 and BBB accreditation since October 1999. It has held RCAT membership since 2005. Some third party listings show 1999 instead, which appears to track the BBB file opening rather than the founding.
