Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0649 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We used Hail King to replace our hail damaged roof. Harrison, our Hail King rep really went the extra mile to ensure our roof was made safe again, communicating and educating throughout the process. We had a challenging and extended negotiation process with our insurance company, who was initially not excited to pay for the replacement. Our persistence paid off though. Harrison was there before (inspecting the roof condition), throughout repairs, and followed up after to make sure everything was done right. Would definitely recommend working with him and Hail King based on my experience. Highly recommend.

We took the recommendation of our Property Management company and hired Dustin with HailKing to complete a large exterior project across our 58 unit HOA property, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. Their estimate was fair and clearly outlined, which gave us confidence moving forward. Once the project began, they had plenty of crew members on site, allowing the work to progress efficiently without unnecessary delays. They completed the entire project in a timely manner while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality. Throughout the process, they were responsive, proactive, and handled all matters and communication professionally. Any questions or concerns were addressed promptly, which made coordinating a large scale HOA project much smoother. We appreciate their organization, workmanship, and professionalism, and would confidently recommend them for exterior projects of this size.

In a brand new build in a brand new community, we needed new gutters badly. Had a total of 4 estimates, but HailKing beat them all! Rudy the roofer was excellent! Lane Casey was also great. This is one of the best purchasing experiences we’ve had in a long time! The gutters were installed quickly, everything happened on time! Our new gutters look beautiful!!! I highly recommend!

HailKing was retained to conduct a forensic evaluation of a roofing system installed by a third-party contractor that had previously been identified as non-compliant through multiple independent inspections. The scope of HailKings work included technical review of installation methods, correlation with applicable building codes, and verification against manufacturer specifications and published installation standards. The resulting analysis reflected a high level of technical rigor, clear documentation, and well-supported code interpretation. We would confidently engage HailKing again for future forensic or diagnostic work and recommend their services to other associations and property owners.

Harrison and the team at Hail King helped me resolve some hail damage to my roof. They helped me manage the project while I was out of town. Harrison was an excellent communicator and walked me through entire process for my insurance claim, met with the adjustor in person and kept me up to date on what was happening at each phase of the project. He recommended adding gutters, which I added to the project to help prevent erosion around the foundation of the home. I would highly recommend Hail King Roofing as a roofer you can trust and who will be very knowledgeable and detailed in managing your project.

Frequently asked

Is Hail King Professional Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license, so no Texas roofer is state-licensed. The voluntary credential that matters is from the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), where Hail King is listed as a Licensed Roofing Contractor, a credential earned by examination that goes beyond plain RCAT membership. Also ask for a current certificate of liability insurance, as you should with any roofer.
Where is Hail King Professional Roofing located?
The company's BBB-listed office is at 1900 Industrial Blvd, Suite 200 in Colleyville, opened in April 2025, and the company has long operated from neighboring Grapevine. It serves the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and East Texas.
How long has the company been in business?
The BBB profile lists the business as started in May 1995 and shows about three decades in operation. The company's own site uses the line "Roofing since 1991," reflecting its stated industry experience. Either way, this is a longtime DFW operator rather than a storm-chasing newcomer.
Does Hail King handle commercial roofs?
Yes. Commercial work spans TPO, modified bitumen, built-up, PVC, EPDM, and metal systems, plus roof coatings and flat roof repair, alongside its residential shingle and metal work.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it in the DFW area?
Usually yes. Tarrant County sits squarely in Texas Hail Alley, and Class 4 shingles carry the highest UL 2218 impact rating, so they shrug off more hail. Many Texas insurers also discount premiums for Class 4 roofs. Hail King installs both dimensional and Class 4 impact-resistant shingles.
Will insurance pay for my roof after a hailstorm?
If an adjuster confirms hail or wind damage, most Texas homeowners policies cover replacement minus your deductible. Get an independent inspection, document the damage with photos, and remember Texas law makes it illegal for a contractor to waive or rebate your deductible.
Is Hail King Professional Roofing BBB accredited?
Yes. Hail King Professional Roofing LLC in Colleyville holds an A+ BBB rating and has been accredited since May 2025, and an earlier Grapevine BBB listing for the company shows accreditation dating back to 2019.
Does the company offer financing?
Yes, the company advertises financing through Hearth and Wisetack, so a roof can be paid over time when insurance does not cover the work.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Colleyville or Grapevine?
Texas has no statewide building code, so each city sets its own permitting rules, and Colleyville, Grapevine, and other DFW suburbs each handle reroofing permits differently. An established local contractor will know your city's requirements and pull any permit that is needed.
What should I ask a DFW roofer after a hailstorm?
Ask for proof of liability insurance, a written itemized scope, warranty terms for workmanship and materials, a local physical address, and references from your area. Be wary of out-of-town crews that appear right after a storm. Hail King has a verifiable local address, a longtime BBB record, and an RCAT credential you can check.
