Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Chris Griggs is a great guy and someone I’d definitely recommend reaching out to if you need roofing help. He’s honest, reliable, transparent, and really knows what he’s doing. I also really like that Granada Roofing offers free inspections and estimates after a storm, which makes it a lot easier to understand your options without feeling pressured. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend Chris Griggs and Granada Roofing. After the last storm, Chris came out right away for a free inspection and estimate and walked me through everything in detail. He’s honest, reliable, and refreshingly transparent — no pressure, no gimmicks, just straight answers from someone who clearly knows his craft. His expertise is obvious, and you can tell he genuinely cares about doing the job right. If you need a roofer you can trust, call Chris.

The owner David Griggs handled roof replacement and roof repair for me in multiple occasions. He is very honest. If he doesn’t believe insurance would cover the claim, he wouldn’t tell you to file a claim. I trust his honesty. He came to inspect my roofs before I made the purchases as well. A great blessing for an investor.

I had a leak in my chimney. A realtor friend recommended this company and I couldn’t be happier. Super professional throughout the process. They did a custom flashing on my fireplace, not your standard off the shelf repair. The end result looks really good. The cost was very reasonable, especially with the quality job they did. I’m definitely using them when I need a new roof, which is probably so.

Granada roofing is above and beyond in everything they do! They took the time to explain everything and make the whole process of having my roof replaced as painless as possible. I highly recommend them!

Frequently asked

Is Granada Roofing & Exteriors licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so no Texas roofer can claim one. Granada Roofing & Exteriors is a Member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), a voluntary trade association. Homeowners should always ask for a current certificate of liability insurance and check whether their city requires contractor registration.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
RCAT membership means a company has joined the association and pays dues. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is a separate, voluntarily earned certification that requires testing and insurance verification. Granada Roofing & Exteriors is listed as an RCAT Member; the two statuses are not the same thing.
What services does Granada Roofing & Exteriors offer?
The company handles residential and commercial roofing, roof repairs, roof inspections, and gutters, and it describes itself as a full exterior service that also offers siding, windows, painting, and fencing.
What roofing materials does Granada Roofing install?
Its site lists CertainTeed Landmark asphalt shingles, Boral concrete tile, Vermont slate, 24-gauge standing seam metal, DaVinci synthetic slate and shake, and TPO single-ply membrane for commercial roofs.
Can Granada Roofing help after a North Texas hailstorm?
McKinney and Collin County sit in the North Texas hail corridor, and Granada offers roof inspections. After a storm, document the damage, ask for a written inspection report, and contact your insurer before signing anything. It is also worth asking about Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, which some Texas insurers reward with premium discounts.
Is Granada Roofing & Exteriors BBB accredited?
Yes. BBB shows Granada Roofing and Exteriors of McKinney as accredited since December 2022 with an A+ rating. BBB records list the business as starting in September 2022.
What warranty does Granada Roofing offer?
The company states a 3-Year Craftsmanship Warranty on its work, separate from any manufacturer warranty on the materials. Ask for both warranties in writing before work begins.
Where does Granada Roofing & Exteriors work?
The company serves property owners throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex from its McKinney office at 7300 State Highway 121, Suite 300.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in McKinney?
Texas has no statewide roofing permit rule; permitting is handled city by city. Many North Texas cities, including McKinney, require permits for significant roofing work, so confirm requirements with the city and ask the contractor in writing who will pull the permit.
What should I check before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Because Texas has no state roofing license, vet contractors yourself: ask for proof of liability insurance, a written scope and price, local references, and clarity on warranties. Be wary of large upfront payments and of anyone offering to cover your insurance deductible, which is illegal in Texas.
