Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

InsuranceNot verified by us (we hold no certificate for this company — ask them for a current COI before signing)
RCAT statusNot listed
City/county registration No contractor registry in Tomball Permit office ↗This city does not register roofers, but a roofing permit is still required. Ask who pulls it.
RegionTomball

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Homerun did an amazing job on our new roof. They were extremely efficient and thorough in their work. Nathan took the time to explain everything that needed to be done with the removal and installation of the new roof. His crew was very attentive with our personal belongings in the back yard and took the time to ensure our property was cleaned and everything put back in place when they left. I will recommend HOMERUN Roofing to everyone I know.

They were supposed to fix a roof leak. They tried two times to fix it. Eventually gave up. I thought it was a bigger issue. I went on the roof and noticed that they were fixing a vent stack, not where the leak is actually happening. I called them back and took the day off to meet them, but nobody showed up. No return call. Nada.

I appreciated having my questions answered, the professionalism of your crew (prepping for the job and cleanup) and the quality and workmanship provided. I highly recommend Homerun Roofing.

Frequently asked

Is there a state roofing licence in Texas?
No. Texas does not license roofing contractors at state level, so nobody working in Tomball or Houston can be state licensed for roofing. Your protection comes from checking current insurance, a real physical address, written contracts, and voluntary credentials such as RCAT status.
What does the RCAT Member status mean here?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Member means the company pays association dues. It is a different and lesser thing than RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires meeting additional requirements. Homerun is carried at the Member level.
What does the BBB say about this company?
The BBB profile for Homerun Construction at the Tomball address states the business is not BBB Accredited, that a previous accreditation is currently suspended, and that it is not rated. That is worth reading for yourself on the BBB profile before you sign anything.
How do I verify the company's insurance?
Ask for a certificate of insurance emailed straight from the insurance agency, with your name as certificate holder. Check that general liability and workers compensation are both active and that the dates cover your job. Do this for every roofer you consider, not just this one.
Which address is the real one?
The website lists 9206 Thomasville Dr, Houston TX 77064. The BBB profile lists 18029 Hufsmith Kohrville Rd in Tomball and a Yelp listing shows 11709 Boudreaux Rd in Tomball. All three are in Harris County. Ask which location the contract will be written from and confirm it matches the insurance certificate.
Is hail a concern in the Tomball and Cypress area?
Yes, though less relentlessly than in North Texas. Harris County sees hail and severe thunderstorm wind, and this location is inland so coastal windstorm certification is not the issue. Have the roof inspected after any significant hail event, since bruising is hard to see from the ground.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it here?
Class 4 is the top UL 2218 impact rating and many Texas insurers discount premiums for it. In Harris County the case is mostly about longer roof life and fewer hail claims. Confirm the discount with your own carrier before paying the upgrade.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in this area?
It depends on jurisdiction, because Texas has no statewide building code. The City of Tomball and the City of Houston each run their own permitting, while much of the surrounding area is unincorporated Harris County with different rules. Confirm the requirement and who pulls the permit before work starts.
How does insurance claim assistance work?
A roofer can document damage, provide a repair scope and meet your adjuster on site. In Texas only the policyholder or a licensed public adjuster may negotiate the settlement itself, so be cautious of anyone offering to handle the whole claim for you or to waive your deductible.
What should I ask before signing?
Ask for the total price and payment schedule in writing, the exact shingle product and underlayment, the length of the workmanship warranty, whether the manufacturer warranty is registered, who pulls the permit, and confirm the entity on the contract matches both the insurance certificate and the BBB record.
