Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Frequently asked

Is Golden Nail Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license, so no roofer can claim one. Golden Nail's listing here reflects RCAT membership; pair that with verified insurance and any city registration your area requires.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
Membership means the company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas; the Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is a separate, tested designation. They are not interchangeable, so ask which one a company holds.
How new is Golden Nail Roofing?
BBB lists a business start date of April 16, 2024, so the LLC is quite new, though the founding brothers describe over a decade of roofing industry experience. With any young company, ask for recent local references and written warranties.
What does GAF Certified mean for homeowners?
GAF Certified contractors are vetted by GAF and can offer the GAF System Plus limited warranty on qualifying roof systems. Golden Nail Roofing appears as a Certified contractor in GAF's directory for Irving, TX.
What services does Golden Nail Roofing offer?
Its website lists roof replacement, commercial roofing, synthetic roofing, storm damage insurance claim help, exterior restoration, and free roof inspections.
What is synthetic roofing?
Synthetic roofing uses engineered polymer products that mimic slate, shake, or tile with less weight and strong impact resistance, which suits hail-prone North Texas. Golden Nail dedicates a page to synthetic roofing on its site.
Can Golden Nail help with a hail or storm insurance claim?
The company advertises storm damage claim assistance. In Texas the claim is always yours, not the roofer's; a contractor can document damage and meet the adjuster, but be wary of anyone who offers to pay or waive your deductible, which is illegal.
How do I verify a roofer's insurance before hiring?
Ask for certificates of general liability and workers compensation insurance sent directly from the insurance agent, and confirm they are current before any work starts.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Irving or Dallas County?
Permitting is set city by city in Texas since there is no statewide enforcement. Check with the City of Irving or your own city about permit and inspection requirements and confirm who pulls the permit.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it in the DFW area?
Usually worth pricing. Dallas County sits in North Texas hail country, Class 4 shingles hold up better to hail, and many Texas insurers discount premiums for them. Confirm the discount with your insurer before choosing.
